I feel like E3 shilling is the epitome of nostalgiafagging. There’s nothing markedly different about SGF that E3 wasn’t already doing before it died. I could only understand this perspective if you yourself were a game dev that actually went to these things to network. All these shows are about le hype new Fromsoft trailer while seeing ads for Chipotle.

I actually don’t expect much from this SGF but I actually temper my expectations with Geoff events because the man can’t be a miracle maker every year. Sometimes these shows will be padded out by corpo slop and indie games and that’s just reality.

My pie in the sky hopes are

Soul Calibur 7 (this is definitely not happening)
New Fromsoft thing (like 5% chance since Night Reign is still fresh)

People blame the ability to have your own recorded videos like Nintendos Direct or COVID or other reasons for E3s demise.

The real reason is that E3 flourished when game development was relatively fast and there were games worth announcing or showing every year. Now every game takes 8+ years to develop so there just is nothing to show or announce. They fill the space with political bullshit and indie garbage. And even when there are big announcements, the games are all terrible.

I know not everyone is into GTA or care about 6 or whatever, but its the only thing that feels like a big game thats in the works. In the 00s you'd have 10-20 things like that every year
