I never liked that enemies don't feel the shots they receive. They keep walking and shooting and behaving normally until their HP is reduced to zero and they fall like shit on the ground.

I'm okay with this, Wolf3D with its small rooms and untextured floors/ceilings won't benefit from the extra resolution nearly as much as Doom.
Also you can probably find a set of ported levels and mods that allows you to play Wolf3D in ZDoom.

Wolf 3D does have a ZDoom total conversion by AFADoomer, but I wouldn't recommend it because enemies aren't properly flagged to stay on patrol or on guard, so when one enemy wakes up, all enemies in that sector also wake up, like in Doom, which actually breaks some encounters and softlocks you in certain instances from accessing a mandatory secret. ECWolf is way better.
Brutal Wolfenstein 7.0 does everything a remake of Wolfenstein 3-D and Spear would do anyway, and then some. The recreations of the level maps are so faithful that it feels like a modern source port of an official Wolf 3D remake on the Doom engine from another timeline somewhere in-between the releases of Doom II and RTCW. It is so fun and makes Wolf 3D's gameplay way better with the new weapons and enemy encounters.

Good despite consolization. The peak of the game is toward then end when you have all your powers and are fighting the toughest enemies. The Empower ability lets you hipfire at pinpoint accuracy and play the game almost like a PC shooter. Weapons are straight up overpowered and ridiculous when upgraded, which I would imagine a lot of people would find fun in a power fantasy sort of way. The havoc physics system is fun to play around with. I remember finding the soundtrack kinda generic and not Bill Brown's best work, but as time goes on, I've grown to appreciate it more and listen to it here and there.

All in all, it's a solid 8/10 and I always recommend it to anyone who couldn't get into RTCW.

Cool aesthetics with some neat gameplay ideas, but it's just too much like COD in overall feeling and is just outright worse than RTCW because of it.

It has the potential to be because of a rare softlock that can occur if you kill a guard that the last guy who's supposed to drive BJ into the rocket base can see. If he sees a dead body, he goes into an alert state where he waves his gun around, but sometimes won't actually run to set off the alarm and give the player a "Mission Failed". So you're stuck in this sort of limbo where you can't actually finish the mission, and you're not sure why. If that happens, it can sour a playthrough for someone.

Searching for gold was a lot of fun, and there was a ton to find.
Pretty good, better than the average console shooter but fuck those collectibles, some of them were hidden really well.
