The original version is 5 gigabytes, while the sloipmake is fucking 120 GB for some reason. Also the original has male and female, remake has A and B.
So original IS a lot better, even if quests and gameplay remain unchanged.

Unreal Engine kept stuttering and crashing with d3d hung error for me. it also had lots of pop in and looked weird. the original must run so much better since its a nearly 20 year old game no?

i've got this mod ready to go for my next playthrough. removes level scaling and reworks the loot placement, while trying to keep the game feeling vanilla. it won't be like the original experience though, it's expressly designed to change and improve it

ya mine is sort of a light overhaul. it doesn't change quests or anything to do with the story or world (outside of hand-placed loot in difficult locations/encounters), it mostly just removes level scaling and changes player and NPC stats to make you feel more and more powerful the more you level. also, it removes quest markers in favor of additional info/directions in the quest log + removes map markers from undiscovered locations, all so it plays a bit more like morrowind. i recommend playing it vanilla (with bug fixes and community patches etc) first, then this mod is a good all-in-one download on a second playthrough to fix and alleviate some of the annoying aspects of the original

The most important mod that fixed the broken level up was called realistic leveling back in the day, im sure theres many more to now. Combat is boring like skyrim but unlike Skyrim you can make it fun with deadly reflex which adds a bit of a rps system and crit kills for range as well as dismemberment

The remaster is ruined by forced Lumen RT killing the framerate and temporal anti-aliasing causing tons of ghosting. Typical UE5 problems.

They also butchered the art style, and the dinky cities consisting of 5 houses look really out of place with super HD photoreal graphics.

I just hate the fucking load times. I'm on a gen 4 nvme ssd but every time you go through dark brotherhood chamber it feels extra long. it takes a solid 5-7 seconds of black screen over what was instantaneous as in less than 1 second in the original.

But it is still the Creation Engine. Unreal is just being used to render graphics. Everything else is the ORIGINAL Oblivion from 2006 ported to Creation Engine, and with some minor mechanics tweaks. The same physics, the same jank, the same Oblivion you know and love.
