Her (recluse) damage is MUCH better than ironeye's. If you're failing to deal damage with her that's a skill issue. Mana regain involves a long animation because it also creates buffs depending on the damage types you collect. You can also get relics which give it even more utility

Am I missing something here as melee? Lobster takes no damage and butterfly spends half the time out of your reach. In second phase I can do nothing but run around, either avoiding orbital laser or chasing the boss tardrushing all over the stage.

With Duchess you restage after an ult, a bleed proc, a frostbite proc, a riposte/critical strike, or if everyone just managed to get a few strong hits in. It has a low as fuck CD. Spam that shit. Duchess is easily A or S tier. Her dodges are insane and if you have the appropriate elemental dagger you're one of the best appliers of it for the boss and I find myself able to stick to the boss better than most other people due to being able to just spam dodge towards the boss through every attack.

Ironeye - Best character overall due to mark, great damage with bows, a strong ultimate, and the ability to melee with dex weapons. Do not sleep on using him in melee. Using melee during staggers/openings and constant ranged plinking when not gives him insane up time.
Raider - Best melee class, highest damage potential, most stagger potential. His ultimate kind of sucks but he is very tanky.
Duchess - Most consistent melee damage dealer due to insane dodges. Her skill is the best in the game due to being able to repeat everyone elses. She needs status or elemental weapons.

Wylder - Best ultimate in the game, best mobility in the game. Damage wise is a worse Raider but has more flexibility. Solid pick.

Recluse - Has high potential but she needs a team to actually help her get a good staff, upgrade it, hold aggro for her, and not constantly fuck up her skill. If she spams the right skill combo she has insane damage but lots of the time it is impossible due to retard mcfuckface hitting the boss with 1 holy damage constantly.

Executor - Bleed weapons are strong, he is the best at using them. His skill and ultimate are not good. His ultimate is good for bullying low level bosses and clearing camps.
Guardian - Best revive ultimate in the game, is nice and supportive, but Damage > Defense

Revenant - Pointless class. FP management is impossible for a caster. Her summons have terrible AI and just get AoE'd by the boss. She does no damage. Heals and support magic cannot be used on the nightlords. Waste of a slot.

Speaking about NPC. If this game was something more than half assed mod it would have NPC. Sponsored by Armored Core VD. In ACVD there was complex NPC system that let you "program" EVERYTHING. It's something similar to Dragon Age or XII gambit system mixed with Dragon's Dogma pawns. But it was so customizable you were able to adjust range, angle of attack and defensive behaviors for AI.

The only liability is revenant. Everyone else is at least playable.

I've killed 6 of 8 on PS5 and have generally been surprised at how good people are. I've had zero quitters, beat several night lords on the first attempt, and only had a single run that didn't get to the night lord. I'm not even sure how the melee have been as good as they are. I think I'd be hard fucked without playing iron eye. The mark skill being fully invincible and traveling a mile is all that's carrying me.

When you run out of FP in like a minute, require decent RNG to actually get good faith spells, have to go out of your way to get them since most classes get their weapons from the same spots and a lot of the faith spells are dogshit, useless buffs and heals, has bad defense/stats, AI summons that are borderline retarded

Basically you suck it up and use whatever is most appropriate for your stats with the correct element.

Example: Raider wants colossal weapons, but any decent strength weapons with the right element are what you should be using. If you do get a colossal with the right element great, but otherwise use the right element.
One of the underrated strengths of Wylder is that he can use basically every melee weapon that is not pure Dex effectively. Str and quality weapons are very good for him so he has the most flexibility.

Guardian +Wylder or Raider + Ironeye is literally an S tier matchup. The stagger potential is unbelievable.

Also do his remembrance quests. He can use his ult to heal in an AOE as well as use a whirlwind attack that lasts 5 seconds that chain staggers all world enemies.

That is one of the biggest issues with the game right now. You can't see it in game unless you go to the training area/visual codex. Dumb decision by them.

I find heavy weapons to be better for ressing since you only need three hits for one bar. Two if you heavy charge. Whereas with fists, claws, or fast weapons you gotta sit there and turn them into mincemeat before they stand up.

How do you cope with being slow? or magical AOE?

Simple, you can dodge most AOE attacks in this game. All it takes is the ability to read when the boss is about to perform an attack.

Also, having your shield up with the ability activated halves nearly all AOE damage. You have crazy high HP so even if you do get chip damage its a non issue.

Also, use your ult ability for free healing and warming stones.

Also, he isn't slow at all. He has the same movement speed of any other character. Your just supposed to play him as a stationary tank character. Which is S tier for sword spamming enemies. As it staggers them from your blocking.

It is insane on Duchess if you get the continuous attacks give damage resistance. You dodge 90% of hits anyways, and when you get clipped you take basically nothing and build up another shield in a second.

Beat all the bosses thinking I'd unlock Revenant but nope, it's a gimmick quest you can do early on. If you haven't unlocked Revenant yet then do yourself a favor and look up how to do the quest.

1) I need to beat a night lord with him to progress his individual quest and start gathering real good relics, right?

Reminder that the unique move sets happen when you ONE HAND a weapon and generally do as much damage as two handing but with better damage. There is no reason to two hand a greatsword on Wylder, for example. Use a shield and one hand it. The damage for a 1 hand combo at level 15 is 557, the damage for a 2 hand combo is 576. So 20 more damage across 4 more attacks. You should only two hand if your weapon skill is very good. Otherwise the ability to block an attack is much more useful.

You can stagger enemies with it.

Oh yeah I staggered the bugs when they were doing the charge by going into shield stance. That was cool as fuck

Reminder that Wylder can use his claw on the ground to travel faster. Not only great for exploration bur during bosses you can get the fuck away from them if you need to. You also can end it early with an attack.

A lot of people don't seem to know this, but you actually deflect when switching to the deflect stance as executor. Instead of switching and deflecting, you can activate the switch to immediately deflect. Pretty baller. Also, his attacks while stanced take next to no stamina, do if you can mix attacking and deflecting, he's amazing at getting the 3 death revives in safely.

Best skin in the game.

I was in a game where we had a leaver and the other guy stayed. So we just duo'd. We got the stupid dog down to 1/4 of its health before we failed. Pretty good if you ask me. We could have won if we had more levels/flasks I think. I hope they add in duos for real. It felt pretty good not having to wrangle two people at once.

i haven't had leavers but about 50% of my runs have been good while the rest have had 1 or 2 utter brainlets. the biggest contributing fails is generally retards running off solo (~10%) or brainlets trying to kill one of the strong greaters in day 1 and repeatedly getting 1 shot.

go to the journal and hit "commence remembrance" Then you just queue up like normal. Usually the map will show the location of your goal. Unless it's just to kill a night lord.

from my experience playing with randoms you get a good group about 1/10 times. The good news is you can check the profiles of your teammates after each victory. Add them and try to group up with as many good players as you can, playing 3-man with a coordinated group (preferably with group chat) is a transcendent experience and the way the game was truly meant to be played

It has i-frames, you can hold it to sit for free i-frames, and then it literally hits everything infront of you for a mile. Even if its behind you slightly, it takes full damage. You use it to stagger bosses, and clear entire camps of trash.

His whirlwind is insanely useful and should be spammed constantly during mobbing, it's also good stagger on bosses if you get an opening for it. The stone stake relic turns it into a lingering tornado type damage aoe, extremely strong

His ultimate is the best part about him, damage, team revive, iframes, and if you hold it down, no one on your team can take damage for the duration. Extremely strong carry skill, combine with "build ultimate charge on guard" and you will solo carry the nightlord

They're poorly balanced, loaded, with 1 shots, and basically demand certain loadouts that the game may not even give you.

the reality is this game has a ton of nuance and the average souls player is NOT good. as a friendless fag as well and 15 hours in I have only killed 3 nightlords and i've kept track - about 20% of my runs were bricked from the get-go and only about half culminated to even GETTING to a nightlord. the nightlords also just aren't fun. balance is all over the place (it feels like we're paying to balance test this game).

balance and QoL patches ARE inevitable. I'd just wait for them to either make the game more solo friendly and/or see what the drop off ends up looking like. Its Twitch engagement bottomed out on a Saturday night of a release weekend so a lot fo people are already bailing on the game.

I don't think there's much downside to using a shield on ironeye since you can fire all bows one-handed and two-handing doesn't change the damage. If they're playing well they'll rarely use it, but it can be a lifesaver.

If the tides haven't changed since I checked last it's mostly because it doesn't have voice or text chat, no duo mode and solo is an afterthought balance-wise which is to say there isn't any.

If you don't call and recall your summons at the right time they will just have 0 presence during the nightlord fight since they will die instantly, and that requires a bit of skill.

Marika and the Erdtree were destroyed long ago in Nightreign. One of the characters is so old he still remembers the tree and makes painting of it. Non of the other characters seen it and most of them don't even know what it is.

If your team is playing perfectly and never makes mistakes and can never get hit, yeah there's no point to it.
But your team is probably not going to play perfectly and is going to make mistakes. It's the same argument as people saying that you shouldn't level Vigor/armor is useless, and then they get flattened by a boss and say Elden Ring is poorly-balanced because From Soft when overboard. Yeah, if you're playing 100% perfectly you won't need defense, but most people aren't going to be flawless. And even if you ARE flawless, HP and defense becomes a resource you use to keep attacking instead of having to roll and be patient.

If you're playing in multiplayer, you can always outrun them with super sprint and split the pack up. That way no one gets scammed with offscreen attacks/firebreaths from behind. You can also use holy weapons to stun the split dog, but fighting them in a mob together is usually a bad idea

Read the boss description and look at the icon before matchmaking to know what each boss is "weak" towards.

When you start the expedition it has a little icon showing his weakness and the description basically says

Yo do holy damage when he splits into three and he'll get fucking bodied lmao

The menu literally tells you their weakness when you pick a boss to fight.

The boss select tells you that. Try reading it next time it specifies the element a boss is weak to and when you can apply it.

Yeah its fun if you like the combat system even with randoms. It would probably be way too easy if you can coordinate with a discord stack.

But I should like this. I like procedural generation with a satisfying reward.
Sometimes the reward can be another puzzle, but that only goes so far (Blue Prince does that well).
You need something a little more going on too. SotE does this quite well. There are little goals along the way, but your eye is always caught by the main plotline of SotE.

If you're doing chalice dungeons - Diablo is your obvious archetype here? It would work potentially great. This is just a shitty Elden Ring with nothing new in it.

It's a few set map sections with a small amount of monsters swapped around. The rewards and choices are uninteresting stat boosts that may not even be relevant to your character (Oh boy, 20% extra counter damage with polearms on my recluse? 10% FP on my raider?) with a pointless encroaching circle that the developers have no idea why the mechanic was impleneted back in PUBG. And even with all that, an entire run can just die at the final boss just from their spazzy bullshit.

You get LOADS of souls from doing it and if it is Giants you get like 5+ drops, although fuck the Giants castle, it is mega cancer since they all throw pots at you.
But if it is Banished knights or Crucible knights then it is worth it.

the bosses on the upper part usually always drop purple weapons. plus you can get lots of loot and levels if your team clears the castle. I do agree that the version with the broken bridge is aids. I prefer when the one with the trolls throwing pots on top of each tower version.

I spawned an ancient dragon from one of the gaols and in the middle of the fight he jumped backwards up into a cliff into the night rain. He just kept spamming his breath attack over and over. We just gave up on him after a few minutes of trying to whittle him down while taking damage from the rain. Stupid shit. Dragons are so frustrating. They are super mobile, have gigantic attack hit boxes, but then it feels almost impossible to hit them.

Because they forgot to get rid of the stamina meter. Would you have any stamina loss on pinning down a femboy final boss? Of course not.

I was in a group that was wrecking shit and we ended up clearing the entire place towards the end of the 2nd night. We got like 7 boss drops from regular banished knights and everyone in the party ended up with at least 2 legendaries in the run. A lot of stuff on the game feels like a "win harder" situation, where if you aren't already steamrolling it's going to take way too long for it to be worth it, and when it's worth doing you've already done so well it doesn't matter.

Let me explain, it's rogue in the sense that you have to keep coming back for that slither of achievement. That's about it.
Not in the general sense. More of a minute quality that it has which is similar to roguelikes sense. It "feels" like one with boss battles and getting from A to B because of the difficulty. It isn't really one because it doesn't normally procedurally generate. The feeling just comes from the difficulty as an obstacle.

Exactly, you have a circle in those big BR's because you don't want people camping in one place like how it was in DayZ or in games like Tarkov, and you don't tell them where the last circle will be because they'll just camp there from the start. None of those issues apply here, it's just there to make the game seem more fast paced than it is.
They should have done an overall enemies growing stronger over time thing like Risk of Rain did. It's obvious there's level scaling going on so I don't see that being a big reach in development and balancing.

I was getting really mad with this fight because I kept trying to be the tank that keeps the lobster off the ranged character's ass so they can focus the moth in phase 1 but they kept doing garbage damage.
I got tired of it and tried Ironeye myself and the fight is actually really fun as him. I super high-rolled with 2 of the self revive items and didn't even use them.

Mage towers I kinda get even if they take sub 30sec, but every church along the usual route has guaranteed seals. If a ruined church, it's a box downstairs in the hallway, and if an intact church with a boss aboveground, it's back to the left. The intact churches also have a hidden chest upstairs you can platform up to for more stonesword keys, so you never want to skip them as locations

I did the ramparts on my last run which was the first time that I got to level 13 and we also clapped the boss (first try moth, but it was pretty easy with me getting a fire damage bow on ironeye). There were a bunch of giant trolls on top who throw pots if you enter from the ground level. The trick was to use a jump in the river below which can catapult you right on top.
