Western story
uses symbolism, metaphor, theme, allegory to tell a 2nd or 3rd meta-story that supersedes the base narrative
representational artwork, melodic music, consistent with western cultural style
a plot that flows logically like an artpiece, giving each character their arc that fits snugly in the story
adult level dialogue, assumes the viewer is intelligent enough to pick up on the plot points without much explaining
message is meaningful without being pretentious (not always, but ideally)
characters grow close through shared struggle, shared personality traits, play off each other in subtle yet interesting ways
Japanese story
the bad guy is evil, he did the evil things, he's STRONG too, you have to get stronger
story theme is always the same "protect your friends!, nakama!!!" Sometimes you protect the world as a bonus
resolution to the story is "punch the bad guy really hard"
*insert random cool thing often ripped from other media (flying cars, gundam, laser beam....etc)
*insert airbrained boobsgirl non-character
*insert random cute character that doesn't make sense to the plot
**this stuff doesn't fit into the greater narrative or have any purpose other than a chintzy advertisement
every plot point has to be explicitly spelled out through dialogue or exposition, assuming the viewer has a brain made of cheese
character building consists of "baka baka" funny moment, or "ehhhhh!!!???" with camera panning up to the sky
The reason E33 was better is because it was in a western style, and the western style is superior.
The only reason people fled to japanese media is because of the DEI shit. When that's taken out and all cylinders are firing, there's nothing better than western storytelling
