Why did I stop playing it?

why did I stop playing it?

No mods

you're no longer caught up in bandwagoning and realized you're playing a mid game from 2006 with a UE5 slop paintjob

Because Avalon is literally a better game.

Because you're a zoomer with no attention span

You put it down to scroll and post on Anon Babble and lost interest cuzz it was never about the game it was about being part of something

This the bandwagon moved on and so did he. The game is not mid though that's just bait

MOOOOOOOM, HE POSTED IT AGAIN

It’s the second worst TES game after Arena

no Lovers Lab mods

Because it's oblivion and it was always a shit boring game.

You played 500+ hours of it back in high school and there is nothing new to see after the initial "wow" factor wears off.

Again?

The nostalgia buff wore off and you realized it just isnt that good of a game

Because you realized what you enjoyed about Oblivion was the idea of going back to the time when you played Oblivion on the 360 or whatever over a decade ago. No real issues other than maybe some school work and dealing with your parents arguing, but overall not much going on. You play it again and it's still good, but now you're in a different mindset. You've grown since then and now the game, while great, does not come with the feeling you once had when you were younger and living in a better time.

Before anyone in their early 20s reading this thinks it won't happen to them, it will.

They've got a framework for animations now so cooming will be in full swing SOON

It's fucking boring.

Zoom zoom

Stuttering UE5 slop, no soul of the original, no mods

No mods

Ascension is the only mod you need to fix level scaling

I'm having fun with it, but now at level 13 I'm starting to feel like I should scrap my entire build and start fresh. The issue with that is, the game's content is it's quests, and I don't want to just keep redoing them. I fucked up by exploring the forests collecting alchemical ingredients and leveling alchemy (a minor skill) to 62 (higher than all my other skills). Now I'm at a point where mountain lions and black bears spawn and my sword (blade level 38) is useless against them, even with all the points I dumped into strength (80), so I have to rely on weakness spells to prime them, then finish them off with a destruction spell or two.

because you played it too much when you were a kid

Oblivion's gameplay loop is the weakest out of the main TES games, quests are nice in paper but their individual stories aren't and the replayability isn't very good, especially lacking mods

Everybody bought it, played for a few hurs and dropped it.
If you want old school jank just play Fall of Avalon

literally a game from 2006 in a bloated engine

oblivian was never good, in fact TES was never good

i stopped after like 180 hours because it was getting a slog trying to 100%% all the towers and dungeons
i recommend not trying to 100% the map

You're allowed to not like it, but TES does things that other action RPGs still fail at. There's nothing that does immersion better, and that's pathetic isn't it?

They don't exist to 100%, they exist so you can do other things if you make a new character. Most of those gates and dungeons aren't linked to any quests.

because you got cyberbullied into hating things you actually enjoy.
Fucking loser lmao

Put in 150 hours with 3 characters. I'll probably put in another 100 when the coomer mods come.

Did she eat Caminalda

I don't want you, and I don't care to want you

How the fuck should I know?

Did she eat Caminalda

I did. NBO adds huge fat naturals to almost every female. He needs to reel in the jiggle physics, though. I can't open my inventory without tits flopping like crazy.

trying to 100%% all the towers and dungeons

they fully respawn after 3 days. theres literally no way to clear the dungeons.

also, 180 hours? im at 80 hours and have nearly all my skills maxed and all attributes are 75+. im going to quit after i finally get around to shivering isles because theres no challenge and 99% of loot is worthless to me. i cant even imagine making it to 180.

no i was fully exploring all dungeons and towers. 100% doesnt have any relation to "it respawns" i explored it and cleared it 1x

muh shitter comment at the end

okay kid, go play e33 or something watch cutscenes for 5 days straight

TES was never good

Objectively contrarian take
Kill yourself

oh shit we got an oblivion pro gamer here
you on the leaderboard dawg?

No, he's right in the sense that TES ever since it hit consoles hasn't been good. In other words, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. If they expanded on Daggerfall you'd have the greatest RPG of all time, but they didn't so here we are.

expedition 33 literally lives rent free in my head

weird flex, but ok.

feel free to play another 100 hours of the copy-pasted dungeons just so you can appease your imaginary checklist. i do not give a fuck. i was just commenting that my playthrough became mindless way before your playtime.

And nothing else has come along to challenge it. No other game is like it.

Did the Thieve's Guild
Did the Mage's Guild
Did the Dark Brotherhood
Did the Did the Fighter's Guild
Did the Arena
Did the Daedric Shrine Quests
Did the Knights of the Nine
Did the Shivering Isles
Did the Main Quest
My journey was complete and I moved on

Except not really, I still seem to get on it and fuck around a bit, just not ABSORBED by it like I was before I 100%'d it. But that's how it goes so.... I wasn't exactly expecting something different. You beat a game you move on lol.

this desu, i was playing oblivion earlier this year looking for a fps rpg and was pleasantly surprised when they came out with the remaster. i ended up buying it and putting100hr doing in my playthrough, doing everything but the main questline then just stopped and havent turned it on since. now playing tainted grail, holy shit the combat is so much better than tes games.
hes right though, it can be really fun playing a game on release when everyone else is playing and exploring it. helps that some already have played it to death so sharing some insight with your friends and Anon Babble can be a lot of fun.

Cause you realized closing the oblivion gates over and over is the most boring shit in the world.

I give a lot of respect to Starfield for trying. Shame it was set in space instead of in a fantasy setting, but I'm happy the relatively smaller community of fans for it enjoy the game.

I played the original a couple times but unninstalled the remake after 10 hours.
Other than the censorship I dont have any complains towards the remake and the cities look rather nice but the source material doesnt cut it anymore. Its all so... pointless

You realized the things Skyrim did better outweigh the things it did worse.

How come in every Oblivion thread there is some guy that says "maaan I fucked up, I leveled up Alchemy and didn't level up any combat skills and now I am kind of screwed". Every single Oblivion thread there is one of you.

Because it's natural from playing the game. You go through dungeons, run across the overworld, fight at every opportunity, and despite all those being major skills, they still don't stand a chance versus a minor in alchemy just burning the ingredients you found along the way. Alchemy is also the only good way of making money, unless you like reapplying feather every minute.

My game doesn't even have Oblivion gates.

Also, if your acrobatics is high enough, you can just skip 90% of them and go right to the final room and yank the sigil stone and close it in less than a minute or two. I never understood people that bitched and moaned about the Oblivion gates so much. You can close them as fast as you want, and you can even permanently remove them from your save file by completing the MQ if you hate them so much.

I don't like them because they're supposed to be content, but once you've done two of them, you've seen everything you need to see. The oppressing "this is literal Hell" atmosphere doesn't even lend towards a sense of urgency. I'd rather slowly sneak through a minimally inhabited (as it should be) abandoned mine finding journal entries to read along the way. You CAN run through the gates quickly to grab a sigil, but it sucks that they're not fun to do.

No need to put that in a spoiler. Starfield gets way more shit than it deserves honestly.

Choose you're's argonian waifu:

Dar-Ma the friendly girl you save from a kidnapping

Seed-Neus the milf

Quill-Weave the sneaky novel writer

Deetsan the magic nerd (always happy to help a new guy)

Druja the magic nerd (shut-in dweeb)

Tar-Meena the magic nerd (friendly bookworm who can get grumpy when the boss and other departments have retarded requests)

Skaleel the magic nerd (/ archaeology nerd)

Kud-Ei the magic nerd (ignore that she has an elf bf)

Ocheeva the murderous dark sister

City-Swimmer the stealthy sewage canal explorer

Shivering Isles extras!

Runs-In-Circles the barefoot runner who likes friends and yummy crunchy veggies :D

Tall-Trees-Falling the depressed poetic soul

Beelei the paranoid schizo

Sheer-Meedish the party-loving tavern runner

idk I like the Oblivion gates, but I never do all of them. I usually close about 15-20 of them per playthrough as I finish the MQ. If I had set out to close all of them, I'd probably hate them, but I think they're good when you do them moderately.

I haven't played Oblivion in a decade or so. And I'm enjoying the remaster. Makes for comfy sessions after work.

Oblivion Remastered is the best RPG I've played since the original Oblivion. What a journey.

Totally broken mess that becomes literally unplayable the longer you play it
Todd can’t keep getting away with this bros

t. never played it just repeats what sloptubers have to say about it

Starfield gets way more shit than it deserves

bullshit. it's mediocre at its core. if it was being undeservedly hated on people would actually still be playing it to appreiate its good qualities. literally no one plays it

t. Todd Howard

Most underrated villain of the TES universe

Now that the dust has settled, how big of a sale should I wait for before getting this?

why did anyone even buy it? lol

Just get it now. This is probably the most fun I've had in a single player RPG since as far back as I can remember.

OK Tod- I mean "anon" I sure will ;)

didnt fix hit detection

didnt fix level scaling

actually its just the same engine but with a paid graphics overhaul

what the actual fuck is the point

Didn't fix level scaling

They effectively did though

That's shitrim though

shitrim.jpg - 4121x2373, 2.92M

i have gamepass

ADHD

you can stop shilling your indie trash now

Didn't fix shopping confirmation

Or poison confirmation

Quest rewards are still leveled

Magic is still king because Attributes and Skills for weapon damage don't scale past 100

K.

literally no one plays it

I do. It's a pretty good game and I've been enjoying it.

How the fuck would I know retard

Magic is still king because Attributes and Skills for weapon damage don't scale past 100

I dont get why they did that. it wasn't like that in morrowind

Quest rewards are still leveled

Once you leave the sewer gates just fuck around and explore, kill some bandits and goblins n shit, make some money selling shit, hit level 30, then begin questing. It doesn't take very long to level up.

You're a zoomer with ADHD and moved to something with instant gratification

zoomer.jpg - 268x221, 17.72K

Well it runs original Goblivion in an UE5 container. People think that the stutters are only because of UE5 but that's not the case it's stuttering because the original game was barely able to hold itself together..
Every time Oblivion gate pops up somewhere cpu usage slyrockets for no reason and so on and so on.

I have played 5 hours and I'm at level 3 now. I'm using Ascension de-leveled stuff but the progress is really slow. I have gained 2 levels by jumping/acrobatics, not even from the combat alone.

You stopped because the dungeons are shit, the oblivion gates are shit, level scaling is shit, and the world is empty as shit.

Yeah you can mod out the "issues" as well. Most of the shit people complain about in Oblivion can be solved in-game though.

I have modded it, not sure if there's something what is slowing down the xp gains.

I actually regret that year ago I made a gigantic original Oblivion mod installation and it took over a week to put together and get it running. Then lost all my interest. At some point I upgraded my disks and deleted it... sad!

you're not using a mod that slows down leveling?

randomized procedural loot

dungeons that were slapped together in 5 minutes using premade building blocks

the higher level you get the more tedious the combat becomes

it gets repetitive

>didnt fix level scaling

the entire stat and loot system would need to be remade to "fix" the level scaling, it would be a massive undertaking.

They should have had attributes level in a different way. Getting boosts for leveling minor skills incidentally in the background makes for an uneven experience.

Honestly not following Skyrim and Fallout 4 by not locking certain quests behind player level
Sorry but the Ice Blade of Pure Power gained from a quest completed at level 3 losing to a random level 8 sword is and will always be fucking retarded.

I'm suspecting it's a compatibility patch issue, something what I might have overlooked. It's pretty easy to do that, I have 80 mods by now. I rarely use xedit to check them.
Modding is always a long process.

Sorry but the Ice Blade of Pure Power gained from a quest completed at level 3 losing to a random level 8 sword is and will always be fucking retarded.

It's for balance. The point is to constantly seek out stronger and cooler weapons. Why even bother doing quests or explore if you get the strongest items right at the start? And locking quests behind levels just railroads the player into the same path every single time. Everyone's experience will be the same.

remaster leveling system retard proofed the leveling up so you can pick any attribute to level up +5 when you level.

That's not what I mean. You level up through any skills getting raised. Getting points to put into attributes like strength and personality just because you jumped around and made some potions sucks. Now your skills that do damage are the same, but now you encounter stronger monsters. Leveling attributes should have had an entirely different system.

not that guy but yeah, I know why they do what they do, its just not executed well.
Why do the stats scale at such an insane pace that a level 3 sword from a special quest is already outscaled by a drop from a random level 5 chest? Why arent quest rewards about 5 levels above your level so it feels meaningful to do the quest instead of it being inferior to a randomized chest or bandit drop? Quest rewards could give items with unique bonuses that are good early game and fall off late game but are viable for most of the game in niche situations or something.

then people would look up where to get the best items and ruin the game for themselves

not a good reason, retards will always find a way to ruin the game for themselves, if you try catering to them too hard you ruin the game for everyone else

then replaying the game a second time will not be as interesting because you already know where to go to get the best items

I would rather my first playthrough be as interesting as possible rather than sacrificing the enjoyment of the first for the second.

Like i did a deadric quest and got an item as a reward, and the item was already outclassed from an item of the same type i got from some bandits while running back to turn in the daedric quest.

I'd pick Deetsan personally, shame that Ocheeva has to be killed. Oblivion had lots of great Argonian girls.

Why arent quest rewards about 5 levels above your level so it feels meaningful to do the quest

Because the truth is, just like every game, the real reward is the quest itself. The story, the context to actual be doing the things you're doing, the little notes and quest pop ups along the way. The sword is a nice little gameplay extra. 5 levels can be a long time, and there's enough special weapons to collect at each interval.

its already a baby game anon, you dont need it to be easier and you dont need to hold back leveling up. Even if you play on master just use alchemy, conjuration, and/or custom weakness spells to cheese it. If you arent playing on master then good lord are you ever being silly thinking you need to minmax the game that hard.

weird cop out that could also be used as an argument in favor of my post anyways.

This. If you are garbage or don't give a fuck about learning the mechanics just play on the easier difficulties. If you want to play on the higher difficulties then invest into learning the meta. Use conjuration, hide behind your shield, use paralyze/weakness spells, go 100% chameleon/reflect if you want to straight up break the game.

I play on adept/expert depending on my mood and I just blast things with a couple spells + finish off anything that's still alive with an enchanted blade (which I keep charged with azura's star). Just play the game in a way that suits you and that you enjoy.

Mindbroken faggot

not an argument

Oblivion CHADS > Shitrim trannies

No time, must work

Because you’re a zoomer raised by a single mother and there was no big tit anime girl train surfing to hold your rotted brain’s ADHD attention span long enough

Because you wondered into a cave and now you discovered a blue guy training camp. You are followed by 20 guys for the past 10 saves. There is special looking door blocking you.

Because you never bought it.

no, it wont.
some people arent retards and can separate such things from what they enjoyed about the games.

the higher level you get the more tedious the combat becomes

git good
