i have compulsively used Anon Babble since september 2021. it has all been to chase the high of the threads for deltarune chapter 2, which was my first exposure to the site. nothing in the time since has lived up to them.

I feel like ICE-E's Pizza will be the Going into Video Games chapter, where we see the Ice-Palace after going to an Arcade area in ICE-E's P'E'ZZA.
My more extreme theory is that ICE-E taught Noelle Snowgrave. That snowstorm where Dess went missing was blocked out of Noelle's memory, as we see her do all throughout the weird route, and Ice-E using Snowgrave is what killed Dess.
That's why Noelle tries to insist she doesn't know Snowgrave, she's blocking out the traumatic memory of that event. It's possible ICE-E isn't even a darkner, just an Ice-based monster that gained Snowgrave from the Dark World. It's possible he somehow used Snowgrave outside of the Dark World, OR Kris and Noelle went into a dark world in the past.
How do people even find shit like snowgrave? The crazy backtracking and all that seem like you'd need to just wander around forever. And know that people know such a route exists I bet if there's anything like it in the future it'll be even harder to find.

I naturally like to backtrack to check for dialogue and during my replay of deltarune i saw the initial snowgrave backtracking "wrong way" dialogue without even wanting to do snowgrave. Getting that dialogue but having nothing stop you going further, along with the sound cue and overworld affect of using iceshock in that first virovirokun fight, tells you that something's up
Really, all you'd need would be to figure out that Noelle's freeze attack defeating an enemy does something abnormal, and doing that to an entire fight's worth leaves a popsicle mob behind
From there, if you've played Undertale, the rest is obvious

There's going to be a fake-out where the fun gang thinks Pizzapants was responsible and he goes full Bitches and Whores complete with a dark fountain, but he'll give crucial info that reveals the true culprit was someone who asked him to lend the costume for some reason on that fateful day. Someone who knew all four kids and their parents pretty well. Someone whose name Gaster notices if you're trying to use it for a vessel, despite them seemingly not having a major role in the story or even a character portrait.

If you die Gaster tells you you have reached "An End" and if you accept that ending, the world is enveloped in darkness
The game "Ends" with an unbeatable final boss, who will kill you every time you fight them, sending you back to your last save. You can do something more important than this, but it won't end the game. Only dying will, all that changes is what you do before you die, which is more important than your death itself.
Your actions may not be able to save yourself, we all die, the angel's heaven always occurs, but that's not what matters. The ending will just be you leaving this reality. Do what you can before that happens.

Toby specifically creates failsafe dialog in case of glitches where an item that is expected to be there or flag that is expected to be marked is not.
This makes it so that people can continue to play the game regardless of if a glitch happens.
This might be the way Gaster intended to circumvent "only one ending". Where if there world is meant to have a single ending, Snowgrave existing at all means everything is pointless. There is no happiness for Noelle, Berdley dies in some other fashion, Kris never breaks free.
Unless the player smells the pain. Reaching into that dimension to pull out the necessary outcome, leaving behind the pain and suffering.
I just hope that is the case. It's far-fetched nonsense, coping with the potential that this hurt her somehow. What is more terrifying still is considering the same thing: that this is indeed intentional, and that somehow it is worse than going through Snowgrave.

ICE-E, if he is a darkner, is the most real any darkner could be, he has the most influence on reality any darkner could have.
I don't think toby would make ICE-E so important and focus so much on the IDEA of ICE-E being real just so he could do a twist where pizzapants might've been a murderer but wasn't actually. ICE-E is here to explore some concept or theme about fiction, maybe its the idea of how something not real can become so pervasive it ends up affecting reality enough to make someone dissapear, maybe its the idea of how ICE-E is so prelevant he cannot be escaped, you have to acknowledge him, unlike how the world refuses to acknowledge Dess & Gaster. ICE-E isn't here arbitrarily, there has to be a purpose, and even if I can't exactly pinpoint that purpose, it's something important to the game's analysis of fiction, that I'm certain of.

ICE-E could also be real through making other things NOT real. Gaster was cut from Undertale's world to streamline character roles, there are a limited number of character roles, so Gaster was split into Gerson, Sans, Alphys. He had to be removed so these others could fully occupy their roles.
ICE-E could've removed Dess because reality didn't have room for him. In order to enter the Light World, ICE-E had to trap Dess in the Depths. Had to make room. Had to fill Dess's role of scaring Noelle.

(preface: I kind of wanted and still would prefer to wait till Deltarune's done to play it. On top of that, I'm pretty swamped as is. So far I've done a good job of mostly dodging/blurring my sight and memory to Deltarune stuff so I don't have much of it in mind. But...)
Do you feel as if the hype this time is larger than for chapter 2? Will seeing Deltarune stuff be even more unavoidable?
Do you feel like there is reason to believe (aside from being two chapters) that these chapters will be even better than what came before? How are your expectations? I know I'm asking for a subjective opinion, most importantly with new long awaited stuff around the corner, but try to step away from the moment and answer this one with a distanced cool head (idk, give me your opinion as a fan but not exacerbated by this being 3 days before the new release, if that makes sense).
How does a chapter compare to UT in size? Is it feasible to play chapters 1 and 2 (at a non-rushed, decently curious and exploring pace) in 2-3 days? Don't really have the time to go non-stop aside from basic sleep/eating but could make it close enough.

Yes, easily. Chapter 1 is perfect for one sitting, 3 hours-ish. Chapter 2 is one long sitting or 2 reasonable ones, maybe 4-5 hours. 3 days is honestly the perfect amount of time.

Each chapter so far has been very satisfying despite the short length. The music alone makes you feel like you just finished a perfect movie when the credits roll. Less satisfying that undertale's true pacifist, but not as far off as you'd expect.
What would you say is lost the most in how Deltarune is releasing?
As long as you replay the old chapters somewhat close to when new ones drop, basically nothing. It allows for a bigger scale for the project, and as long as the quality stays consistent, itll have been worth the wait. The later chapters dont even have to be better, if they're on par this game is better than UT.
Finally, would you say there are any particularly positive points to releasing/experiencing it in this fashion?
The same way you get invested in a tv show over years more than a movie, theres time to tell smaller, self contained stories within the big one. More time between payoffs and for your feelings towards the characters to grow. Also, the formula may feel tedious to play all it onces, since it seems to be cyclical.
Well, you missed out but you also dodged one hell of a bullet. I recommend reading Problem Sleuth at least, it's not that long and is consistently good, and you'd find some similar themes to Deltarune.
If you're bored in between this release and Chapter 5, I'd check it out. You have to download the fan collection because the website's fucked but its well worth the read. Cascade is as satisfying as the emotional highs of Deltarune, maybe not quite Undertale
