This is ultimately what makes Kamoshida's palace feel the best out of all of them (imho). You had time to develop a reason to hate this guy, you saw the effects of his actions and how deep the corruption within Shujin went, and you were throughly invested in making him eat shit.

Plus, it doesn't help that the burger dungeon is boring as fuck, Kaneshiro basically has zero screentime, and none of the dungeons past the first really "feel" like you're making progress as you proceed. It's just increasing amounts of hallways, and visual eye candy can be rare at times due to said hallways.

In Kamoshida's palace? You start in the dungeons, slowly struggle and find yourself in the main hallway (after nearly dying there the first time, it feels like you REALLY made progress now that you're freely walking around a place which meant instant death before), and then have a giant tower-climbing route where you scale that mountain like a real fucking thief of legend.

What does Kaneshiro's palace have? A retarded moment in the elevator scene where Makoto goes, "Uhm... guys... that thing... is it a le lock?!?!?!" So many things peaked in Kamoshida's palace, be it game balance, the visual storytelling (just how MUCH shit in Kamoshida's palace revolves around highschooler ass and his athletic career), or even presentation, it just peaks really early despite the ending being hype as fuck to me.

Madarame is a bit boring, but Yusuke makes up for it. Never got the hate for the Kaneshiro arc. That palace is fun as fuck and has two of the best songs in the game. I don't like Futaba's palace from a gameplay standpoint, but the game itself really picks up the pace at that point and then never stops. Basically I don't agree with the take that P5 falls off after Kamoshida. Yes, the first arc is an insane hook with a great villain, but the game only gets better once you reach the midgame. I genuinely think it's just a case of people quitting early.
