You can mash attacks, but most enemies won't be stun locked and can hit you while you're attacking. Dodging or is meant to be mashed either. Unless you're dodging forward you have no invincibility frames without using the perfect dodge mechanic.

Kind of, It's slower and more difficult at the beginning of the because you don't have access to the other mechanics, aoe attacks, and gear that can help you if you're struggling at the beginning of the game. But yeah, it's a game where you're better off learning how to utilize the core mechanics than brute forcing. The Boss Challenge mode that you unlock after finishing the demo allows you to play as Eve with most of her moves to mess around with.

you can cancel attacks, but the window is towards the end of the animation. Speed up gear sockets extend that window. For a good combo, try heavy light light heavy light heavy. Eve should do some kicks and extend into sword slashes. You should be able to cancel at any phase

Update: It gets better when you actually get to the starting area. It still doesn't hit 60 but rins just below it...until you fight enemies and the framerate drops to 30-40fps again. This shit is pretty disappointing since I was expecting a solid 60fps on a parry heavy game running in UE4, just like lies of p that ran exactly that on the deck.
I guess it's a skip for me.

The hair is really bad on PC. PS5 Pro does it better somehow. It's the same shit with FFXVI & Horizon. PC is missing the hair fuzz on Aloy, the doggo in final fantasy is missing his tressfx.

normal and hard mode are really well balanced, I think.
the story is fine though and you get more out of the game with a second playthrough, puzzle and story context wise. So if you want to get an ending and play again, yeah story mode is good. That being said, the learning curve for these bosses is really pleasant and half of them are reused as world bosses where they have extra moves and such.

you can spam light attacks and parry and cancel at any moment. When it comes to fierce attacks you have to commit though. But spamming light attack is good because you can use it to time the parries.

Later on you get overpowered abilities that are follow ups to to perfect parry or perfect dodge, so at the end parrying and dodging is more important than combos. And if you combine guns with double edge you can basically defeat any boss by just shooting even in hard mode. Straight up broken.
