Remember this passing fad called video games?

What's bideo banes?

we'll look back at primitive VR and AI the same way
unfortunate but true because both of those are fake and gay but so are most games these days so who even cares

I bet you must be feeling real stupid right now, Sharon

gets bought out by Hasbro

Retard executives who know nothing what they are talking about are the biggest problem. We could have so much better products and fun things if different types of people were in power.

Remember when butthurt Americans and boomers were treating Pokemon as "another fad that will pass away soon" during Pokemon Mania era? Now THAT aged poorly too, with Pokemon franchise still being the No1 most profitable franchise all over the world.

Seriously, why they hire so out of touch with the market executives for these companies? Most of them have rejected or even tried to boycott some of the most long-running profitable franchises. Believe it or not MLP was one of these franchises with executives at Hasbro rejecting it again and again because "It wouldn't sell".

We could have so much better products and fun things if different types of people were in power.

Satoru Iwata was from the rare exceptions of video games companies CEOs actually being familiar with video games since they had actual experience at making video games themselves and even kept helping developers when in trouble when he became a president.

I like how Executives constantly make wrong calls but keep making massive amounts of money.

people become bored with videogames after about a month

He speaks the eternal truth

Pokemon isn't as big as it was in the 90s, every kid had a binder full of pokemon cards on the playground at its height.

Ancient bait, no known translation exists

Then why is the Pokemon company making more money now?

Two years later...

November: Michael J. Moone (Mike Moone), previously VP and General Manager of Milton Bradley Co., joined Atari as president of the Consumer Division, replacing the departed Don Winn. (TVDigest 12/17/79p14)

Also funny that these are before the videogame crash, so yeah they were actually right. Videogames post crash are basically a different thing entirely, only sharing namesake.

The concept is there but the execution peaked years ago

Yeah. Lucky for us developers invented interactive movie games.

Bill Gates thought that internet wouldn't catch on.

How did horsechads btfo carcucks so thoroughly?

Crazy to think Nintendo was a toy company and if they had incompetent bosses they wouldn't be the leader in gaming today

Inflation? Bigger economy? More reach?
Something with 30% popularity in a population where 6 billion people are potential customers, will make more money than something with a mega popularity of 100% in a population of 1 billion potential customers.

When you see the utter garbage that was available in 77, before nintendo, you can understand their point. Saying tat after the NES release would be silly though

Online shopping isn't a threat

t. Sears executive

This is dumb cars arent biological while you have to constantly maintain them because specific chemical processes is what makes them work its nowhere as annoying as feeding some horse that could fuck up its leg and be rendered useless for the rest of time

every kid had a binder full of pokemon cards on the playground at its height.

Pretty sure Pokemon cards are more popular now than they were in the 90s.

kek where do you find these? Reminds me of what's going on with AI today, you can find articles exactly like this about it, except they are far more retarded because there have been decades of stories preparing us for AI. You would think people would understand the implications but nope.

Nintendo had incompetent bosses, at one point "a Nintendo" was becoming synonymous with a gaming machine and then they squandered it through greed and autism

Remember when leftist politics being forced in games was considered a fad?

Anon Babble likes AI now

can't blame a normal person for thinking that about mlp tho

Dobbin will take you through snow and mud

His argument rings through even today though

t. had to call tow truck to get me out of the mud
Wish I had Dobbin

They were correct. Live service and mobile slop are not worthy of being called videogames.

"VR" is strapping a monitor to your face.
"AI" is applying regression to large samples of text

Both gimmicks scam investors out of cash because of good marketing and branding.

at one point "a Nintendo" was becoming synonymous with a gaming machine and then they squandered it

to be honest they were legally required to squander that if they wanted to keep trademark protection on the word "nintendo" (via xerox logic)

It's not dumb. It's just not exhaustive. Likely deliberately. Animals are still used to drag things when it's convenient.

The point another anon raised about injury outweighs all those flaws that existed at the time. Restoring a vehicle back to 100% functionality is easy and possibly not even that expensive. Restoring a horse back to 100% functionality is still impossible.

well that one wasnt exactly wrong, there were several "bubbles" along the way

AI is such a sweeping general term that it could refer to eight dozen different things, because AI has been around for half a century now. I assume you mean automation/robots, in which case that shit's not taking off anytime soon because they cannot figure out how to get around the immense impractical power required to make it work on a large scale. AI generation of shit like images and audio is here to stay, shitty software algorithms and such, which quite frankly is bad enough on its own and is going to make life far worse for all of us. But Skynet type bullshit isn't happening in our lifetimes, if ever.

Videogames post crash are basically a different thing entirely

retard

AI means a computer/program that can do a variety of things that require human thought. It's simple as fuck.
The reason the definition is clouded from you is because you're mentally retarded and keep listening to idiots saying "that's not real AI" because they're assblasted about art.
Methods of AI have been around for half a century and it's made slow progress until recently when we've blasted off.

Robots are typically programmed to do one task meaning they aren't AI they're just machines.

You're correct and the other guy's a pedant.

doesn't know what "AI" means even in the academical sense

thinks the only criticism comes from drawfags

I will relish your suffering when your "gods" fail you, thirdie.

Here's a seething retard now.

its nowhere as annoying as feeding some horse

Just let your horse free range, and call it when you need him.

They are, Nintendo changed the game entirely. Hence why videogames as they were known in America pre
-crash resulted in a crash in a short time, and the era that arose after, well look where we are now. Really can't compare the state/design/philosophy/industry of videogames post crash to the pre crash era. I'll say it again, two entirely different things that pretty much share a name only. That's why one crashed and one is thrived. The proof of what I'm saying is literally just looking at reality.

We live in a time where anyone with the internet can talk to fairly high IQ AIs and they can tell us what AI is and people still don't know what it is.
