Seems to me like the gameplay would just be you get an armored core style mission occasionally where you just face one enemy and that is it, and the rest of the game is just a poor imitation of persona.

It has none of the emotional or narrative depth of the original, as the movies suffered from Anno forcing Khara staff to throw their work out and start over several times since he had no idea what he wanted to make, resulting in the actual story having zero internal cohesion in order to serve the half assed meta commentary about Anno's masturbatory "fuck you I got mine" experience towards the series

I was playing Terra Invicta and thought it would be really cool if it could simulate Evangelion.
The game itself isn't a good match since it covers the whole solar system while Evangelion only goes up to orbit.
But the idea of managing the secret society aspect of the story would be interesting.

There's the n64 game that's basically a VN with a bunch of minigames for each particular angel
It wasn't very good gameplay wise but it was visually interesting and the music was funny

Then there's the PS2/PSP game with all the extra lore and proto-persona gameplay, it's pretty soulful if janky, and the combat isn't particularly interesting since despite having a ton of different customization options, the most effective strategy is to just continuously circle angels while kicking them from behind so they're unable to hit you
