Is the music in classic WoW actually good, or is it just aging millennial nostalgiaslop? I don't remember it winning any particular acclaim when it was contemporary.

I like it in Vanilla because it's more 1 minute or so short incidental music, it's much less in your face and feels like it adds to the atmosphere

Vanilla music worked because the way they had the music set up blended very well with the zone ambience noises which enhanced the immersion. It was very subtle at times.

The population of MMO players has changed radically since 2004. They aren't even close to the same people.

The amount of available information about MMOs is absolute now. You can know everything about every item and every inch of the map before you even play it. The exploration factor is gone unless you purposefully keep yourself ignorant and explore all by yourself. Then you may as well just get an Elder Scrolls game and skip the monthly fees.

No one wants to level. No one wants to form friendships. No one want to travel/explore. It's essentially just an ARPG with cities and big swaths of land you fly over sometimes.
