The ONLY thing I'll give the Switch 1, is physical ownership of cartridges (something I don't trust with switch 2 keys). However, I didn't get a deck to join in on being apart of a 'sensation' or to be apart of sales numbers. That's fucking gay, I just wanna play Postal 2, or Thief, or years worth of christmas and summers sales on the go.

Going by how big the PC's library is as a whole, including source ports and DOSBOX stuff, there's literally more 'exclusives' than any other console if you think about it.

But I don't think that's the inherit appeal of the Deck. Sure, it could be a gateway for say, a child/younger sibling and you could bridge them in with family share or something. But from what I've seen on here and anecdotally through the few co-workers that are into PC gaming, get a deck when they already have committed to a Steam account over years.

The Deck is not a PC competitor or Killer, it's competing with other handhelds first and foremost. The fact it's a readily available (-U)MPC that you can access your library through is the appeal.

The Deck is an excellent and lightweight travel companion because you don't have to find a place to set down your PC or laptop - you just hold the thing in your hands. It's fantastic for long train and plane rides. The main selling point of the Deck is the Steam Controller bolted on the sides which allows you to play all those PC games that would never be enjoyable on a regular controller. See picrel, and then imagine trying to fit the controls for VTMB on an Xbox gamepad. It'd be a miserable experience, that's for sure.

GoG is fine for what it is, it's not the prettiest but it has a lot of no-bullshit ports with less censorship, less DRM and so on.
Steam is a goliath, but with good reason. It's not like an outright monopoly, it's playing your cards right.
