They made 7 million of these. Why is it pushing $300?
GBA
Nintendo fags will always pay up. Always.
Auction house trannies joined forces with snake oil video game "grading" companies to artificially inflate the second hand video game market.
Disingenuous collectors and the people who are reselling this shit will tell you
it's supply and demand dood
When there is in fact, literal millions of them around.
imagine not having the original copy you played
these people are hopeless
Ruby and Sapphire are much cheaper and they're basically the same game aside from the BF, i feel you should buy Emerald only if you really care that, also i saw japanese copies of Emerald around $50
Because people will pay for scarcity, I still have my copy of pokemon emerald and I don't want to sell it. That's -1 from that 7 million. When I was younger my dog chewed a pokemon emerald cartridge, which comes to -2 from that 7 million. Now think of all the people in similar situations as I was, who had either lost their games, broke them, had pets destroy them, etc etc. They made 7 million but there aren't 7 million for sale
Use your fucking brain
This is crazy. Everyone has a phone, you can emulate these games so easily.
emulation means the real thing should be cheap
Retarded.
You are in your 30s.
not op but i've played Emerald a dozen of times but i just want to own a physical copy because it's an important game
Emuchads and homebrewchads win again
I meant that people shouldn’t be buying them, not that the price is outlandish.
Maybe, but alot of them are sitting on onions infused millennial funk pop shrines gathering dust and there is a high demand due to nostalgic value and perceived collectible value. Anyway just get a GBA flashcart if you want to play on real hardware.
They don't want to play them, they want to put it up on display.
And you're a retarded zoomer with no own house, car or pokemon games
Traded it in to Gamestop for $10
bought another before the collector explosion for $50
Could have been worse but still very retarded
I'm not, and Crystal was my first game (on release). You're retarded.
How long do those carts even last. imagine paying 300 for a decaying cartridge. Gaming the only faggot medium were the classics go out of print. Movies, TV shows and books rarely have the issue where the best titles are out of print.
The funny thing is that all these collectors/resellers with Youtube channels are trying to push this gay psyop on how you apparently don't get the same experience if you emulate these games or even play them on modded original hardware, and that you MUST buy them.
i got a copy for 30 bucks a few years back, along with a gameboy micro for 100$
try a used game store, idiot
Because Nintendo wants you to forget about its past just so you can buy their new shitty console
try a used game store
they are ALL going to use ebay prices you fucking retard
wait is this real? nobody can be this retarded, like i can understand emulation but on an original modded hardware is the same fucking thing
surely only rich retards are buying this junk
I hate Nintendo fans with burning passion. The biggest gayest corporate bootlickers on the planet. They always let Nintendo fuck them in the ass with smile. No effort to protest the hike in switch 2 game prices. They will happily whore out their wives and daughters to play those games.
pokemon fans are really, REALLY stupid. frequently literal children who just want to play the older games but think emulators will give them a virus, breaking the law is bad, the game has anti-piracy you can't beat, etc.
you know why earthbound is so expensive? it's not just because it had a low print run. it's because tons of knuckle-dragging retards saw articles about the game's anti-piracy and think it's still a problem, and they have to buy a real copy to avoid it. really.
I have ruby, sapphire, emerald, FR, LG, diamond, pearl, platinum, colosseum, XD, B1 and W2
How do I sell them?
I checked ebay and it's full of fake carts
You know how I can tell?
The 'gameboy advance' text moulded on the cart is too thin
The real carts have a much wider and flatter text
I posted about this 10 years ago and nobody knew about it and apparently people still don't
see, mario kart world being at $80 is right actually!
videogames aren't a primary need so why are you complaining?
how dare you listening to nintendo music without paying for their amazing app!
see pokemon is still fun, those are just haters!
man the switch 2 storage is 256 gb, that's huge!
Oh wait, I also have HG but I threw the box away
Still have that pokeball thing
you should open the cartridge and post pictures of the inside, so one can tell if that's a bootleg or not
Nintendofags are literally the definition of CONSOOOOM. They collect Funko Pops, Nintendo merch, pay for overpriced rehashed garbo, deepthroat 'Tendo at every corner, collect AMIIBOS, etc etc.
they don't buy it, there's no longer a need so anyone buying is purely for luxury, and sellers know they can charge a retard tax for it and you have no choice but to pay if you want the authentic plastic
Is there a guarantee that there are no fakes with the right looking internals?
Because if so that might make sale easy
How do I make sure the guy doesn't just switch it for a fake cart and send it back claiming I sent a fake?
The reseller market is completely fucked. A used handheld you could get for $20 a decade ago is now over $100.
Kek imagine trying to sell this shit despite it looking so obviously fake
Look at that font, it's so obvious
I ruined mine with rubbing alcohol and a qtip. It struggles to register a bit... Or maybe it's the GBA itself.
But, to answer, it's what people are willing to pay. Stupid people unfortunately get all the money.
im not 100% sure but most bootlegs are very cheap so they don't have the internal battery, instead they modify the game to write the save directly into the rom. Usually when you save on a fake cart you'll see a bit of lag because of this
oh boy i really need some expensive plastic crap sitting in my house collecting dust because it might be worth $50 more in 10 years
GBA games didn't save to a battery. It was only used for the clock.
The most egregious part there to me is the official Nintendo seal.
SUPPLY and DEMAND broski!
The only thing we can now is to try and save the emulation scene. I sure shit ain't paying 100 for old Pokemon games when I can play it on my PC easily for free. Nintendo wants to be a giant bitch and kill emulation so we have to buy their new console and buy old titles on them. Not buying downloadable titles from Nintendo unless they are going to transfer for free between each new console.
Here comes the final boss of Pokefags. This was about $300 before covid.
It's because of the chink aftermarket screens.
Why does it matter? I'm glad that Nintendotards are getting shafted.
the funniest collectors are the ps4/xbone and onwards, imagine thinking any of those games are going to be worth anything ever
Oh shit I just remembered my mom wrote my initials on the back of most of my GBA carts
It's over...
The moment Yuzu started being forked by little kids wanting to farm drama for attention, emulation was effectively killed. Not even the Project64 1.7 fiasco managed to do enough damage to effectively all of emulation.
Most of them were owned by little kids. They probably broke it
effectively all
halt***
One word: Resellers
People said the same about every single generation.
Cause you just a fox without grapes.
But they have no label on the back. Doesn't it come off with rubbing alcohol, bitch?
bump wish i never sold my gba titles to gameslop
once again, emutroons and niggerss can't understand the value in owning something
hell even ps3 and 360 games will never be worth shit, nothing made in the age of digital storefronts has value. and idgaf about some weird japanese games that printed like 10k copies that shit doesn't count
dude i am sure someone will buy your copy of gale of darkness some day
How long do those carts even last
except for the replaceable batteries, solid state media cartridges have a statistically insignificant failure rate over the last 40+ years
It does mean the real thing should be cheap. Emulation in most cases is better than the original copy, and it's free. Why people are tripping over each other to buy an inferior product that a free product does better is beyond me.
the funniest collectors are the ps4, imagine thinking any of those games are going to be worth anything ever.
retard alert.
Yeah, it’s true, I got mixed up because I had a pretty shitty FFVI bootleg that was modified like that. Every game saves in a different memory spot
Jesus why are people charging over $500 AUD for gale of darkness?
Surely nobody is paying that much money for fucking XD
fakes are for casuals. I'm sure most collectors share your level of autism and can also tell you ain't special
Eventually, buying your own listing through alts tricks people.
It was a game that came out at the tail end of a generation for the last-place console for a series that is hugely popular. It's not that surprising.
pic unrelated?
Emulation in most cases is better
Lol.
some non-pokemon games used battery-backed SRAM for save data.
Gamecube games age the worst. Their paint peels off with time. If you do manage to sell them, you're bound to end up giving a partial refund if you don't want to see them returned.
which of your games has this happened to besides twin snakes?
My friend in 5th grade went through an anti-Pokemon phase and gave me his copies of Firered and Emerald. I still have them and I wonder if he knows how much they skyrocketed in price.
Ontop of that, you can buy repro carts off Aliexpress for $5 that work the exact same.
That's how I got pretty much all of my gen 3 games. The only ones I actually got new were Emerald and XD.
Issue-free with multiplayer or Colosseum/XD connectivity?
Totally issue free. Saves fine too.
$300
Damn it kinda makes me want to sell my emerald, firered and leafgreen cartridges
Do you have any DS games? HGSS are $200 each loose. Even Platinum is $100 now.
Feels good to be a millennial Chad who still has the original copy. Pay up zoomies.
BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP BUYING THEM
SUPPLY
DEMAND
7 MILLION COPIES
BUT 20 MILLION PEOPLE WANT IT
Supply and demand
or download the 4mb rom and enjoy it wherever you want on nearly any modern device?
None of those are sealed dummy
Poor
Zoomheads either use emulators or flashcarts if they care about playing on hardware. Collector faggotry is exclusively a pissllennial actively for those searching to "relive their childhood".
I dont care how much someone charges for this, I will never have a desire to need this or play this
Its just a way to organize your boxes, fucking useless
emulate
OG is better, always. This has never not been the case.
You'll survive champ
almost bought a used copy of SoulSilver at Gamestop for $40 15 years ago
WHY WAS I SO RETARDED?
They made 7 million of these
and most are japanese versions that nobody wants
You'll survive champ
Why would I pay 300 dollars for this when I can just get a ROM? Seriously not just nintendo, how does this hurt the publisher who isnt even selling it anymore aside from some faggot reseller doing jew upcharging?
Supply x demand, retards pay for it.
Emulation in most cases is better than the original copy
Don't tell me you're one of those massive retards who sold their games or traded them in when you were done with them, are you?
be me last year
had purchased every Pokemon game as they came out
kept the boxes in good condition
sold them all
bought a car with the money
emulate the games for free
Thanks soibois
You wouldn't. You're a PC vegan so you'll just emulate it according to your dogma.
That's how it is with movies.
you'll just emulate it according to your dogma
implying I dont have original hacked hardware that can load downloaded games
Im not paying 60 bucks for Vice City Stories for the PS2 put the ISO on my BC PS3 and played it no problem or burn it to a dvd to play on my PS2
Lmao what a shit show.
I bought the japanese version for $40 so I could get the cool memory card
Everyone's gotta have a "side hustle" nowadays and a lot of people have taken up """investing""" in old video games as theirs. It's shit, but what can you do.
Nobody told you to buy anything. You are not the main character. Emulate your toy like a good little secondary.
works on my machine.
Pokefags have gone bananas!!
I have a sealed copy of Pokemon White 2. How many decades should I wait before selling it?
We're all broke. People are resorting to ANYTHING to make rent
I want this to be real so I can laugh at reseller fags.
collection shitter mad that he forgot consoles can emulate consoles too
Emulate your toy like a good little secondary.
Enjoy spending 300$ for chidlrens pokeshit lmao
Nice reproduction copy, retard
If 1 out every thousand people on the planet had one, there would still be a shortage of 1 million.
You can already buy most of the Pokemon games digitally.
a friend of mine went home for the holidays and picked up a sealed, duplicate copy of pokemon red he had ever since he was a kid because he got two for christmas. he got it graded and it essentially got a perfect score since it even had the original plastic wrap.
the thing sold for almost $2000.
we're in an absolute fucking clown world. buyer offered to buy all of his games (he has essentially all mainline games) for another $500 but he turned it down
Where
ROM cartridges will outlive everyone in this thread
They were available for years on the 3DS and prices were still sky-high for gens 1 & 2.
Thank you for thinking about me
the flood of 10 trillion cheap reproductions is why the real ones' prices inflated btw
picked up a sealed, duplicate copy of pokemon red he had ever since he was a kid because he got two for christmas. he got it graded and it essentially got a perfect score since it even had the original plastic wrap.
the thing sold for almost $2000.
Based chad
we're in an absolute fucking clown world.
Because you're jealous of his wealth and intelligence?
frog
Checks out
6.5 million of those were thrown out by my mom.
he's my friend, i'm happy for him. the fact that retards pay that much for a game that's so easy to find / emulate is what's stupid
you can't possibly find this "hobby" cool
Sealed copies of vintage pokemon aren't easy to find my speculation blind friend.
I can download a rom so a factory sealed box is easy to find
retardo...
Should have learned Japanese buddy
The more something is reproduced and imitated, the more valuable the real thing will become, this isn't exactly complicated. Unless of course you're holding the same attitude towards literally any and all collectible and/or antique items. In which case I applaud your consistency but spit on your intelligence.
I lost it.
upgrade to DS for birthday
mom makes me give away GBA with games because i have DS now
My mum would just go ahead and sell my games and old consoles/handhelds for cheap on ebay when I stopped using them regularly
imagine not having the original copy you played
this is unironically the source of the price. All of the people with a copy of emerald that they have owned since childhood KNOW they can sell it for 250$ and still refuse to sell. The asking price of the market will continue to increase until enough millennials can be convinced to let go of their old copies.
i have hg in the big box
didn't original pokemon booklets and schematics leak few years ago, so they could basically make them 1:1
they'll fuck up the color of the plastic and print "nintemdu" on the board anyway
I still have my original and the battery is dead and I'm too scared to try to fix it my self that I'll fuck it up.
In a way, I'm glad my mom grew up dirt poor because she understood what it was like to have to get rid of her toys regularly and she didn't want to put me through that. The downside is that she was a hoarder and now I have to deal with throwing all her shit out after she died.
Objectively correct
You can't adjust anything or rom hack and the worst that can happen is a minor visual glitch
If you care about actually playing the games, just get a flash cart. It's expensive up front, but it evens out when you can put an entire set of roms on 1 SD card and still have room for hacks.
most of them were owned by kids back then and kids lose shit all the time
It isn't even worth it from a pokefag collector standpoint because Nintendo and Pokemon co cut off the pokemon bank link on 3DS.
Should I sell my Fire Emblem GBA, GC and Wii games?
I don't care about Fire Emblem anymore
Flip side, my mum sold all that stuff off because we were poor and needed the money. My dad would also regularly pawn the PS2 and games, which would be gone for months at a time.
if you don't take pride in owning it and you'd rather have the money, sell it. just think whether the short term cash satisfies you more than having the games in the long term.
i understand fire emblem is pretty bad now so maybe you'll never like it again. but you should try not to let the new ones ruin the old ones for you.
I lent my friend Metroid Fusion once and after a few months he refused to give it back so my mom drove to his house and told his mom to give me back my game
Afterwards I was never allowed to go back to his house
The game was in terrible condition, the label had been scratched up meanwhile all my other games are in pristine condition because my mom would shout at me and ban me from my consoles if I damaged any of my toys
I only bought emerald so I could get a light ball and a pikachu that knew volt tackle to trade into my fire red cart so I could autistically try to remake red's team from hgss.
Why would I not sell mine at such a high price? Pokemon is the biggest piece of non-gaming faggot shit and I’m glad I cashed out on my game.
This shit really worth that much? I still have my emerald and fire red cartridges. How much could I get for these?
you should've hodl'd out for when the chinese knocks off get tarriffed, causing the legit copies to also increase in value.
Go for it. I sold all of my physical 3DS games and swapped for hacked digital.
were
YOU ARE IN YOUR LE ARBITRARY AGE NUMBER
is that the best you got zoomfag
CIB
no walker
Lol
old enough to be using the "Age is just a number" cope
grim
mom makes me give away GBA with games because i have DS now
Why? Wasn't the DS compatible with GBA games? Did you get the DSi?
Not THAT much, but you can easily get like $60. In the $100s if you got the box and manual too.
I still have my copy of SoulSilver somewhere
lost the Pokewalker a long time ago
got a second hand New 3DS XL from a store for £95 back in 2019
same store is currently selling it for £310
Best purchase I ever made.
Hey bucko, breaking the physical cartridge to put a new watch battery in it is well worth $300. Just send it to the grading company that is totally legitimate this week and you can halve your money in an instant.
Yeah, as long as the game works, I don't see the problem with repros
Age isn't just a number. You're objectively a better person the older you are.
Will prices ever return back to pre-2015 levels for old/retro games?
They shouldn't be this expensive
Even before Covid jacked up retro video game prices, pokemon games were always expensive in the second hand market because no one trades them to gamestop or flea markets for pennies. You say there's millions of these but there are also millions of owners who won't sell you their copy, except for the right price.
Pay up piggy.
ur a secondary if u didnt play it legit
Geez, sounds like someone's little eBay reseller shop isn't doing too well. Maybe you should find another side hustle?
No.
No.
Resellers/game thrifting channels have firmly planted their cancerous mark on this hobby. It's only going to spread even further because even more retards will influenced by them to do this as a "side-hustle" because fuck finding an actual job, why not just wake up at 2 AM to stalk Craigslist and Facebook for any garage sales to take shit to resell at retarded prices.
Rip Paul Walker.
havent seen cousin in over 10+ years
find out he still had his copy of emerald but the battery is dead
ask to buy it from him
"sure just give me 25 bucks idc"
Replaced the battery and it works fine
Besides that steal i also had an ol buddy gift me a pikachu gbc complete in box.
because of some money laundering law in US that forces art buyers to disclose who bought with what money. games arent art so curiously enough games started surging in price after the law change.
No
If anything it'll just be worse, old games circulate almost entirely within the hands of collectors now. New consoles suck dick, the switch 2 is horrible, and PC gaming is fucked with GPU prices and horrendous optimization
No. And pretty soon 7th gen games will be just as bad
Warioland 4, Metroid Fusion, and a handful of other GBA carts did have save batteries you underage ninny.
Yes. I mean no.
Prices on retro games have dropped if consider that there's been 50% inflation over the last few years.
Samefaggot, kys
will anyone care except for people too dumb to pirate?
i guess that might be a pretty big audience, given most of Anon Babble thinks you can't pirate console games without emulating them. we're going to start seeing retards say they HAVE to buy a real copy of folklore because rpcs3 renders pubic hairs at the wrong opacity or something. everyone here is oblivious to console hacking outside the 3DS.
buy battery-dried copy for $90
replace the battery for $5
Not my problem.
lmao?
pay $95 for a 20 year old video game that's trivially easy to pirate
think you put one over on someone
what do you guys think? lack of oxygen at birth?
zoomie retard doesn't know how it feels to own physical games. i pity you
I own like 600 games or so, 80% of those games are like worth 2 to 5 bucks.
The loss you take on the biggest part of your collection is not offset by those few that are worth 250,-.
And I think most people know this:
get feel for old game
get old hardware, its cheap and you have money since your older
get a game
hook it up
Aww yeah.jpeg
play it for an hour
put into storage
Emulation is fine
Something with a fixed supply run from two decades ago that maintained and grew in popularity and interest since rose in price. Why is this confusing or frustrating? It happens with collectibles all of the time. By the way, if you think the prices are bad now, imagine what they will be when the Pokemania-raised generation ages in a decade or two, with all the career advancements and inheritances. Now imagine what they will be when they strike retirement age. Unless the originals are perfectly duplicated to an exactness, that giant demand spike is bound to happen.
It was a privileged/spoiled kid mindset thing my mom had. I also had to hand down my PS1 to my cousins when I got the gamecube. She did not care that the DS had GBA compatibility either.
Yeah bro youre really playing pokemon as it was intended with fucked up sprite scaling on a fucking windows computer thats just as good as playing it on a gba
I can take a photo of the Mona Lisa and print if infinite times so the original should be worth nothing
Lots of retards in this thread apparently
This. Fucking America ruining retrogaming for profit. Are the Pokemon cards not enough?
How many of the millions of copies have been broken, lost, or thrown away over the years? How many are just laying latent in attics and closets, effectively removed from circulation? Pokemon got how much more popular since release? Pokemon fans who were between the ages of 1-18 at release are how much older and wealthier now?
retards pay this much for a widely aviable electronics product
Let me guess: They are just trying to find another sucker who'll pay even more, right?
I thought I overpaid on Gamestop years+ ago but I guess not. I don't remember what I paid but it wasn't more than $50.
Already had Sapphire but bought Emerald for the fun glitches and duping. Was going to transfer duped TMs to Gen4 but I later learned you can generate and upload your own stuff with the GTS exploit.
you mean the 'original' seal
They made 7 million of these. Why is it pushing $300?
Hoenn was a shitty region and I threw my cartridge in the trash. That said, I don't have my original Red cartridge either.
*BTW you can still get old wondercards that way. I don't know who hosts the server nowadays though.
it's 2025 and he still doesn't know you can emulate on consoles
Hell you can even natively run GBA games on a 3DS, no emulation required
The last time I checked, the box was worth even more than the game itself because so few of them survived.
I put them in a time capsule two decades ago because I felt they were important to me kek.
almost bought a used copy of Pokemon Blue with box for $10
didn't buy because the guy wouldn't sell for $5
happens
shiny hunters need 50+ instances of the game running
why can't you just gameshark it
