It is not particularly fun to play and doesn't really do anything better than the last two nu-dooms. It also does not run very well compared to them. It attempts to have a plot and lore beyond "you are doom guy go kill demons" which feels out of place in the series.
It is a middling, somewhat boring game, that seems to have been made for people who didn't like doom in the first place. They made a game that wasn't doom and called it doom, hoping that old players would buy it on name recognition and new players would buy it for being something different. But instead old players didn't buy it because it's different and new players didn't buy it because it's doom.
Basically if the devs were redskins with those descriptive names they earn in childhood they'd all be "Falls on head" and "Sips on glue"
