The character will never be bad because of her gimmick unless they do something ridiculous like make her jab parry-able or take away the tipper on some moves.

Being able to CC her tippers was a pretty big nerf, and that's not counting the reduced tipper size they did a while ago.

She wasn't good in Rivals 1 so it's very easy to make her mediocre. I don't know which characters she actually beats besides Fleet in 2.

Judy is so much better than indie trannyfur shit it's incredible. They will try their best with fancy clothes and bright colored hair, and then there's this gray rabbit in a police uniform BTFOing them all.

She beats the shit out of a lot of characters in 2 because her disjoint and her gimmick are just fundamentally really good. A lot of people say her only losing MU is Loxodont, who coincidentally happens to have a longer disjoint than her. She rapes Ranno in particular.

I find it hard to believe because she still has the fundamental issue of having to approach when other characters also have insane movement and ways to convert, and there’s a lot of situations Clairen simply can’t handle. She can’t deal with high recoveries that well, she’s terrible at clearing smoke, she probably has the worst platform sharking in the game despite having a sword. I can see Fleet and Etalus losing, the rest not as much.

You're saying that like other characters don't also have to approach. One of the reasons that she makes so many players seethe is that she doesn't need to approach as much and can content herself with zoning you out with disjoints until she gets something she wants, typically a tipper or grab. A lot of Clairens below the big boy ranks can win purely by playing passively and baiting out approaches. The more developed your opponent's punish game and neutral, the worse this works, but she's still quite strong at top levels as a lot of players will attest.

True, I think she's really mediocre at edgeguarding, but I think it's an intentional weakness. That said, she can be really threatening off-stage if she's continuing a combo or string. If she has to reset to stage, you're pretty much free to recover.

I don't think she's broken or anything, but she's a character who just has pretty much everything she needs to succeed at any level and a good amount of depth despite her apparent simplicity.

The main difference between her and most characters is that she has no choice but to approach. Other characters technically don’t have to, for the most part. Maypul is perfectly fine pelting you with projectiles at a distance, waiting for you to throw out a button she can whiff punish. Ranno is similar with needle, or Wrastor dash dancing and just looking for a good time to throw out side B. Admittedly it varies a lot, certain things are parry bait like Zetter’s side B or Loxodont’s projectile, but there’s a sense that most other characters can at least camp for some sort of resource that forces you to go in that Clairen lacks.

Only a skin for Rock Wall, which admittedly looks so good that it makes me feel like they need to do an art pass on the other stages eventually. They want to keep the number of stage layouts limited for competitive reasons while still developing stage skins. However, "fun" stages was an option on the survey they did recently.

I had to deal with that shit in the first game. And it does piss damage and no hitstun, but it’s fast and you get nothing for parrying it either. So in the end, I had to approach in that matchup. I can’t just dash dance in place and constantly get hit by seeds. Down B exists but that’s something that can and does get baited.

PM is pretty distinct from Melee. Not just the gimmicks, which is the obvious difference, but the combo routes and general feel of the game. Melee is kind of sticky and it takes time to adapt to how movement works, and many characters' movesets are full of garbage of niche moves that don't really do anything for them. In contrast, PM is more snappy and responsive, and every character is pretty well-rounded (perhaps too well-rounded). Melee was an accident, whereas PM is Melee with intentional design.

I like pretty much every platform fighter. Some days I feel like playing Melee, some days I feel like playing Rivals (because Brawlback is in development hell).
