What's the current best version of WoW to play? I haven't played in a while and have been getting "the itch", but it looks like the game is fragmented into a bunch of different versions now. Which is the best and most populated?
What's the current best version of WoW to play? I haven't played in a while and have been getting "the itch"...
best
Tbc or cata
most populated
Vanilla followed very very VERY far away by wotlk and tbc
Wasn't aware tbc was an option - where do I install it?
Why not just Turtle? It's free.
test
TBC is coming out end of this year / beginning next year. Currently there's a fresh vanilla run that will go to Wrath, the original Classic that's currently on the last patch of Cataclysm I believe with Mists of Pandaria coming out in some months and there's retail.
I played Classic up until Cataclysm. It was enjoyable still but definitely feels different from the game I grew up with and not something I want to continue. Might check out Panda land since I never played it all, looking forward mostly to the opening event and maybe I'll quest a little but won't get invested. Just started a new character on fresh, going to take it slowly and play up until TBC, the itch will be gone by then.
the fuck is that?
not that anon but, classic wow with, in my opinion tasteful custom content that doesnt feel too out of place. 2 additional races, high elf for ali, goblin for horde. Currently just hit level 30 and it's been a fun ride so far but this is also the only version of wow i've played in the last decade so no clue how it holds up to retail and classic bliz servers
You can find 2.4.3 zips around and then just peep server websites for realmlists, ive just been playing offline solo servers with bots
Interesting... arent private servers pretty jank and prone to shutting down?
how well do the bots work?
Don't play this private server dog shit OP. If you are interested in endgame PvE focus i.e. Mythic + (infinitely repeatable dungeons that scale) or more engaging difficult raiding, or delves (new solo content), try out The War Within (current retail xpansion). Otherwise wait for MoP which releases next month.
only dogshit aspect ive run into is interacting with third worlders, just had an itch for wow and didnt feel like shelling out money to blizz
Slightly better than your average classic era player, so not very good but well enough to manage to clear raids with a little brute force
I had fun with classic.
Whatever version you decide to play: join a casual guild with nice people. Pugging is awful, period.
why are there so many retarded social maladaptive military vets in WoW guilds?
Anniversary is the only current version worth a fuck, but you already missed the boat.
missed the boat
for what? boring ass vanilla raiding?
still plenty of time for comfy questing and TBC on the horizon when endgame is at least briefly fun for everyone not playing warrior
TurtleWow has been up for years, is very well supported with a client that can be updated to be nearly equivalently good as the current official classic client. Turtle and Warmane are the two biggest private servers and both offer a far superior experience to Blizzard's official servers
For one, they actually ban bots and the whole server isn't just dads swiping credit cards like the official realms are
Actually sounds interesting... might have to give it a go I guess if there's no official alternative. MoP sounds ok, never played it.
Wrath is the best version of WoW but Turtle is also decent
MoP is stinking shit. Avoid it like the plague.
better than wrath
There is an official alternative, there's the anniversary servers. They're basically dead for levelling though while Turtle and Warmane are very much alive in levelling zones, so I still wouldn't pay money for official anniversary. The current people running Blizzard are also kind of fundamentally bad people and I'd prefer not to give them money
Terrible opinion. There's a reason MOP hemmoraged millions of subs while Wrath was the population peak of the game
All versions ran by Blizzard are pure trash because of the retail WoW community, filled with Western neoliberal trannies and sociopath influencers who minmax the fun out of everything while self-censoring on discord and being professionally offended at anyone who slows down their parses.
Sounds like a lot of buzzwords but it literally is what it is. I pity mfers who didn't play retail WoW between 2004-2010 and then private WoW servers between 2010-2018. Last time blizzard's WoW was good was the first two months of Classic launch in Aug 2019.
Elaborate
Wrath sucks donkey dicks. I don't care if subs were high because of how aggressively Blizz was advertising the game to normalfags at the time.
There's a reason classic fucking died as soon as TBC ended and everyone suddenly remembered how gay Wrath always was.
Enjoy doing naxx all over again and your faggot jousting shit.
It's a well-made expansion, one of the last with good production values. But the tonal shift from previous expansions was extreme and caused millions of people to quit. The expansion was basically a love letter to their Chinese playerbase and had little relevancy to the previous lore or world building. It was also the start of the 'disneyfying' of the game. Previously the game was influenced by heavy metal, violence and mature themes. MoP started the trend of dickless cartoony child-oriented storylines
Classic died when Cata came out you dumb piece of shit. At least get your facts right, classic was still jam packed with people right up until the Cata launch
This
They also sell all your data to third parties, that's how they afford the servers.
not playing warrior
dumbfuck
Bullshit lol.
classic died with Ulduar. It was bleeding subs before cata classic was even considered. Wrath aged like rancid milk.
They afford the servers from donations. There's no indication anyone's data is being sold. Who would even buy it?
It's a well-made expansion
Lol no
It doesn't stoop to lazily rehashing vanilla raids so in terms of effort that alone puts it several leagues above trash of the bitch king.
I played MOP Remix and it was much better than I remembered. I wouldn't play it at normal speed though and spend a year legitimately grinding that shit
get bent brownie
Just installed WoW for the first time. Never really played an MMO either.
I need help naming my guy
abracadaver
sorry what, you are playing tbc with bots? that's a thing? Like do they do open world stuff like quests or do you have to gear them?
Turtle and Warmane
What is the difference?
Didn't like the custom things in Turtle
Your dogshit expansion will always be dunked on, chang. Everyone who isn't a zoomer remembers Wrath fondly.
You can set them to quest or grind and stuff and to automatically learn every ability at the proper level even quest locked abilities, theyre rudimentary bots with pre-scripted speccs to put their talents in and scripted rotations for ST or MT. They dont adapt to situations without direct command so its just like playing with retarded people
Nobody remembers it fondly but wrathbabies who started playing then.
Get used to watching history repeat itself when anniversary wrath rolls around and it's once again a total ghost town because absolutely nobody wants to play that garbage.
and prone to shutting down?
depends on the server and the game.
some private servers like Turtle and some Ragnarok/FFXI ones have been up since Obama was president.
Just do your research and never play on a pserver that hasnt been up for at least 10 years already.
Warmane doesn't do vanilla, only expansions. The main servers are BC and Wrath, but everything runs on the 3.35a client. The servers are all highly populated, perhaps moreso than some official classic servers.
Play wow like a singleplayer RPG with intelligent bot party members, yes you can do raids with them as well, it comes with individual progression which means you get to experience vanilla (almost) the way it originally was, TBC (almost) the way it originally was, and finally WOTLK
you can do the OG vanilla 40 man raid too, you can do naxxramas
Anniversary Classic realms are the best right now, currently its still on Vanilla but will be progressing to TBC probably late this year or next year. Retail is fine too if you just want to raid and have fast gameplay and don't care about leveling much but it gets old fast also the current patch is ass.
gotta be honest with you chief. Playing WoW solo with bots sounds completely fucking gay and sad, I am 100% not goin to do this
enjoy playing with the rest of the troons on turtle then
tranilla
This is insanity
it's literally retarded as fuck lol
Considering how annoying it is to get together a properly geared 40 man raid to do vanilla naxx on a real realm (and not have participants drop group during the course of the raid), there is some logic to doing it this way instead
The absolute best version of WoW is whichever one has ret paladins being bad. Historically this is Vanilla, as ret paladins are the worse. In fact, they are a non existent entity (doesn't stop human male ret paladins from trying though), unfortunately. They should be donning the dress, assuming their roles as healer/support that exist to fluff the real classes ie Warrior chads, yet they shit up servers with their bullshit. They are, rightfully so, treated as pariahs and aren't allowed into the molten core, thank god.
TBC is worse than Vanilla, but it's still a good iteration of wow because ret paladins aren't great there either. Is it any wonder that from WotLK onward we saw a decline in subs? The quality of the game dropped off a fucking cliff, and we can tangentially observe that this is a direct result of ret paladins becoming more viable as a spec
who wouldnt wanna play with chicks? you gay? faggot
still better than modern MMO audience
YWNBAW
turtle mentioned
instantly summons trannies that defend it
lmao
every fucking time
troondle
raiding is gatekept by discord cliques
new content is mediocre at best
completely fucked class balance
I really don't get why Blizz has historically not understood what ret should be. It's either a glorified priest or overtuned warrior rather than the support they're supposed to be. Literally just make ret an auto attack, heal party with some extra bonuses. It's really not that hard.
None, it is time to grow up, time to let nostalgia flow and throw wowshit away.
raiding is gatekept by discord cliques
That's what got me to quit playing.
Warmane
reports 12k players online
at the same time, they put up a post to apologize for prolonged maintenance and servers being offline
Blizzard was already on the right track with Vanilla and to a lesser extent TBC. Blame the Paladin mains who endlessly pissed and moaned about being upstaged by Warrior in the tank and dps department whilst completely ignoring the insanely busted heal/support kit they already have
The servers are all highly populated, perhaps moreso than some official classic servers.
Even when down, they manage to keep over 13000 people online. Truly a zased server.
Turtle and Warmane
Turtle is cool for the vanilla+ content, but holy shit is it terrible trying to actually play with other people. For example, it took me about a month trying to worm my way into a raid group, which is ALL organized on Discord and is all run by the same small handful of spastics that all hate eachother. So, I finally got into a raid, Zul'Gurub. I shit you now, of all those 20 people. only 3 of us spoke English, and only one of us knew the raid, FUCKING ME. The other two, while technically speaking English, were really, really bad at it.
The raid lasted for over 3 hours and we only managed to get 2 bosses down before giving up.
Now, since I decided to give Warmane a shot as of a couple weeks ago, I'm running into a similar problem: NOBODY SPEAKS FUCKING ENGLISH
Private servers are only worth it if you just want to enjoy solo questing and shit.
I thought it was common knowledge they lie about their numbers. The waiting queue is fake too, it exists just to try to get retards to give them money.
And they sure as hell don't ban all their bots. I just put up 4 Damaged Necklaces on the AH cheap for some quick pocket change and they were nearly instantly bought, all three of them, and then nearly instantly put back up for average price.
10 HC raiding in MoP as a BRM tank is the absolute comfiest experience I've had in my 20 years of playing wow and I can't wait to do it again in a few months :)
Epoch soon
why are there so many retarded social maladaptive military vets in WoW guilds?
Never encountered any. Might be an NA thing.
schizo nonsense but gotta get it off my chest somewhere but i really love torchie :)
It amazes me how much SoD's quality coaligned with how good/bullshit Rets were in it.
You are not invited to my raids if you are any of the following:
ret paly
any druid other than resto
shadow priest
any rogue other than combat
That message was from May 26 you unbelievable moron
