The similarities to deemo are so specific and detailed that it has to be intentional

the similarities to deemo are so specific and detailed that it has to be intentional

both games center on a girl who lost her beloved older brother in a fatal accident where he died protecting her

the girls names are alice (deemo) and alicia (clair obscur)

both brothers were piano players who are shown in cutscenes playing piano with their sister

both girls end up in magical/dream worlds inside elaborate classical manors after the trauma

both games have the exact same belle époque/victorian classical aesthetic

the manor is the central location in deemo and a crucial recurring location in clair obscur

both girls are physically damaged from the same accident that killed their brother (alice is dying/comatose, alicia is scarred and mute)

both have mysterious figures trying to prevent the girl from learning the painful truth (masked lady in deemo, various family members in clair obscur)

the dead brother continues to protect and watch over his sister even after death

piano music is central to both stories as the connection between the siblings

both games feature interactive pianos where you can play songs

both have large ghostly piano players (deemo himself, the ghost in clair obscur's manor)

both stories are ultimately about grief, letting go, and accepting the truth about the brother's death

both end with the girl having to choose between staying in the fantasy world or returning to painful reality

like come on. a girl named alice/alicia loses her piano-playing older brother in an accident, lives in a classical manor, exists in a dream world shaped by grief, with piano music as the central connection to her dead brother? and they both have the exact same belle époque aesthetic?

this is either the most insane coincidence in gaming history or clair obscur is directly inspired by deemo. given how specific these parallels are, especially the names and the piano-playing brother dynamic, i'm convinced the devs played deemo and built their entire story around that same emotional core

anyone else notice this? feels like clair obscur is basically "what if we made deemo into a full jrpg"

Same with Myst. I think the main ideas guy used an ai chatbot to generate a story.

Where are all the shills at? Somebody should point them here.

Is that true? I've never played Myst. How far do the parallels go with myst?

there moms don't wake them up for eggs and bakey until about 10 am

Story is about a family of [blank] that can create worlds inside [blanks]. The big backdrop of the game takes place in these [blanks] and the philosophical issue that arose between the family of [blanks] is the divine between people that think they create the worlds in the [blank] and those that think the worlds in the [blanks] are real living worlds themselves. As you explore the [blanks] you will unravel what happened to the family.

What game am I talking about?

Why?

oh and also

the core combat mechanics are literally rhythm game mechanics - timed button prompts, dodging/parrying based on visual cues, hitting inputs at precisely the right moment.

They didn't just take deemo's story and aesthetic, they translated the actual rhythm gameplay into turn-based combat

bump

so the french completely ripped them off..

The french ripped off the chinese lol

i was foolish to think they created something unique

What a sorry premise for a shill thread
Pajeets really have no shame

Shill thread? Shill for whom?

All the character interactions are like watching a shitty low budget netflix series trying to cash in on the success of a bigger netflix series
As opposed to jrpg's where its rhe same thing but replace series with anime

Would be very interested in this as well.

Redditors being fraud hacks as usual

Whoever hires your pajeet engagement farm in new Delhi. I guess they pay you less rupees if the thread reaches page 10 too quickly, which is why you bumped.

I bumped because I want to discuss the similarities between the two games, and it gives more people chance to see the thread and respond.

Show us more similarities, post screens

We need to call out the french lmao

This was similar to act iii but for act i and act ii it was on their own.
The idea of the writer was "a painter entering the canvass" while Aline was from Broche's mom saying the worst thing that could happen to her is losing her child.

Not similar enough

Shills are literally scrambling to hide these threads.
My roommate in college loved Deemo. This shit is indefensible.

zoomzoom

kys

Big if true, but that isn't enough

Post solid evidences

Blue Prince?

The story and the themes are very similar, as well as the gameplay mechanics. See the OP.

I just read the plot synopsis of Deemo and it does seem pretty similar

one is a literal who game and the other is an instant modern classic, who cares?

who cares?

Apparently enough people to spam said literal who claptrap on Anon Babble for the past week or so.

Anon Babble is not the majority of the internet, this will pass under the radar and expedition 33 will go unfazed

Good, I'm sick of seeing that french trash everywhere.

I'm very surprised I've never seen anyone mention the connection before.

Go make a thread about these similarities on the subreddit and see how it's received.
The devs lurks it everyday.

I second this idea. OP should post this idea in the subreddit and screencap the comments because I'm not touching that site with a 10 foot pole

OP here, I don't use reddit. But if anyone else wants to, you're welcome to do so.

bump

Wasn't there some kind of plot in deemo about people vanishing forever in the rain or something that was reminiscent of gommaging?

good morning sir,
your reading comphrension is ESL tier lmao

Not reading all that, get a life, go on a diet, bleach your skin and stop being retarded

Not in Deemo Reborn. Idk about the other games.

mobile f2p rhythm game

I'd argue the majority of people never heard of Deemo.

Oh yeah, so the plot in deemo ii (?) was about the rain that turns them into flowers and they die. I remember it because even though I never played the game, I keep having dreams where I can't go into the rain or I die.

This is BIG. Indian shill are in shambles. Fuck those frogs ripping off based anime and turning it into woke UE slop. We won.

I'm pretty sure that there are a lot more fantasy/scifi stories where people turn into flower petals, though.

I don't really get the obsession people have with claiming that something is plagiarised. Nearly every Shakespeare play had its plot stolen from some other source, including the big ones like Macbeth and King Lear. What really matters isn't the idea, but the execution.

Deemo Reborn is a high quality paid PC game.

Still doesn't change the fact that the franchise is basically unknown.

I never heard of it until I heard 'I Race the Dawn' by Kevin Penkin in a gacha video. What a banger of a track; it makes you feel nostalgic and bittersweet all at once.

well the game is just a mish-mash of other games, not that I give a shit because one way or another because games rip each other off all the time but the whole camp companion interaction thing was a blatant rip-off of BG3 (only terribly done), the flag thing is dark souls, the gameplay is final fantasy

Apparently the biggest influence of Clair Obscur is a book called La Hordu Du Contrevent by Alain Damasio. But there's no translation... Why?????

Anti-expedition fags have gone through so many different types of strategies in just a month to try to convince people that the game they didnt even play is shit and now they're claiming plagiarism
I swear you faggots truly cannot handle that people simply like a game and that nows its popular because of it. Merit based success doesn't actually exist for you people.

'I Race the Dawn'

generic electro slop

good

There's no such thing as originality in fiction. People can only imagine combinations of what they've seen.

Deemo sucked so none of these points matter.

The Plagiarists used you against us once before. They won't hesitate to use you again

you don't know what originality means retard

plagiarism is a good thing

The thing is the devs of expedition already directly listed their references by naming their favorite games.
The gameplay designer was pretty blatant with that with all his favorite games mechanically being implemented into expedition 33

Name a truly original author.

No, I was inferring that the french shit is a literal who game that only exists on Anon Babble because of a relentless shill campaign on the game from onwards but you were being too dense to get it, retard shill.

The thing is the devs of expedition already directly listed their references by naming their favorite games.

Where? Did they list Deemo?

Jews.

I kinda refuse to believe there's no translation, it's like one of the top 3 most famous french fantasy novel.

The Book of Genesis was probably composed around the 5th century BCE;[3]

Scholars believe that the flood myth originated in Mesopotamia during the Old Babylonian Period (c. 1880–1595 BCE) and reached Syro-Palestine in the latter half of the 2nd millennium BCE.[20] Extant texts show three distinct versions, the Sumerian Epic of Ziusudra, (the oldest, found in very fragmentary form on a single tablet dating from about 1600 BCE, although the story itself is older), and as episodes in two Akkadian language epics, the Atrahasis and the Epic of Gilgamesh.[21] The name of the hero, according to the version concerned, was Ziusudra, Atrahasis, or Utnapishtim, all of which are variations of each other, and it is just possible that an abbreviation of Utnapishtim/Utna'ishtim as "na'ish" was pronounced "Noah" in Palestine.[22]

Numerous and often detailed parallels make clear that the Genesis flood narrative is dependent on the Mesopotamian epics, and particularly on Gilgamesh, which is thought to date from c. 1300–1000 BCE.[23]

I mean, judaism, islamism and christianity are basically three fanfics of the same thing and is characteristic of the very first fan war in which people committed murder.

He is an original author then

7lkJwzXQPY.jpg - 1912x1080, 268.44K

there's only like 10 stories that exist in the world history repeats n shit

frenchrights.com/the-horde-of-counterwind
Sample only available to people in the publishing industry. It's so over. The only fantasy translation that came out recently was Vita Nostra...

It a very generic premise.

Nigger I dont think anyone's heard of that game
sandfall.co/
Go to the website where it lists their team and you see which games they like the CEO got to implement most of his favorites

Favorite games: Persona 3, Devil May Cry, Demon's Souls, Journey, Final Fantasy VIII

But seriously I really doubt most people have heard of your game since its quite literally my first time even seeing it being mentioned

the whole camp companion interaction thing was a blatant rip-off of BG3

Ehm
BG3 tried to copy DA Origins there. Greedfall tried that too. But ye DA:O really started this.

There are also interviews where the director said that he was inspired by Sekiro and the Lost Odyssey.

Take that back! Deemo is a great game.

Anon
Deemo is a Chinese game
Chinese people are unable of having a single original thought in their lives. While it's true that both games are taking things from the same book, E33 adds way more original things.

both games are taking things from the same book

Which book?

The Horde of Counterwind

Nice, since E33 is a 10/10 game, I'll get Deemo on a sale. I expect at least a solid 8/10. Looks pretty fun. And I'll find out how much similar E33 is really.
I don't feel like you're saying this in bad faith (i.e. to shit on a game), but still not easy to trust Anon Babble these days.

If by "shill" you mean "E33 fans", then I'm pretty sure OP is one.

You may want to consider consuming your prescribe tablets.

follows the 34th Horde, a group of 23 children raised to walk against the wind in a harsh, wind-swept world, in their quest to find the origin of the destructive wind

The 34th Horde. Heh.

Looked it up and it seems it has nothing to do with the similarities in the OP.

No Alice/Alicia character

No piano-playing older brother who dies protecting his sister

No Belle Époque manor setting

No piano music as central element

No grieving sister in a dream world

No rhythm-game-style mechanics

OP here, I'm not shitting on E33. I love Deemo and I really like E33 as well.

0 results for "deemo" on r33 subreddit

I can't be the first one to have noticed this can I?

better test my theory on reddit!

Perhaps consider staying there.

Wait until you hear about SSSS Gridman, OP

Do DLCs add story content, or are they just additional songs you can play?

The only thing I get from this information is that for a change OP didn't copy-paste his thread from twitter or re**it.

are they just additional songs you can play?

Just additional songs.

Nice, then I'll get only the game first and DLCs if I want more, thanks.

Give me full synopsis and spoilers since it seems like it is none in the internet.

And? Prey is a blatant System Shock/Bioshock ripoff, doesn't make it any less great. Only l*wyers and j*ws care about games ripping other games off.

I have read that book. It doesn't have a piano playing older brother who tragically died in an accident and Alice was not deeply wounded by the same accident leading her to a fantasy world where her brother is a ghost that takes care of her without you initially realizing that is your brother. It also doesn't take place in a manor, has no rhythm mechanics, nobody tries to prevent Alice from learning the painful truth, piano music is not central to it, the story is not about grief nor letting go nor accepting the truth about a brother's death.
So, yeah, not really. The first name is the same though, so props on that.

I love the songs especially. I keep playing them long after I've finished the game.
Here's one of them that I love, transcribed to a piano (a lot of the songs have more varied sounds than just the piano)
youtube.com/watch?v=XCp_X6_1R4w
It's so poignant and beautiful

did you miss the part where I said I don't care and that games rip each other off all the time

there's a piano and a dude

wow, that changes everything!

reminder, it's very much possible to finish the game without seeing Verso play piano once (don't do his events and choose the Verso ending), it's not a focal point

it's not a focal point

It absolutely is.

it's very much possible to finish the game without seeing Verso play piano once (don't do his events and choose the Verso ending),

That's doesn't disprove that it's a major element of the game.

obscur-piano.png - 1325x721, 2.14M

Same energy as "this game has swords and knights, totally a Dark Souls rip-off".

Having a piano playing older brother and a focus on pianos is just one of the many parallels between the games.

Not bad. I generally like rhythm games, but I seldom play them, because they mostly consist of what sounds like generic anime openings.

I'm afraid playing the game disproves it. Verso's fondness for piano or music in general has no bearing on the story at all. It's mostly only mentioned to give his character some depth.

but I seldom play them, because they mostly consist of what sounds like generic anime openings.

Yeah the songs in Deemo are nothing like generic anime openings.

two dudes irl invented calculus at more or less the same time, it's by no means a stretch that two similar video games exist.

I find it very hard to believe that none of the devs took inspiration from Deemo given just how similar they are. The parallels are striking.

the chat bot generated plot makes sense. that's how they work, they just rip off whatever they've been fed. e33 guy just chatgpt'd a plot and then tossed it to a group of redditors to make dialogue

mentioning AI really only drives people into frothing rage on reddit, you should consider going back there.

WRONG BoF3 and 4 had a camp where you could talk to your party about recent events

the director directly cited FFXV specifically as the inspiration for the camp companion interactions

Japan lost

Yep, this kind of music should work. I'll definitely get the game during the next sale.

yes, I'm sure the people only hate shilled FOTM garbage are....redditors....not Anon Babble.

game I don't like steal from another game

BOOOOO, I hope you'll end up being sued

game I like steal from another game

FUCK YEAH, Dev were inspired by another game? gotta try that game

People are funny

But who did they rip it off from? I'm not aware of any other game or a book with the same core plot.

OP here. I like both games. It's just weird how striking the parallels are and how I seem to be the first person to have noticed them.

Bump

the piano was invented by an italian in the 16th century

That was easy to debunk

Damn I can't believe they ripped off [main cast talking to each other] from another video game as if that hasn't been a thing for longer than you've been on this earth

I'm french and I've never heard of it, and I do read a lot

as if that hasn't been a thing for longer than you've been on this earth

It hasn't

NTA, but I believe Dragon Age Origins was actually the first game to have the "BG3 camp", aka this pocket dimension you can warp to from anywhere with party members standing around waiting to be romanced.

I mean, I guess Chrono Trigger kinda sorta had something like this? But not really. You can tell that E33 and BG3 are clearly aping DAO here.

Yeah I guess that's on me, I just wanted to brag.

I mean French Fantasy (not fantastical genre, fantasy in the english meaning) is relatively recent and is not considered prestigious , but if you care even a bit about the genre you should have absolutely heard about it.

Deemo

Literally Who: The Game

Which one are you saying is the literally who game? Deemo or Clair Obscur?
