the main appeal of handhelds was being able to do their own thing, now with switch/switch2 is just a bunch of console/pc games downscaled to portable mode much like a laptop, sacrificing performance for portability.
handhelds being able to make low res shit made possible a bunch of games, atlus would pump games non stop on the DS/3DS but now we get like one game every 5-10 years.

I love that every game can shove all the UI out of sight on these things. Fantastic design just for that. There was also potential for RTS games and CRPGs that was never realized.
