Play a Sonic game.
Play a Sonic game
im not 11 anymore
Tell SEGA to stop sticking Denuvo in the new ones and I will.
Nigga I'm not dropping $60 on a new game to be treated like a thief even if the game looks fun, what are you, crazy?
Congrats on your 12th birthday
play this then, it's free
Which Sonic game?
28 acts
Interesting, I might download it later.
Now that Penny's big breakaway was a flop, what are the chances the Mania team will make another Sonic game?
Make a game where I can Creampie Cream
This is obvious bait but I like it.
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe they had a power struggle of sorts after Mania and broke away (no pun intended) from Sega, hence why they made Penny. So the odds are more likely they'll make another original game or a Sonic clone, unless Sega approaches them first.
PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS PINGAS
I played Sonic Robo Blast 2 with the Open GL 3D graphics turned on, with Sonic 3 physics and Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn) music mods turned on.
Basically, I want to make it my fantasy "If Sega released a 3D Sonic game during the Saturn era" game.
The criticism of automation and shallow setpieces is so real. The first game has an almost perfect blend of real platforming and mindless "look cool" moments. As the series progressed it leaned more and more into those "look cool" moments. It's frustrating playing mania and being able to take your hand off the controller almost every 5 seconds.
The pic is bait but I unironically agree with it in multiple regards especially with the first point. Sonic 1 is still untouched when it comes to actually making use of momentum and speed being a reward for good play, reaction times, and level knowledge. Sonic 2 introduced the spindash, which allows you go fast literally whenever and made all of the levels a lot more horizontally linear and while Sonic 3K improved the level design of Sonic 2, it still has the spindash and automation problems
I wouldn't place Sonic 1 over 3K or CD because Labyrinth Zone is essentially indefensible but I genuinely think I might like it more than I do Sonic 2. Once I hit Hill Top Zone in Sonic 2 my brain usually just turns off because all of the good levels are at the start unlike Sonic 1 which has Star Light and Scrap Brain not Act 3 but you can take the shortcut and skip it anyway at the end
Honestly for as much as people like to cope that the spindash completely erases the need to build speed, nobody touches on the fact that very frequently you can go faster than spindashing speed, or that having an actual flow is necessary for maintaining routes in 2.
For me, marble is the stage that ruins sonic 1. Just completely boring with almost no fast pace allowed regardless of how well you know the level. And it being the second stage (especially considering how short green hill is) just kills any interest in playing the game.
IIRC labyrinth had some big shortcuts. I didn't mind it much.
I might emulate secret rings or finally play black knight
kinda worried how emulating it might feel or that it wont be worth the trouble if black knight is so short and kind of unsatisfying anyway
secret rings is a burning pile of shit but its like a disgusting curiosity makes me wanna go back
I just emulated metroid other M so im definitely capable of playing a mid af game
Begone zoomer nigger.
and made all of the levels a lot more horizontally linear
I won't address your spin dash criticism because it's utter nonsense for reasons below, but this is true, yes. Sonic 2 streamlined the gameplay but the level design got a little less involved as a result. I think Metropolis is the most Sonic 1 stage in Sonic 2, and that's the one I actually appreciate more as an adult.
Never mind the fact that spin dashing requires you to come to a complete stop, tap the jump button multiple times, and the speed you gain from it is entirely contingent on you having the skill to maintain it. He'd have a point if it was like SA1 where you could just spam dash any time you want, but I think this criticism of the spin dash is vastly overblown. The move itself is not the reason why level design became less involved. If anything, it should be the opposite. Giving the player a tool to deal with more vertically oriented stages shouldn't cause the level design to become more flat. If Sonic 2 is too linear, it's a fault of the level designers, not the completely optional move. Also, Sonic 3&K exists, and the spin dash doesn't "ruin" anything there either.
ERRM actually you can use the spin dash to clear a loop without running backwards to pick up momentum first so it's LITERALLY just the boost button :^)
It sounds like a strawman, but I swear to christ, I see this sentiment posted more times that I'd like in Sonic threads. I can only assume it's just buttblasted Modernfags trying to take Classic Sonic down a peg, as usual, but still. Funny stuff.
Would not recommend Secret Rings unless you cheat to gain EXP quickly. Even then, it's pretty bad. Black Knight is only as good as your wagglan arm's stamina. Which is to say, it's fine, I guess. Map wagglan to a controller and you'll probably have an okay time. Still not a fan of autorunning in a Sonic game at all. Maybe as a gimmick roller coaster-esque arcade cabinet, but not a console game.
There is no way anyone likes Sonic 1's Special Stage over the others. None of them are even that great.
I like Sonic 1, but really what's the difference between the automated setpieces and shit like waiting through Spring Yard's shitty elevators?
there are no elevators in spring yard you schizo
I think Metropolis is the most Sonic 1 stage in Sonic 2, and that's the one I actually appreciate more as an adult.
What are that zones' redeeming qualities? Because nearly everything about it I can remember is just unfun.
Is Sonic Adventure 1 any good?
If you're gonna act like a retard about it and intentionally try to not have fun, you probably won't enjoy it.
But if you're actually game to just sit down and play it you'll probably have a fairly decent time
Yeah most of it is.
1/3 of it is good
Like genuinely the only straight up bad shit I can think of in base Sonic Adventure 1 is Amy's stages since she has such bad acceleration that she can fail to walk up slopes, but for the most part she's placed on flat walkways so it's not as much of a problem and she only has 3 stages if I remember right.
It's 95% good
delusional
is the most iconic pose in video game history in your path
That's not
yeah that's what I meant to post, i'm raarted
The only bad part is Big and he accounts for maybe 5% of the playtime
Fuck off. Amy is just as bad as big and no one plays a sonic game for treasure hunting or shooting minigames.
Only sonic and tails' stages are good and even then sonic's btfos tails'.
I play the adventure games for treasure hunting and shooting stages
I always hoped they would make a Knuckles treasure hunting spinoff game, kinda like Nintendo did with Toad Treasure Tracker
Same, gameplay variety is good.
Which is why I (personally) like Big's stages, although full disclosure I like Sega Bass Fishing.
Treasure hunting and shooting were only garbage in 2.
Not even true.
The thing you could argue is a problem with 2 with either of those is the fucking get 100 rings missions which are obnoxious as shit to do with the fuckhuge hitboxes the mechs have.
idc what anyone says treasure hunting was better in 2. bigger stages are exactly what an exploration mode needs and yeah the radar being cucked is annoying but get over it.
Mech stages are definitely worse in 2. The mechs control worse and the stages are way too long, literally some of the longest in the entire game.
when is sonic rumble coming to steam
based
Sonic Pinball Party it is, then!
