From my very casual experience just making small games as a hobby, more than you can possibly imagine. Like you can flat out have something always on screen saying word for word what to do and what to press and where to go, and you can have things flashing and highlighted for them to see these things too, and, no joke, half of all players will still miss it. I have seen someone fail a quick time event where the game slowed, a GIANT flashing X button appeared on the screen, a GIANT banner appeared on the screen saying "Press X to dodge!", and the person just sat there looking at it, got hit, then said "how do you dodge attacks?" I have tremendous respect for any company that just says "nope, we're not making games for the masses, we're making games for the people that like games and if you're bad at games, too bad." It's increasingly just indie games, of course, as larger companies need normie bucks to break even, but occasionally you do still see a glimmer of it.

I managed to find several optional things like the Harpy's nest behind the Druid's Grove and the letter implicating Kahga using jumps because they were properly signposted. After circling the map several times and just giving up and going to the Underdark, I looked it up and figured out what I needed to do. An alternate path was to jump down using Feather Fall from the Druid's Grove.

I don't know. Bloodborne has a stone spider boss, I forgot the name but it literally means the retarded spider in Japanese. It's a joke of a boss fight to be honest, but it's mandatory and it doesn't trigger anything in me. There are also spider like enemies in the castle area that have extra legs and move like spiders, but don't look like them at all. They don't scare me at all.

The problem with path markers is down to modern high resolution graphics and minimalist UI/button prompts. Up until the ps3/360 era environments always looked a little different than interactable objects. But since the PS4 they are the same. Literally every pebble on a hill could be an important object but it's impossible to tell without some kind of marker. Sure there is some middle ground between giant yellow arrows and UI markers basically holding the players hand and no information whatsoever, but developers haven't found it yet.

There's no reason to design the game around the skill level of the retarded, it's not like they're checking to make sure a game has yellow paint before playing it

To be fair, the first one is why Kingmaker can't be played with normal tabletop rules. They balanced the game around CharOp shitheads meaning within the first act you're fighting CR7 monsters and by the time you're halfway through the game you're fighting monsters tougher than the tarrasque.

I still laugh my ass off at Satisfactory's "arachnophobia" mode. It does nothing to get rid of the audio cues, but just replaces the spider model with (deliberately) glitchy stills of cat faces. They still move exactly as erratically as the unmodified spiders and I can't possibly imagine it's actually any better if you're really arachnophobic. It comes off as more unnatural than spiders do.

Have consistent gameplay design so gamers can easily understand the parameters and understand where your character can go and what they can do. When your game has a ladder or ledge, and you only have one ladder or ledge in the entire game, then your game fucking sucks and you probably need to highlight that ladder or ledge or else you're expecting gamers to just aimlessly walk around until an action icon pops up.
