Reminder that Freelancer almost up until it was released didn't let you control your ship. It was AI piloted and you just gave it AI commands to follow. Last minute they gave it actual controls and ended up making one of the smoothest flight systems ever.
The ship you have in Freelancer is actually an NPC that is given the location you have to fly to based on your mouse's location and figures out how to fly to that.
