FF13 gets endlessly shit on for being a hallway sim

FF13 gets endlessly shit on for being a hallway sim

FF10 doesn't when it's literally the same shit

Explain this you hypocrites

FF10 did literally everything else better

Nice bait

This, and it still gets shit on for the crappy maps.

The Hallways aren't as bad and it's better in every other way. Also in hindsight, after so much open world slop I don't even hate 10 or 13 for the hallways anymore. I still hate 13 for many other reasons but the hallways are a non factor now.

ff13 combat sucks fucking ass and the characters are utterly unlikeable. The story is also utter shit.
10 does the following correctly : story, characters, combat, side content, summons.
13 does the following correct :
Does that explain it?

FFX hallways had lore and soul. FFXIII hallways lacked these things.

They can't. FF 13 was simply attacked in a moment of co-ordinated Western Chauvinism at a time when the West had severely declined + journos were also seething about Western industry being overshadowed by Japan. Western audience's insecurity over their own lives assisted the journos and now we are here, with a completely dead Western industry and a continually coping western audience.

FFX was hard, and I mean hard carried by the setting, so it can get away with a lot more. Cocoon is genuinely the worst shit they've ever made and the game only starts picking up once you reach Gran Pulse.

you can talk to people like a RPG in 10. It's not just your party running from the security guards of cocoon. it's also broken up with party moments and things going on in the world other than that.

As someone who unironically loves FF XIII I can assuredly tell you people don't shot on FF X because it's infinitely better.

Final Fantasy fans are mentally ill delusional freaks and I don't trust anything they say.

t. Final Fantasy fan

most final fantasy "fans" are

i really liked that one game I played 12 years ago and think about it a few times a year

kind of fans. the autistic fans are a tiny minority

Most people acknowledge that 10 was the start of pretty much every bad trend in FF. But it excels in other areas, unlike 13 so it's still a good game.

One of the main themes of X is the pilgrimage, which inherently involves walking along lots of (linear) roads. Once you actually get to the destinations (e.g. the temples and cities) there tends to be a more open area to run around in. There are also some relatively open outdoor areas such as the thunder plains, desert, and calm lands.

I know you just want to have an FFX appreciation thread, but you didn't have to start it with bait in the OP. It's classless. Delete this thread and make one with the "STOP RIGHT THERE GOERS" OP instead please.

XIII didnt have swimming and underwater combat

It’s simple you fucking retard, FF13 had ZERO

that’s one less than one, that’s the big ole NADA towns. It also had a nigger character with a nigger Afro and he didn’t even have a business suit.

For these reasons alone FFX is better

Story of X is done in such a way that it distracts from the fact it's a hallway simulator. The party is more likeable and interacts with everyone along the way, so you can see the different customs of the regions. Conversely, the cast of XIII are all unlikeable shits, hate each other, and are fugitives actively trying to avoid talking to the locals and so just rush through. Knowledge of the areas they pass through are restricted to log entries and other than differing visuals aren't given any chance to be set apart from one another.

FF10 also got shit for the hallways.

X only got shit for the lack of an overworld map and free flight on the airship.

FF10 disguises it better most of the time with nature trails or the highway at the start. 13 has you in these weird abstract worlds that don't make sense for why this is the way that it is so the hallway comes off as very gamey and lazy.

also hallways.

FFX paces out its experience in a much better manner. There are actual towns, pitstops, and environmental variety in any given location. XIII by comparison is mostly samey looking places that go on for way too long and with barely anything to interact with.

Spira is literally a giant line when you look at it. It's like the One Piece world.

Hallway sim was the least of XIII's problems.

They're all linear. None of them let you do things out of order or go to late game dungeons in the early game. Both X and the older games have side activities and areas that you can go to.

no argument

this
also most people didn’t play XIII

I shit on it regularly for being shockingly linear.
I also shit on the awful convoluted writing, and the extremely unbalanced battle system that forces you to use specific party members, and consequently making the ability to choose members completely pointless.
Also the weapon management system is a fucking nightmare and makes no sense.

Explain this

They played X when they were younger and it blew their tiny timmy socks off.
That's all.

the only good story in the franchise besides 7

awful convoluted writing

1/10 bait

FF10 was way more anticipated. People complained it was a departure from the PS1 games, but it was a hell of a lot more like them than FF13 was.

GO RIGHT THERE, STOPPERS!

Because I spent 200 hours in the calm lands fightan monsters loving how far I can push the team, going around oversoul farming.
I spent 2 hours in that one big zone in ff13 and hated every second of it.
Its just the presentation.
Also I have no idea what the crytlizlaiiliass shit was going on in ff13 but I know in FFX tick god bad and "old" 35 year old man was cool samurai dude who kills things, also blitzball was kino shut the fuck up. 13 had nothing.

another conversation with himself

X's story was better, the combat was simpler to manage, the sphere grid was far simpler than people like to make it out to be, and its character designs didn't make me want to die

fuck the crystallarium from the bottom of my fftactics-supremacist heart

I dont get it

X's hallways you could backtrack and revisit older zones. Most of XIII is one and done locations. X feels a lot more like a world even if it's a linear straight path one.

Blitzball.
