Now I'll just focus on DEVVAN for the rest of the day. I chilled a bit after the Dragon Quest Day Demo, but now it's time to continue. First, I'll redraw some Tiles and Battle Backgrounds because I rushed them quite a bit to make the DQ Day deadline I set for myself, then update some of the Music because I learned some more C700 trickery I want to try out, and then it's time to update the Overworld. The demo's overworld was only around 2000x2000 px, but it's being upgraded to 4096x4096 px, so it's similar in size to the SNES DQs.
Busy day ahead of me, can't wait to jump back in.

it's not bad, but it's slow going. it is the game i play on my commute to and from work, so there's lots of breaks in my gameplay when i transfer trains and such. everyone seems to say it has a much more somber tone compared to the rest of the games, but honestly i am not finding that at all. it seems kind of silly, kefka especially is a damn cartoon character (at least in the early parts. maybe this changes?).

I don't like Holly Gibney as a character. In the first 3 books, she was like an annoying Reddit moderator for r/Movies, and now she's less annoying, but less of a character. The original trilogy sucked ass, and the Outsider was amazing until she showed up. It was still pretty great, but no longer amazing. The cannibal story was also pretty whatever. The poetry storyline was absolutely retarded and it feels like he actually needs to consider plotting more. I think King has lost it.

I think Stephen King is the greatest idea guy out there currently alive, but I think his writing is dogshit, one of the few writers were the film adaptations are better than the source material. He should stick to pitching ideas, and letting competent screenwriters/playwrights execute the writing part of the job.

I have a lot of allergies, so a lot of atuff is off the table for me. I usually just go for stirfry. The place by me has a crispy pork dish i like and "holy basil with egg" which is just stirfry ground meat on top of rice with a fried egg on the side but they use holy basil in the dish. Pad kee mao (basil noodles/"drunken noodles") is also almost always a safe option for something delicious. Minced chicken or pork salad (laab) is usually good. Green or red curry is delicious, thai curry is my favourite type of curry.

I don't even know anymore bros. I still love video games, but I hate that every new video game demands every waking minute of your entire life just to finish one tutorial and move on to the tutorial part 2. I'm not saying I dislike tutorials. I like them. I think they are mostly necessary. But all these games coming out, the fucking intros are 5+ hours long, you're on rails the whole time, the game won't let you press three buttons before a tutorial prompt shows up and blocks all other input besides the one it's trying to teach you, and the game has so many bells and whistles that this process takes several irl days to complete if you moderate your gaming sessions realistically and have a job and any kind of responsibilities away from your gaming desk. And then there are the ones that don't. Like Elden Ring or Wukong. They throw you in, sure, but they also require hours spent on a single boss just to learn animations and learn precise timings for i-frames and parries. I beat Bloodborne and Code Vein, yes, but not the way the developers "intended." I didn't learn the movesets of the bosses. I learned the one thing I could parry reliably and otherwise kept my distance, avoiding attacks altogether instead of i-framing. Elden Ring doesn't let you do this. Wukong doesn't let you do this. I'm rambling. I just want video games to be fun, I want them to be games for entertainment, I want them to stop taking themselves so FUCKING seriously, I want them to stop fearing the turbo-elite gaymurz who hate anything accessible to people who take showers.

Good. Just won a handful of old Japanese PC98 keyboards off Yahoo Auctions for a yen each.
