before that i used crafters for pretty much everything because combat wasn't hard yet and their sp regen is enough for you to gather with

I would only do this in the scenario that your Lives are capped at 100 and equipped with your desirable rolled legendary gear. Flipping back and forth and traveling to the spawned event is already time consuming, forfeiting XP and slate drops by participating in the event which accounts for like 30% of the grind is not much faster. If cutting down that godly tree or killing the sheep takes up most of the run, that just means you need the progression and after enough events a level 40 and level 80 node is a 20 second difference.

What true time equipment should I make first? Weapon, gathering, or crafting? I'm going to assume it's either the weapon or a hammer for blacksmithing.

i only plan on doing the easy ones to get areas to rank 6, which is where everything starts spawning - once they're at 6 i'll keep em there and deal with the i presume level 90 nodes for the exp gains and even better loot drops than the 80s

im not sure if this is common knowledge, but once a "YOU NEED 45 POINTS INVESTED" skill tree node has been unlocked, its stays unlocked permanently, even after you reset points. so you can get to level 60 or so, put points in frivolous crap just to get your 'points invested' counter nice and high, and once you unlock the node, reset your points and only spend it on the good stuff.

I think Ginormosia is the perfect addiction to the game compared to the old version.
I'm still at chapter 4 and I'm not advancing the story, I'm just grinding away in the desert. I discovered after trying for myself that you can remake the rare weapons and tools you drop, even if you cannot craft them yet. This makes hunting for rares very fun.
It makes it similar to an open world experience where you just grind away while unlocking strangelings and having a large goal of opening the whole map and building your base. And you get the cute artstyle and wives.

You can grind treasure troves and look for the boss veggie you need

but crafters stats help you make better stuff, so giving them good tools is very important, gatherers need better tools to do more damage to nodes and combat buddies want better gear to deal more damage and take less
