is it ok to assume a certain amount of experience and intelligence from the player?
Is it ok to assume a certain amount of experience and intelligence from the player?
Could you repeat the question?
I would prefer to assume such
if we couldnt assume that they're at least capable of breathing without a tutorial reminder, games would have to be somehow even more dumbed down
Its the current year bro.
Yes. Most gamers should be able to draw on their experience with other games' barrels.
Pic unrelated?
Toddslop is made for the lowest common denominator
i mean, it assumes the player can read and follow instructions without a retarded pointer.
It doesn't which is why all the quests tell you exactly what to do down to the steps to take to get to your destination
Its like a children's treasure trail.
Most of the quests do put a marker on your map.
A 2nd grade education isn't impressive or a difficult requirement
Morrowind was my first Elder Scrolls and had never played a game like it before so no experience is needed and nothing but basic reading and memory skills to play well.
Basically as long as you are above 90iq you should be fine.
Yes, and it's sad.
If you could even just play morrowind, you're in the upper echelons of "gamer" intelligence
And it's not even a complicated game, especially at the time, but you had fully grown men bouncing off the game because of hit chance and being so stupid or even legitimately mad about it that they were incapable of figuring out what the problem was
Further the oblivion generation by and large not bothering to even check out the previous game in this "series" they're a huge fan of, either because they had the same problem I described, or someone else told them "oh bro you can't even hit shit in that game, don't bother"
It's reasonable, OP, but it's also a tragedy
Daggerfall is even more bullshit
yes, not everything has to pander to the lowest common denominator
assume a certain amount of experience and intelligence from the player
It's not only ok, but also should be a requirement for most games, the fact that games don't ask the player to pay at least a little bit of attention is the reason of gaming sharp decline in quality over the years
very few quests actually mark your map.
Shame Morrowind does
nigga, shut your bitch ass up.
you give morrowind to a 2025 zoomie and they wouldnt be able to make it past reading the first wall of text.
Just the numbers of retards increases, doesn't mean Morrowind wasn't dumbed down retard shit. And I don't mean from Daggerfall
morrowind was dumbed down because there isn't thousands of prompts to click through
fuck off, sit on a nigga dick bitch ass faggot
Your classes don't matter in TES. You don't need to commiment to anything. The game takes more effort not to break.
It's an RPG series for people too retarded for normal ones
It's like being able to do basic long division.
It's not impressive, they teach you that shit in school when you're like 12.
But the amount of people who can't do it makes it a remarkable skill, despite its simplicity and ease of entry.
No they don't, fucking retard.
and I don't mean from Daggerfall
And what the fuck do you mean then? From DnD where a DM keeps it from going full retard?
I genuinely want some crpgs where classes do matter, what are some?
This. The amount of people that get filtered by Morrowind still blows my mind.
morrowind players sure do enjoy huffing their own farts don't they?
me play game cuz me smart and game is for smart pipol (me)
I can do 50 pushups
You probably can't
I'm not bragging about myself, I'm stating how you're basically subhuman in comparison to my averageness
You will assuredly prove my point in your reply
case in point!!!
Thank you for making me feel good about being a 5/10. It doesn't happen often.
The gameplay isn't that engaging, of course we tell ourselves stories to remain entertained.
TES finna invented open world rpgs
this
"over there" is the thinking man's directions
It doesn't which is why all the quests tell you exactly what to do down to the steps to take to get to your destination
Exactly. It tells you what to do instead of showing you what to do.
Truly brave and stunning and something the average consumer could never
you are expected to read the manual. is that really too much to ask?
openmw
ngmi
Everyone talks about Malacath the poo god but no one ever talks about Vivek being Molag Bal's rape slave
It wouldn't be much of a game if there was nothing to learn.
darksydephil can pick up and play morrowind
No, just patience.
Is that one of the sermons? I thought those were troll books because nothing in those makes any sense.
openmw out of nowhere
mindbroken
or bot
Malacath the poo god
Vivek being Molag Bal's rape slave
Imagine reading a book (written by the Liar or a servant of the Lying entity) making the Liar look cool and thinking that is actually how things happened.
Is that one of the sermons?
yes
he gets raped by molag bal and births a bunch of children (one of them out of his ass, which leads to anal sex being forbidden by the tribunal temple)
No it's not. Assuming a certain level of intelligence is ableist and excludes everyone below it and cuts off sales. It's a lose-lose. Also we live in a very fast paced world you cant expect people to read manuals for things or even do a quick google search and read an AI wrapup blurb. I'm so sick you faggots gatekeeping games are for EVERYBODY
How exactly is "I was raped by the god of rape and a gave birth to his kids through my ass" supposed to make Vivek look cool?
Given how many fags it filters, that's clearly wrong. Skyrim is the kind of game that does though.
Skyrim is actually too complex for the lowest common denominator they don't want to play RPGs at all unless it's something retard friendly like Pokemon
but lowest common denominator fags are the ones who own 3/4 different versions of skyrim
Do you think there were people who went "moving the camera with your mouse? really? is this a game for babies?" When Daggerfall came out
God morrowind is so high IQ, the fact that no one likes it just proves that it's only reserved for the elite
He's a faggot, Vivec likes to show off his faggotry.
what's it like never figuring out how to hit the mudcrab in seyda neen
Back when I played morrowind I would press jump repeatedly to level up the abysmal acrobatics, doing so until the jumping is useful. Usually this would take until about level 8. How autistic is that?
It's weird how morrowind is conidered a casual game for the console audience by RPG fans, and some inaccessible hardcore experience by whatever type of people made this thread.
Not enough. You didn't specify doing it the optimal way so I will just assume that you were a retard about it.
Yeah? Because the fag who gives you the quest wants you to get to the dungeon as fast as possible? You know, like normal people do?
It's weird how morrowind is conidered a casual game for the console audience by RPG fans,
those people barely exist anymore and some
inaccessible hardcore experience by whatever type of people made this thread.
that's literally just people who were 10 when oblivion came out, it's just that there's 6 gorillion of them and they're all 28 years old now or whatever
sitting there acting normal but then they'll say some shit like
actually the shooting in fallout 3 isn't that bad
and invalidate their status as a human being with no self awareness
I jumped every second everywhere I went whilst doing the quests, jumping while going up stairs was very satisfying.
Morrowind is overrated
Timing your jumps on the water is the most satisfying
there are quests in morrowind that dont tell you what to do. usually quests with multiple endings where 1 secret type ending has the best rewards. For example when you find that ebony mine and sell the location to a local lord, you have a bunch of lords all willing to pay a certain amount, but if you can find this other one thats hidden he gives you a daedric weapon for it.
I played it in elementary school so no though most of my "playthroughs" back then consisted of me setting all my stats to 1000 with console and jumping across the map killing everyone, I started "correctly" playing it in high school or so
Today? Absolutely not.
You beaners really overrate the complexity and age of morrowind. Growing up with a Gen 6 gaming doesn't make you a boomer
except the only reason people don't like morrowind is because they're too stupid to play
it's complicated game, and it is overrated
but you are also a fucking retard
all of this is simultaneously true
Morrowind
Dark souls / Elden Ring
Majoras Mask
all games that assume you have over 90IQ and it makes people absolutely fucking seethe when they play it and get filtered. Particularly when those people play the games in the series that were made for sub 90s and then they go in thinking the other game is the same and its a big shock, they never recover and end up shitposting on Anon Babble for years.
Learning your ABCs to reading children books isn't complex. Neither is playing Morrowind just because TES fans take the short bus to school
Pic unrelated? Morrowind is made for consolefags and holds your hand while presenting no challenge. I don't think the average child who played this game would've been able to figure out something as basic as the copy protection for Star Control 2, or really anything from games that required you to RTFM
Morrowind is only good for its writing and the setting. Mechanically, the game is garbage on every level. And not because it's old, in fact it was a precursor of the bad trends of today.
would've been able to figure out something as basic as the copy protection for Star Control 2
how is that a good thing by any conceivable metric
This, fucking Gothic 1 has better mechanics and it is one year older developed by random Germans.
Morrowind was easy though. There were literally girls I spoke to in school who played Morrowind on their brothers' xbox and loved it.
no, that's gatekeeping
If you find a place with a low ceiling you can train super quickly.
Because Star Control 2 doesn't have retarded children on Anon Babble making threads about it
Gothic games fail hard for making you play as that ugly walrus guy though. I never play female characters when given the choice but I sure as fuck ain't playing that mutant either.
Gatekeeping the most entry level rpg series that everyone and their grandmother talks about
It's fucking ancient, it's been superseded by countless games
Star Control 2 doesn't have retarded children
I've never played it but I know enough about vidya to know that everyone involved in the Star Control IP is a massive drama faggot
morrowind is ancient and has been superceded by skyrim
see how retarded you sound?
anon
speaking to girls
At least make it believable next time
yes, but bethesda games are made for mouthbreathers. literal progenitor of mindless open world action RPGs with level scaling and MMO tier "quests"
