The Great Debate

JRPGs VS WRPGs

JRPG_WRPG.png - 1994x551, 1.86M

I choose CRPG

fuppa buppa

JRPGs made by Westerners > WRPGs made by Japs > DRPGs> WRPGs > CRPGs > JRPGs

Dead genre.
Clicking sux.
Games are played with controllers.

Fippy, and might I say, Bippy.

Fappy Brappy

FF games have been dogshite for too long to be considered the face of JRPGs.

CRPG as in Chink RPG

I choose K-RPG

for me it's w-jrpg. The japs no longer monopolize the jrpg genre since we make better jrpg games than them

>JRPGS made by westerners

Undertale and Lisa?
*projectile vomits*

>WRPGs made by Japs

?
If that exists it sounds beyond kino. Don't you fucking dare say you were referring to fromslop with this.

he probably means Wizardry and the like

South Park and the Stick of Truth and Clarinet Obscene: Expedited 88

>>WRPGs made by Japs

FFXV

Classic WRPG > Classic JRPG > New JRPG > New WRPG

No one will remember Redditition 33 a year from now.

both games in OP's image are CRPGs

are you being stupid on purpose

it will be remembered the next 20 years. Cope

Both can be played on PCs. Are you suggesting that they aren't Computer Role Playing Games?

I don't want to sit through 20 hours of cutscenes

JRPG

I don't want to sit through 20 hours of dialogue trees

WRPG

Real time with pause is not fun at all

CRPG

Cheap ass genre where they just draw a zombie and have you press debuff/buff/attack for 20 hours

DRPG

does every battle fucking really need to take 2 hours

SRPG

SRPG

Fire Emblem is underrated kino
Shame what meleefags have done to him with dash dancing, wave dashing, ledge guarding and spamming.
He's actually a very tactile character that represents his game very well in a fighting game representation.
Playing him the way he is meant to be played is very esoteric.

I hate that metrosexual faggot. Fuck him for being half the reason melee in unplayable.

It's cause people ruin him with their faggotry by spamming off the ledge.
Roid is a little less cheap so I play him more but truth be told it's Fox and Falco who ruin melee by being so prevalent.
I had to sift through over an hour of foxes and falcos just to defeat Captain Falcon as Roid

Honestly I can fuck up Marth with any of my characters(Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Link, Young Link, Marth, Roy
He's just running underneath the platform like a bitch(like everyone else LOL!) so counter him by attacking before he attacks, don't run away, he'll just space you.
Gotta be faster....what am I saying, I transferred Sm4sh gameplay to Melee and still OWN

Wizardry, Demon's Souls.

yeah console role playing games

Feels good being able to like multiple things and not having to autistically pick a side

Feels good hating both sides.

I'm talking about the genres specifically. I haven't played Remake or Fallout 4.

ARPG slop

is watered down from every other fallout game

lol

Which RPG would be ideal for me?

RPG without magic

RPG without fantasy

RPG without fairies

Anti-Pokemon RPG

RPG without wizards

RPG set in a realistic world

Ultra-linear RPG

RPG where you never have to grade

RPG where it's impossible to get lost on the map

RPG where it's impossible to get stuck anywhere

jrpgs have always been better than wrpgs

I like the freedom of choice in good WRPGs. The issue I have with JRPGs is I have a hard time relating to some of the protagonists, especially when they're generic shonen characters. JRPGs also seem to be in a bad state right now where they can't innovate enough to have fun combat, but they refuse to master the "five niggas in a line" combat they were based on. It feels like an awkward teen phase atm for JRPGs. WRPGs tend to vary more widely in terms of stories and gameplay, but the issue is mainly the Western cultural rot that's infecting all of Western entertainment. Also, the general devolution of great studios doesn't help either. Too many companies are obsessed with AI (Another Indian) when it comes to creating things. It's led to terrible results and it doesn't help when the writing is made by someone who can't even relate to people in their real lives, let alone imagine how that would work in a fantasy setting.

As it stands, some indies and AA still put out some interesting projects, but the AAA space is basically dead for these types of games. Way too much rot and overblown budgets that play it incredibly safe while at the same time being disconnected from what the audience wants.

Secret third option: FRPGs.

Yakuza 7. If you can stomach the never ending cutscenes and talking to people then its pretty good

There's a problem:
I have a PlayStation 4

and I also play on emulators:

Flycast

Duckstation

PPSSPP

Do you have anything for me on Dreamcast, PSP, or PlayStation 1?

Nobody will talk about Lune and Sciel in 5 years while Tifa and Aerith will still be fondly remembered for decades.

Bruh, Lune = HOT FOREVER
