Name the game that got you like this

the absolutely sorry state dragon's dogma 2 was released in, + no performance fixes in years

Elden Ring

Ideka

I honestly can't remember last time I got seriously hyped for a game. I remember getting hyoed for Skyrim back in 2011, but I kinda liked what the game was back then despite playing the worst version out there.

Shenmue 3

Damn it.He beat me to it.

Metroid Other M

Red Dead Redemption 2

FF7 remake

SPBP

GTA 4

Probably Jedi Survivor. I'm really fond of fallen order, survivor felt like a nosedive in quality. Performance, writing, exploration - all downgrades from fallen order.

DD2 is the biggest
Also Elden Ring

DD2
Although I lost hope when they announced the classes, not at release.

Veilguard

Resident Evil Village

holy fuck to this day Jedi Survivor is my most hated game of all time for hyping up the end area, Tamril or Tanalor or whatever the fuck it was called, and LITERALLY had it used a final boss area and that's fucking it.
nothing to do in terms of side quests, nothing to explore, just get to the long-awaired destination and beat the final boss and the game is done.

diablo 4 with the lillith reveal trailer

GTA V

Sounds like an accurate description of every souls game ever.

Psycho Patrol R

hyper light drifter.

Spore.
Fucking Spore.

Kingdom Hearts 3

KH3

I feel like VTMB2 is going to be this. I was hyped on the initial reveal trailer and soon later seeing Brian Mitsoda speak at a press conference held b y Paradox. But now it's just to some outsourced studio who probably aren't making the same game that people wanted. Granted that there was high skepticism from Anon Babble of the game even when Hardsuit Labs were working on it.

Cyberpunk

Fallout 4.

How that game turned out worse than both New Vegas and Fallout 3 in terms of pacing and RPG elements is baffling. Got better after Diamond City but I've never felt such disappointment and regret in the first few hours of a game, never finished it, it's just not good. Maybe in VR with mods.

SC2 Legacy of the Void came out the same month, I still play that fucking game. What a save.

what the fuck did you expect?

Doom Eternal

it's literally a hidden Jedi temple, what the fuck do you mean.
I expect tons of stuff to do regarding learning about the former Jedi who were there, uncovering old stuff and shit, you know

Alan Wake 2. No Barry, no buy.

barrycutout.jpg - 500x300, 39.89K

what would be interesting about the former Jedi who were there? Cal would just lean down and sniff an old robe hearing "my name was Glup Shitto and i trained padawans here" what is interesting about it? Tanalor was just the plot mcguffin that existed to fuel the conflict between the characters

cal dont care

Mass Effect 3

halo infinite........ i know i shouldn't have had hope in 343 but....

are you faggots so out of thread ideas that you can only post Reddit threads and twitter posts?and the usual coom stuff?

tranny ring
bannerlord

it's been this way for years
at least it isn't as bad as Anon Babble has gotten

Batman Arkham Knight
I loved Asylum and City. I even thought Origins was okay fuck that plot twist however
So I pre-ordered Arkham Knight, on PC. Release date comes, within minutes of starting I get horrible stuttering issues and I'm looking for solutions online when Total AssCancer posts a video about how it's a problem with the PC port that can't be fixed.
Refunded the game like everybody else, still haven't played it. Haven't pre-ordered a game since.

Not me, but E3 always seemed to cause this, ridiculous seeing "They won E3 with this!!!" then a complete non-reaction when it finally releases years later, pic related for this phenomenon

cyberpunk
starfield
dd2

Silksong

This. Nothing else has the same gap between the hype and the reality. The cyberflop was legendary

Battletech
Cyberpunk 2077
Control

Homeworld 3 went massively off the rails just before launch. All the concept art and trailers were fine then suddenly huge ogre women.

Soul Hackers 2

when the fuck is this stupid piece of dog shit game coming to Steam?
I just want to play it already holy fuck

Death Stranding. I love the game, but what a huge waste in so many ways. You really had to be there, this game seemed so different when we were still anticipating it. I can't not respect the single minded autism of the vision, but fuck what a compound cluster blue ballsing of a game. The fact that the combat is intentionally gimped and lame to take focus off of combat, the story being the most extreme example of 'Is this an unpolished gem or just shit?', the strange alienation with the characters that makes you irritated to have to talk to them, the retarded reddit bad guys...I'd give my left nut to live in an alternate reality where we got...something else. But I like the gameplay.

Elden Ring. I fucking hate the fact that people will look at the entire series and compare it to Elden Ring when it's this huge betrayal and dilution of what made the series great. I couldn't fucking believe how aggressively mid the writing was, and the whole game just feels like super mario odyssey when you run around, it's the absolute best example of how freedom and open world can cheapen the feel of a game. The story is so by the numbers it's genuinely educational to pick apart

I could not be bothered after the first planet in the first game. Got to Dathomir, thought: cool, hot nightsisters, Kiss-band groupie girls that ride rancor.

Forgot that this is new-canon and not legends so no sex appeal and no old kino designs so we get 1 hag that looks like this and there's no interactivity. I got to dathomir, played 5 minutes and realized "holy shit its the first planet again, I'm not playing more of this dogshit combat" and uninstalled. First time in a while I took a game and said "yeah I'm done, I'm not even backlogging this," literally got me to start doing that with more games in my library. I had to watch a cutscene to see if there were even nightsisters in this game.

Empire at War - Forces of Corruption was the last good Star Wars video game narrative I enjoyed replaying some of these games. Almost 20 years. Fuck this gay earth.

312312132.png - 745x467, 522.22K

SMT V. No, Vengeance did not fix the game.

Diablo 3

at least the expansion managed to salvage things

For me it was Fallout 4. I was hardly playing games at the time, life was absolutely fucking awesome, and then it came out like a wet fart.

Epic partially funded the development so never, probably.

You're not missing much, the Batmobile and all the padding and buttons and the ageing combat system was really bad. People like that game for the graphics and the skimpy ladies, the game is really fucking boring.

Bioshock infinite

Evolve, anyone remember that?

GTA VI

Same, glad I refunded it

Console version is extremely snappy and plays great, after trying it on PC like 2-3 times and never getting to the end - I'll finally beat D2 (got as far as Diablo and died as a young lad, waited for the remaster essentially since the PC version was always ass to run without mods) and then play the Switch version of 3 with my brother or by myself. It works shockingly well on an analog stick.

The story is still bad. I got this shit for free with a wow sub and it still wasn't as good as playing diablo 2 when I loaned it from my older friend/babysitter.

How is the expansion compared to the base game? I know Loot 2.0 was a big part of that plan.

That game is so incredibly mediocre and by the numbers. Same weapons, same controls, same plot structure (go kill the evil bad guys that have their own structures or segments), here they are at the beginning of the game, look you can see them so you know they're the bad guys cuz they are evil and kill people or talk about it!!

Then proceed with the most boring fucking level design that feels entirely on rails when it comes to collecting shit you need.

Final Fantasy XVI

I'd rather forget.
Fuck I wanted something good out of that mess.

This post was made by a discord tranny btw

I was hyped for 8 years and then forgot about it after a couple of days. They should have had multiplayer sorted from launch date to retain the player base as well. Multiplayer sieges were based though and made it worth the buy

bannerlord.jpg - 554x554, 48.08K

dragons dogma 2
no more heroes 3
shenmue 3
darkest dungeon 2
street fighter 5
resident evil 3 remake

Shady Knight, the game was just really underwhelming.

Tomb Raider Underworld

metal gear survive but not for the reasons you think
it was a really fucking good experience but you assholes kept riding cuckjimas cock and killed any momentum this game had. The basebuilding while defending against waves of zombies was really exiting and the class system albeit rudimentary and unbalanced interesting enough in a way that could have been refined further. You ruined that, i will never treat Anon Babbleniggers as humans again hence why i rarely visit this shithole nowdays

pic related for me

I feel like VTMB2 is going to be this.

nah, any goodwill towards that game is dead and buried, even the investors don't have any hope whatsoever

Mount and Blade Bannerlord

FF Versus XIII / FFXV

Dragon Age 2

Fallout 4

Mass Effect Andromeda

Cyberpunk 2077

KCD2

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2

Many more I can't remember right now

Same, I didn't get very far in that one before abandoning it. Before that, WoW Cataclysm killed the small amount of interest I had left for that game.

Nah, seeing that astroturfed slop die on impact was hysterical, and the director getting fired after DMCniggers were the most obnoxious babies on all of Anon Babble is the cherry on top.

Doom TDA

FF16 looked shit from the very first trailer let's be real.

tales of xillia 2, fallout new vegas, elden ring, cyberpunk, rdr2, dragons dogma 2

This. ER was such dogshit.

Let's be real, the focus on weapon switching of eternal was enough of a tell that the next game was going to suck.

How is the expansion compared to the base game?

very different while also fairly similar. it was basically a complete do-over.

Agreed discord sister how is your dilation going?

fuck this idiot game.

Unironically, Skyrim. I spent over 300 hours on old Oblivion with its expansions + mods. I was so hyped for Skyrim but not even 30 hours in, I was wondering when is this shit going to end? I still completed the base game and all the additional content.

Fuck that game, i bought it for ps5 and still runs at 30fps, looks awesome but i cant play it at that low framerate

dragon's dogma 2
Resident Evil Village
Devil may cry 5
Monster hunter wilds

the map design in multiplayer is so shit even mordhau with its inferior maps compared to chiv 2 and chiv 1 still mog bannerlord's

"O-only Discordtroons can hate muh based Godsuno!"

Your favorite director is a hack, cry about it.

At least the music was cool, in TDA i can barely remember hearing any music

Bioshock Infinite
MGS5

qrd?

I hate that you are right, it kinda just meshes together.
This is a bigger disappointment than I previously thought.

all of them
i think i have adhd

tempest rising
the campaign is not fun or makes sense and that tells me everything i need to know about the rest of the game
got like 3 missions in and uninstalled it.

also frostpunk 2
and oblivion remastered

slopposter

dogshit opinions

WOW WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THIS?!

The demo was great, little did we know they frontloaded it so much, man what a disappointment

i liked it

MGS5 and Eden Ring. Two times when Anon Babble was unequivocally proven correct in it's distaste for open world games. Went from landmark series in the stealth and action RPG genres to generic Ubislop

dd2

Sister you need to dilate this isn't healthy

Doom 2016

/thread

Dragons Dogma 2. I wish I could forget about it.

POE 2/10

I bet you think every anti-DD2 post on the board, let alone just this thread, is a big mean Discord raid, don't you? I guess it's easier than acknowledging that Shitsuno was always a hack.

Sacred III

Hag

Sure, if you're a fucking pedophile.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
Mass Effect: Andromeda

2016 was a rough year for me…

fell for it again award

Diablo 2 Resurrected

Dying Light 2
Darktide

Stellar Blade

Does it still count as “falling for it again” if I didn’t actually buy any of those games.
I just saw the gameplay on release and my hype died.

Or in the case of Mass Effect Andromeda I called that game was gonna be a steaming turd probably a year before it released.

Was this really a reaction the reveal of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess?

Guilty Gear Strive

literally any game you get hyped for.
I'd rather hear people talk about when the hype actually lived up to the release.
I've used up all my goodwill in life already.

Dying Light 2, i will never not be livid over it

My condolences.

Dragons Dogma 2
Avowed
Nioh
Civ 6
Elder Scrolls Online
Guild Wars 2
I could probably think of a dozen more..

Yoshi's Story

Destiny. The original concept art deserved so much better.

FF7 Remake

Monster Hunter Wilds

Dark Souls 2

I will see you in Edge of Fate

even the investors don't have any hope whatsoever

their fault for funding incompetent studios

no man's sky. I went in to work the next day and my boss was just as hyped about it but the stuff I was seeing before release got me to not get it, he did and next time I saw him you could tell his disappointment was immeasurable and his day was ruined

Ok but what about games that got you like this?

doom 2016
rdr2
gow4
re3 remake
death stranding

i mean, yes, but they usually pretend otherwise to not tank sales further and at least recoup a small part of the investment.

honestly, the best part about this game at this point is this guy doing the presentation.
no wonder the game doesn't have a vision and they keep missing the deadlines

Monster Hunter World
Tekken 8
Guilty Gear Strive
Melty Blood Type Lumina
Company of Heroes 3
Total War Warhammer 3

shant

Ratatan demo
Everhood 2
TEVI
AI Limit
Dolls Nest

STALKER 2, I remember when I saw the trailer back in 2017, fuck this gay earth

Bit of a simple one aren't you

Anon Babbleeddit?

veddit.png - 1215x166, 158.94K

Trails through Daybreak with its woke bullshit
Imagine finally being happy that you're done with Rean and the Cold Steel series only to get the equivalent of a Trails Netflix Special

Psycho Patrol R, I didn't even realize it had come out.

Recently?

Expedition 33 cause either the trailers did not do a good job conveying what the game actually was or I just wasn’t paying attention.

Hundred Line Last Defence Academy cause I normally don’t like Dangonrampa slop, but that game was actually fun.

I just wasn’t paying attention

I think it leans more this, there were plenty of hype threads about it since it was one of the few bright spots amongst all the dark clouds that were announced around the same time as it

Anon... a billion manga, manhua, manwha, animations, and games have copied/referenced this image.
Why is it only when Mihoyo does it that you seethe?

Starfield, I even brought a top end GPU expecting to run piles of poorly optimised mods, but the game was shit and even if I had wanted to run those mods despite the game being shit nobody was interested in making mods for such a shit game.

COTW

Brawl
I watched picrel dozens of times and checked the Dojo every morning before school. I was 10 when I played it and even I knew it was a step down from Melee.

when the game is just as good as the trailer

SF6

Nightreign

manhua, manwha

don't know the difference

This. The absolute butchering of Spore made me lose all faith in the game industry and was the sole reason why I ended up posting on Anon Babble too.

it was starfield for me

manhua is chinese, manwha is korean

Man I would have loved to explore more of the kiln of the first game in an epilogue to dark souls.

It fits the top but does it fit the bottom when it was clear it was gonna be shit well before release.
Unless you were one of those idiots who ignored the red flags out of spite towards those trying to warn them.

Serious Sam 4

SeriousSam4.jpg - 1920x1080, 399.9K

Final fantasy XIII
I was so hype after the first trailer, then it turned into, that...

Star Ocean 4, with the caveat that I had to wait until I could play the game. 3 was my favorite game. People said 4 played well, it was just cringeworthy. I was excited because that's what I liked about 3, just to finally get my hands on 4 with the PS3 release and it felt like ass.
