what the FUCK went so impossibly right? Even schizos and shitposters lack ammo to counter this

ex33.png - 1920x920, 1.82M

"Impossible" isn't French

use AI generated songs (stealing)

rubes like OP are baffled

Technically true but all the songs sound VERY samey.
I dont remember 90% of the songs except Lumiere, Clea boss theme and some other out there

Tell me about Alicia! Why does she wear the mask?

Most people don't remember any song from any game. You remember the songs from FF and Chrono Trigger because you played as a child and it's engraved in your brain.
Being an adult is like being dead already.

They had to make up for the DEI ugliness and parryslop gameplay somehow. They did try hard.

In a way, I get it. The game overuses motifs for the songs so they sound very similar, but it doesn't means it doesn't have bangers. The siréne fight was a spectacle carried by the OST

I got trolled when I did that beach thing and got a fucking monoco swimsuit

This is what happens when you get a competent composer and give him carte blanche, in general creative people tend to make way more stuff than required when left alone and passionate for a project, usually over half of it is binned but this time they found a use for most tracks. Making music for a giant faceless company and dealing with retards trying to micromanage you is a very different experience from making music being part of a small team where everybody knows eachother and can easily communicate and share information or give feedback.

Tell me more about the family dog.

party member dlc

They live and have names, one is called Monoco the 3rd

He's already in the party.

NANI

Keep playing the game and you will meet the dogs :)

works cited: trust me bro

You could think of something to criticize without just lying.

esdel.png - 699x695, 395.49K

Imagine encountering a real life Alicia and slowly making her fall in love with you only to break her heart so she locks herself in a painting forever.

that fucking ending

I just got it and holy shit

Which one?

Verso. I'm watching the Maelle ending now.

If it went right they'd give your third world village more ammo than the OST and totally mature Twilight tier story about a dysfunctional family.

forced soul

My beautiful wife-daughter-soulmate doesn't need that ugly mask

248e942.jpg - 1920x1080, 276.46K

Worse, I'd say it's fake soul

but but all the songs

You mean painted soul

i like that chrono trigger time of bells song or whatever its called

The Lumiere leit motif is now playing in your head manually.

Man the doomers are REALLY pissed people actually like something for once, huh?

act1 ending

Oh for fucks sake.

stalker.jpg - 1242x1426, 174.98K

It's a saying, go google "Impossible n'est pas Français".

I need someone who is better at reading to figure out some things for me regarding Expedition 33's ending

Why did Verso help Maelle defeat Renoir in the final battle if he wanted to die all along? Wouldn't he help Renoir instead? Also after it is revealed that Verso absolutely could have saved Gustave, why didn't he? Gustave wanted to kill the Paintress too. Verso says he wouldn't want to explain the true origin of the Paintress but he doesn't even do that after he lets Gustave die anyway.

I think it's terrible, I would have ironically preferred the standard "trauma victim in a mental hospital with a big imagination escaping their harsh reality" to what we got. Awful ubislop modern day assassins/templar animus plotline out of nowhere. Was genuinely hoping we'd have a classic heartfelt dark fantasy adventure with whimsical repreives where a sensitive young man like Gustav saves the world at first. The rest of the game outside of that plot device was 9/10 though

I think if you're willing to accept that the story is more personal than it starts out with then it's very very strong still. I'm still not exactly sure how to feel about the final choice or who was 'right' in the end. That fucking shot of Lune staring at Verso and then just sitting down in utter defeat was so fucking strong.

God.

Also after it is revealed that Verso absolutely could have saved Gustave, why didn't he?

He literally explains why.

his explanation doesn't make enough sense to me

If somehow they realized that killing the paintress was going to kill everyone Verso thought that if Gustave was alive Maelle would more likely refuse than if Gustave was dead.

Why did Verso help Maelle defeat Renoir in the final battle if he wanted to die all along? Wouldn't he help Renoir instead?

I think that Verso himself wasn't 100% sure what he wanted until the very end.

There's a reason why they're the best boys.

It's more like Maelle's hatred for Renoir was useful to him and that's it. He's kind of an asshole.

I think Verso wanted the agency of doing it himself.

but they literally don't figure that out until after they kill the Paintress...

But he could not know if they would find out or not before hand.

I honestly groaned sometime in act 2 when I figured out they were doing the "this is actually a small scale story about family set in front of an epic backdrop" yet again but I was willing to give it a chance since they handled act I so well, but I still really dislike where they took the narrative by the end

It's a risk, and if she ever gets her memories back (which she did), she'd know what it would do. It's possible that he knew that Alicia would get them back too when the Paintress is gone. It's a very, very rational choice to make for him to let Gustave die.

It's not actually small scale at all, it's practically almost infinite scale.

main character that they put a little bit of effort to give a background and make it likeable dies after first act

fuck off baguette

alicia is weak to fire

that was kinda mean

For me it was refreshing to see themes like that, rather than having the big bad be yet another manifestation of humanity's despair or nihilist demiurge.

Verso is a massive egotistical cunt who is only sometimes temporary cured of it only to jump back to it if one of his own goals gets directly threatened by the events that are unfolding.

Remember that when Siren made the people important to each party member appear to seduce them, Verso saw absolutely no one and it's not because he was battle-focused, even Monoco, the battle-hungry dog who didn't get charmed when entering the dungeon, saw Noco

Verso main goal is to kill himself, if a threat arises against that goal, he'll do anything to erase it while throwing excuses that he isn't doing it for himself but to save whoever is convenient at the time. The original did it with Alicia to kill himself while making it look like a sacrifice, the painted one did it with Julie, Maelle and the others.

Setting and lore wise, yea I guess, but I'm sick of the many worlds stuff and the core narrative ends up all being a mundane metaphor for the grief fallout of a family tragedy. The simple fantasy adventure with a beautiful coat of paint was what pulled me in, I thought we had millenial writers who were actually going to write something straight up fantasy without a trauma allegory

All classical music sounds the same

This is the level of intelligence of haters of this game. Pathetic

I can understand not being able to push past that, yeah. I wasn't a huge fan at the time of it. I think it works more if you do a lot of act 3 content and realize how tiny and small the world really is though and how it's very clearly just a childhood retreat.

??????? how does gustave being alive affect any of this

Game looks cool but I hate the french

No one hates the French more than me and the game is still fucking sick.

meaningless mishmash

classical

The ending only makes sense if you can manage to delude yourself into thinking Verso, the guy you play for mostly the entire game, is actually the main villain. Otherwise shit like reviving noco mere moments before you delete him and everyone he knows doesn't make a lick of sense

Based I am also allowed to express vague hate towards arbitrary white subraces.

Orchestral doesn't automatically mean variety, Eldin Ring's soundtrack is an absolute forgettable snooze. Do you remember a single track from RE2 Remake's "classical" music? No, because it was dogshit samey stuff compared to the masterful OG tracks. Not everyone is Nobuo Uematsu.

Okay but this game had a great OST unlike ER / Souls as a whole desu.

Yea I was pissed off for about 48 hours and rationalized that they were just keeping the stakes high, but deep down i knew I was being taken on another "subversive narration" ride after they had already baited me

Just got to act 3 and this game is fucking breaking me

He wanted to ingratiate himself directly with the party and in that way influence Maelle/Alicia, replacing Gustave as a figure to rely on was the easiest way. Having him alive would have complicated things.

Instead of making a new thread, why didn't they explain how Renoir is The Curator while also somehow being trapped under the Monolith? I felt like that was something that needed an explanation but they never address it

file.png - 1181x1088, 1.3M

Is this game about some sort of post-apocalyptic French colony saving the world? The French? I just, I can't.

The OST release has a whopping 154 tracks and it's still not complete. The composer truly worked his ass off.
One of the most grating points of RPGs is the reuse of battle themes. Some add different themes per act of the game (Tales), others let you even build your playlist of battle themes (Atelier). But the majority of RPGs only have a few normal and boss themes, which can get annoying.
This game blows the shit out of those typical RPGs with its varied themes. My fave so far is Flying Waters.

other than clea, the whole dessendre family are the main villains. they have the power of gods, but the temperament of a child

"When one falls, we continue."

It's kind of his avatar in the painting, similar to how the Paintress giant is Alines. He exerts influence through it but is evidently still mostly trapped under the monolith fighting against Alines influence.

Similar to how Aline can do paintress shit even though she's also stuck fighting him.

It is literally none of those things.

That's actually very lore accurate to most pagan religions

I would put the blame about 99% on Aline. She created the family and the people in the painting, utterly irresponsible.

The way Monoco says "one last expedition" got me hyped

He or she has has had all their life to make them.

I mean, Clea pulls all kind of disturbing shit. She'd just say it's pragmatism because the Canvas isn't real anyway according to her viewpoint, but the shit she pulled on Painted Clea and Simon was personal.

That was my assumption as well, but I don't like how you have to assume all of that.

Who painted the party Verso?

I wish we would get more AA games like this, it's literally perfect.

Alise

The game does a lot of "show, don't tell", but I can't think of any real plot inconsistencies either.

It is post-apocalyptic because guns are scarce I'm looking at gameplay right now. It is french shit because the gameplay audio is in English and plenty of enemies are speaking French.

Why are you lying and you had better start arguing with me, OR ELSE

generic pseudo-classical slop, sounds like every other track in the game

Aline of course. She painted the fake family, Renoir painted the Axons, real Verso painted the Gestrals/Grandis/Esquie as a child, and real Clea made Painter Clea into an automated Nevron factory.

The fact that the silly volleyball minigame becomes accessible as soon as you get the swim ability (after THAT event in the story) can't be a coincidence.
RPG World already referenced that kind of shit with FF7 with its strip where the characters had to play a fucking butterfly minigame, right after a character in the comic got Aeris'd.
Apparently Guillaume said in an interview that he added the minigame because many of his fave RPGs also have dumb random minigames. Bless that frog.

It's not post apocalyptic, it's not a French colony, and it's not even really a world. Now fuck off, you retarded nigger.

Now this, this is just sad. In my day shitposters tried to at least engage, but this is just rote spamming.

They did such a good job with Clea. Made a character with little screen time but I just want more of her

Why not? There is a lot of assuming going on and that's just how things work in reality. I prefer it to endless infodumps and words-of-god.

some of the music like stone wave cliffs and old lumiere is very boring and forgettable. like yea this game has a couple standout tracks, but people who are glazing the entire soundtrack have no taste. there's a lot of filler in it.

also weird that some of the smaller zones change up background music one or two times but then an endless slog area has the same music the whole way through

The only thing really AA about it is some minor animation impolish, >98% at least of AAA studios should feel embarassed but they don't because the majority of the staff at those big companies now are just failed credentialed management who don't give a shit about the artistic value of the product

Too bad almost all of the songs were forgettable. I'm a vidya song enjoyer and I can't remember a single song worth adding to my playlist.

It is post-Fracture thoughever

Wasn't this guy the real Renoir and the one you fight throughout the game just a painted version?

will you kill yourself when it wins GOTY?

8 hours of music

Oh well some songs are not that great

Jesus this is what shitposters are resorting to

Yeah.

What's the name of the song that plays when you (as Mealle in her dream sequence) meet Alicia for the first time? It's in the cutscene in the camp after you leave the Gestral village iirc

post achievements and playtime

Absolute. Shit. Taste.
Best turn-based row RPG OST since FF IX.

Kino.

it literally is

have to grind for like 3-4 hours for the level 99 achievement

They could’ve done this better

Persona 5 came out after FFIX last I checked, get on your knees and apologize plebeian

This looks like a throwaway enemy in Lies of P. You guys are just shoveling this into your mouth huh?

saka4.jpg - 1920x1080, 131.97K

Persona 5 is so fucking ass it's not even funny. Juvenile trash.

P5's comes nowhere close to FF IX's. It isn't even as good as P3's.

first of all, I didn't say anything was outright bad, at worst it's pleasant but forgettable background noise. secondly, it's more like 6h out of those 8h are filler. there are two or three dozen good tracks

ok and now?
you people are acting like I called the game and its music shit, I merely said that there's a lot of unremarkable filler in the music, which is true. the combat tracks are mostly great, but the general tone music is often okay at best.

generic and extremely simple 80's retro synthwave

Really? I'd understand if you went with some technically impressive progressive rock banger, but this? Really?

No because I don't actually give a shit if it makes money off retards that don't know any better. The company is not your father.

Console pleb

Lmao grow up

consoletard

Opinion discarded. Most likely also an am*rican

Caring about something being techinally impressive is like caring about graphics, which you seem to do. Opinion discarded.

shills a game literally designed for consoles

They are both completely fucking terrible. Way more depressing and dismal than an ending to a decently written general appeal story (even tragic one) gets to be, and well into territory of deliberately demoralizing misery porn at the same level as those humiliation fetish cuck porn games.
There is no excuse for those endings.

You will never be a gamer

Not caring means you no longer have any right to call something "boring".

Enjoy your

Nomods

Ooof

That's not it, it sounds a lot like the original Alicia song but there's a 2nd vocalist harmonized with the 1st one.

nice moving of goalposts, enjoy Gustave's blue tinted beard in Flying Waters, PC cuck

Yeah because I'm a purebred human instead of whatever animal you crawled out of. I'm not a gamer or a gaming fan or a gaming stan or whatever marketing label you identify as. I play games.

It's not that bad, you're hysteric.

lmao, can't get enough of all these sheltered shitters being exposed to traditional French misery porn and triggered by it.
Bet they'd even be traumatized by Dumas' work.

This was the post that made me do it.

I hope you faggots aren't wrong.

thank you for being the first person man enough to post achievements and playtime out of the 30 faggots i've asked. unfortunately you are not only a pathetic consolecuck, but you have dogshit taste and are clearly retarded for spending 10 hours per day playing a game that's supposedly shit

Lmao grow up

Buying a PC because you "take gaming that seriously" is one of the most juvenile and childish things you can do. You are calling him a man-baby and you are sitting in front of a $3000 gaming beast.

all done by some literalywho

what the FUCK went so impossibly right

first time with AI music?

based. i say this with nothing but love: hurry up and fuck off so you don't get spoiled.

You won't regret it

There are a few variants that aren't on the OST.

playing a game that's supposedly shit

according to who?

a game that's supposedly shit

i get that having 80 iq makes it hard but reread the post you replied to.

OMG is that a le hecking pupperino in my wholesome video game?! Upvoted!

Based. You are a real gamer and a wonderful person sir.

i apologize for my retardation, i hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me

I finally did it Anon Babbleros, I beat simon full parry no one shot cheese until P3, I just nuked him with Maelle first striking since he was at 15%. I reached P3 multiple times but it's just too difficult to try to learn this phase... I thought P3 would be the same as P2, but with the remaining members only

itsdone.jpg - 2560x1440, 500.15K

T-there's phase 3?

It's pretty good. Not sure about goty but it's definitely above the average. The OST is definitely full of SOVL.

Grats anon I saw a few of his moves in P2 and decided I would never let him attack

skipped phase 3

You didn't beat the game.
Neither did I

Congrats anon. I tapped out after like 3 hours of barely making it to his third phase and deleted him with Maelle.

Went into ng+ after beating Simon with my party at around level 90. Does it get any harder or will I just be steam rolling everything?

the city at the start is clearly Paris

it's also an island

the region that Paris is in is called Île-de-France (island of France)

348576.jpg - 856x1200, 82.8K

Oh yeah.... Don't read next if you don't want to know but at 30% or lower, he wipes your team, so you basically fight with the remaining members. In P3, he has ANOTHER spectral sword, both reds. So every combos with his spectral sword has another hit. On paper it's not that bad, it's just another consecutive parry. But it just goes so fast, and you've your memory muscles kicking from P2 & fucking you a lot. Keep in mind, I learnt to parry EVERY MOVES of P1 P2 and could parry all of them.
Took me 3 hours.

I wish I could learn it. It's just so difficult to get back there. My wrists kind of started to hurt, lmao.

Now check out who designed the Eiffel tower.

it's called the Eiffel tower for a reason

no fucking way

Finally an honest person

Game went from GOTY timeless to mid will be forgotten in 3 years slop after this scene. What a fall from grace.

skipped phase 3

didn't beat it
But don't feel bad, you could probably count in 1 hand the people that beat him in a honest way
He is, quite literally, the hardest jrpg boss ever created

The devs said on a french stream that it will really allow them to develop the universe of Clair Obscur

AAAAAAAAAAH

Fair point - ive been keeping my consumption of it spoiler free and so far so good.

I shall fuck off to take it in myself. This actually does look/sound/feel pretty kino - and I'm relatively jaded as they come.

sheltered

Another pseud fart huffer not understanding the purpose of art and entertainment and standards applied to it.
Yes, it's cool that you're a very tough guy and consume misery porn all day every day for fun, however, generally it's not a type of content that a mentally healthy and well-adjusted person wants to process, even if one is capable of handling it.

i dont think anyone who dislikes the game will ever critique the soundtrack because there's no argument that it's very impressive.

i'm also a jaded piece of shit and this game still blew me away, first western game i've played in quite a few years now. it was very well worth it, i hope you have a good time anon

Oh yeah and this is the result screen.

Yeah, I know I didn't totally beat him, I agree. I'd try again in the future if they add some quick retry or just skipping P1 completely because it's kind of annoying even though it's mostly his unpowered moves.

score.jpg - 2560x1440, 664.15K

Sequels? Nice

inland region of the country

hmm... lets call it an island

are french people fucking stupid?

One of the endings is decisively cheerful by French standards

as a trad gamer i also believe that it is a kino game. it is very good.

it's generic choir and orchestra tootling. if you want good music listen to ff13.

This but for act 2 fake "epilogue".

How is it misery porn?
In the good ending the family moves on and accepts loss and grief.

The vast majority of French media offerings are misery porn anon. I bet the only thing you know is a quirky exception like Amélie Poulain or something. Which is still weirdly dark.

How much time did it take you to do that? He seemed almost impossible without cheesy ohk builds to me.

So what is the game's setting and story? Give me a qrd

How about instead of constantly being told to accept bullshit and grief we accept things that don't fucking suck? Putting on a brave face while constantly being kicked down is just humiliating at a certain point

Yeah, a family reconciling and grieving together? Remarkably tame. That's why the Maelle ending feels the more intended one, it's proper French existential psychological horror.

Because then you're just coping in your fantasy wonderland.

Life is hard for everyone, no matter what you do some things will always be difficult, like the deaths of those close to you. It's an inevitability that you can't shy away from.

daddy issues. that's it. that's the entire plot.

just bought the game

now found out that it's just like one of those JRPGs that has bullshit bosses designed to be cheesed through or else the game is impossible

oh fucking great, I can't wait already

7653547568.png - 680x510, 317.29K

its an optional endgame superboss

Not-Paris gets dropped into a fantasy world with a monolith beyond the sea in the distance that has a number starting at 100, counting down every year with a giantess painting the new number, and everyone of that age and above dies, dissolving into flowers.
Game starts 67 years later with Expedition 33 (of mostly 32-year olds) leaving to try and kill the Paintress again. Which has always failed.

Nah, that's just one super secret dude

Giant magic woman kills everyone under a certain age every year, lowering the number each time. The city sends out expeditions each year to try and stop her, the current number is 33. And everyone is French.

That's better I guess.

Took me 3 hours. It's mostly learning the moves, the cues, keeping focus.

In term of difficulty for his moves, it's like that
Lightspeed >>= long combo / sword of light >>>>>= powerful combo / Short combo

Lightspeed is tricky you eventually learn about it, the slight and long delays, the cue to dodge the last big attack is focusing on the pulse on the ground. To be honest, I was moving my head like a retard to remember and time the quick attacks lmao. Long combo is just knowing the rhythm: 1-2 3-4 5678quickly delay 9-10. Sword of light looked tough, but it's really easy once you know it. One feint, two or three hits, one feint again and waiting for the audio cue for the beam. The last two attacks are easy.

Interedasting. Do they succede? What's the reson for this gerontocide?

Wonder how Francois feels about Clea not giving a shit about anyone In the painted canvas including him.

If you're interested, play it and leave Anon Babble. This is one of the few games where I know spoilers would have bothered me heavily. The twist and the buildup to it is that good.

It sure is interesting, why don't you find out instead of wiki-ing your way through it?

It's AI generated.

I'm not buying your game, lmao. Gameplay doesn't interest me and I'm sure not gonna play a video game for the fucking story

You could just pirate it.
But I know right

Playing games

So fucking lame and gay.

It's an enemies delay their attack animations on purpose episode

I thought I left that shit behind when I dropped dark souls.

playing games that have gameplay that doesn't interest me

Yes, it is indeed lame and gay and a waste of time

Listen for the sound, works better for me than animations.

well then why are you here

For me it's the one that do fake hits on purpose that don't actually hit you like that gestral arena champion just so you fumble dodging/parrying that and miss the timing on the actual hit

Well, congratulations, pal. You are truly one of the very few masters of that boss fight now.

gustav guards the dome

fucking SOVL. now i'm even more mad about his death.

Because Iike it here

doing things I like - not lame and gay

doing things I don't like - lame and gay

Hope that clears that up

Lorien stated he was basically a game OST nerd growing up, playing hours of them before sleeping each night. The dude had a golden opportunity and did not let it slip his golden fingers and pour his soul into it. It was not just a soul crushing day job at ubislop where every choice must be validated by an international committee of people not on the same time zone as you.

Basic.

Keep thinking about Gustave's death and how it really all went downhill from there.

They could've achieved the same results by letting him kill himself at the beginning having maybe verso watch from the shadows and let him do it. Be there to "help" Maelle when she finds him and grieves. I COULD have been invested in a fake reality/world if my boy Gustave was still there. Seeing him interact with Monoco and pushing Alicia to go live a real life would be interesting. Instead his entire character spot is filled by a immortal 100+ year old fuck boy gary sue. Its really boring from then on out. Only thing I hope this game does is make studios do more active turn base combat.

I lost against Maelle.

Most people don't remember any song from any game

And most people are retarded, your post means jack shit.

Who didn't

Maelle_Wins.png

What level should I be to fight some of the big bosses on the world map? I just fought the chromatic jar and eventually beat his ass, but then I made my way over to Sprong out in the ocean and he fucking annihilated me so fast that I'm not sure I have the patience to learn that one too when I'm level 26.

I took a break from Chromatic Jar last night because I was tired, woke up, and beat him on the first try so that felt nice.

if its health bar moves when you hit you can kill it, if it doesn't move (like Sprong) do it in act 3

He even carries a stick with him everywhere.

What games are more likely to get GOTY? Death Stranding 2? Ghost of Yōtei?

I want more FRPGs, can frenchies do it again ?

Gary sue? Verso is completely fucking broken in every sense of the word. He's the most miserable character in the game, he has no allies and the only lasting emotional ties he has are to his make-believe dogs that love him unconditionally.

I have no idea why people like this.

Death stranding or mario kart.

How does that autism treat you?

a racing game? goty?

what is there not to like?

Either way, AI could have generated better music than this flavorless generic slop.

hit act 3, kinda overwhelmed with what to do now that the map has fully opened up to me

Interesting

Clea is a good sister when she's not being a cold bitch

Why does this game keep making me cry?

i'm kinda confused how everyones party members seem to be around level 85. i've finished the story with my highest member being like level 52. did you guys still grind after finishing the story and explore the rest of the continent?

Frozen Hearts and the Reacher

Final Boss

mop up other dungeons

Simon

Unironically Go for the finish, you can continue doing the map stuff afterwards and you won't be overleveled for the main story. It's not fun to come back at max level and one shot the final boss. Then again, I guess I could have just disabled that 9,999 damage unlimiter..

Act 3 is riddled with superbosses, did you defeat any of those?

There's a real chance journalist jack off Mario Kart Horizon and pretend it's revolutionary. It is not what I would bet on. I would bet on kojima as of today without knowing any reception about unreleased games.

not a fair comparison
elden ring ost is garbage samey
exp33 is decent but many are too filler

schizos and shitposters

only women and redditors talk like this. Aka E33's target audience

not him but how much game is there left once you go back to lumiere?
im in the same position, im exploring but there's so much to do

Yeah, my rule of thumb is

did I hit it for 9999 and the health bar barely moved? I will come back later

Act 3 opens up a lot of possibilities

Sprong is an exception though, because his picto makes the rest of the game vastly easier

Act 3. Did you skip....literally all of the content?

Currently in Act 3 doing side missions, what are the best weapons for Verso and Monoco? I don't want to invest in the wrong ones.

Lumière is less than an hour.

Yeah, it's called a leitmotiv.
That's what makes the whole thing feel coherent and give it personality.

I never understood why she called her parents by their names.

Verso

Chevalam, until you get the final superboss's weapon.

Monoco

Joyaro

It's the last story stage

No, my point isnt about leitmotiv. In fact i would say when the music actually uses leitmotiv the music stands on
but sometimes the music sounds like...just annother classical music that gets drown on the rest
And yet the characters follow his every word even AFTER he used Maelle as bait in front of the manor. The reason they had to write Gustave out was because NO older brother figure is going to sit here and follow some mystery man who has ADMITTED he knows more than he's telling them. Even someone as meticulous as Lune should've put her foot (sniffa) down a LONG time ago and made him explain everything. Gustave was your lens into this world. You felt what he felt, saw what he saw, experienced and learned what he goes through. He connects all the characters together in a nice little bow of balance and humanity. Without him you dont really FEEL what the party is going through anymore you're just kind of watching it. (Dont even get me started on the uselessness of the prologue and Sophie) Verso is nothing. Hes a blank canvas as far as we're concerned. His conversations with Monoco are "lol remember that onnnne time we did that onnnne thing haha so COOL". Like okay? Loved Monoco and Esquie but a lot of their relationship with Verso particularly was "remember when we did X?"
6.5/10 but almost entirely for gameplay and music

Because she's prim and proper and responsible and takes care of things and carries the world on her shoulders.

Verso saw absolutely no one

based

Spite and establishing her own independence. That is generally the reason when children refer to their parents with their first names.

yeah, i did explore every path in all the main maps and killed all the bosses along the way.

it fucking seems like it lmao. i genuinely didn't know (and didn't try) i could explore the continent. i was heading straight from main quest to main quest. i thought i was tweaking when the credits rolled and i still havent encountered simon everyone was talking about.

oopsie. guess i have to go back now. i can still do post-ending content right?

Maelle does so much damage bros

Maelle.png - 408x187, 121.83K

Bro just use ctrl+s next time jesus christ I can't read any of that.

It's even better if you didn't do the rest before. You'd have just oneshot everything in the story.
You have tons of stuff to do.

Is this the point where I should slow down on luck or should I just keep going and see what happens? I'm also using Roulette on everyone.

I think you missed half the content in the game.
DId you do the relationship quests? Sprong? Clea? The Endless Tower? Renoir's Drafts?

same actually
i was invested with gustave and his simple revenge on the paintress for sophie (and everyone)
when the whole family shit started to come out i was like "ugh"

Do you even know what a banger is? Christ.

game balance seems pretty nonexistant. game is probably balanced around elderly people who can't build for shit outside of the harder optional content but it's so easy to break the game. here's hoping ||act 3|| had some superbosses that actually require a halfway decent setup

Probably a sign that she lost respect for them when she had to take over the duties of her parents

Early-mid game:
Vitality 20
Agility 47
Luck 35
Everything after in Might

Endgame: everything in the 3 stats that scale with your weapon, and use pictos/luminas to get critrate to 100%.

I like what happened with him because it IS sad that he's gone, that's kind of the point. He's a great guy, he would've been nice to have for sure.

french male names are so fucking gay man

Why can't we get more games like these?

I call my parents by their names because it feels more natural desu. Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and every other family member that used to visit always called my parents by their names so it came naturally to me to also call them by their names.
I guess my parents could have asked me to call them Mum and Dad when I was a kid but I doubt they are bothered with me calling them by their names

oh whoops I used the discord spoiler tags instead of ctrl+S

You'd have just oneshot everything in the story

i was wondering about all the anons talking about literally one-shotting the final boss while i was out there slowly grinding away the health bar of that fucking boss right before you encounter renoir for the last time after returning to lumiere. my longest fight literally took almost 29 minutes. it was kinda fun tho.

You have tons of stuff to do

that's great. i was just starting to experience the post-game void.

DId you do the relationship quests? Sprong? Clea? The Endless Tower? Renoir's Drafts?

i have literally no idea what any of that is. i'm so going back and grind the shit outta the optional content rn.

infinite wealth came out not long before this and is very similar mechanically, though Expedition 33 is more involved defensively.

I just never cared about Maelle anywhere near as much as I did Gustave. Goes double for Verso. A more compelling story would be someone we've played as for the entire game coming to terms that he doesnt exist and convincing his sister/god to go back to reality and destroy his existence and everything he's ever known.

THATS the game I wanted to play.

100% incorrect lmao
it could have been sourced from royalty free music and still worked just as well

here are some random video games that even have better music than this shit:
weird battle music:
youtube.com/watch?v=KpDSQVDHPTo
epic battle music:
youtube.com/watch?v=jnN_UoyYLHs

Geee-yaum
Benwah
Grubber

we have FFX at home

Yeah but 33 is a brand new IP made by a bunch of nobodies and it's still good. Why can't we get more new things? Too financially risky?

I don't really think that would make much of a difference, you could still say that Maelle would supercede him and he'd essentially be a cheerleader. You need Verso to act as a counterpoint for the painted world as otherwise the balance would be entirely on Maelle's ending side, and I don't think Gustave could do the same given that he's not related to the family.

If you think Titus is anywhere NEAR the depth that Gustave was at you're sorely mistaken. Those two cannot be compared at all.

Same, stuffs feeling pretty easy, idk. I did everything the first go, I’m just going to blitz it to see the second ending first hand and experience the story while knowing the plot to pick up on the little things.

You CANNOT be straight if your name is fucking Bastien
no wonder the city is dying out when 90% of men are gay

No wonder women love this game.

my longest fight literally took almost 29 minutes. it was kinda fun tho.

My man. I've a friend who didn't know, did the side stuff and missed on the big combat, the combat talk, the music. You unknowingly made the right choice.
If you don't know where to go first, you can start at the camp or follow anon's advice just above.

yeah big AAA new IPs are risky because they typically cost one bazillion dollars and take half a decade or more to make, so companies play it safe to recoup their costs because if they don't have anything smaller in the pipeline they're kind of screwed for the next half a decade or more

Whats exactly the depth of gustav? hes a nice guy and he loses sophie
thats all there is to it

grim

And his dad worked in a vidya store. Lorien built years and years of soul in his mind and let it all out with a fucking HUGE score, to boot. For a first-time professional soundtrack, it's enormous.

Bleeps and bloops

And

Insanely generic orchestral track

Damn dude, at least post some real "weird" battle music like Drakengard or Evergrace.

Those are rookie numbers still. She's able to hit for billions with proper setup.

I think I will put the game down now

I read that in Ahnold's voice.

More Clea???

He wanted kids with Sophie but she didnt want to bring children into a doomed world. He was bad with finishing sentences. He lost is arm while building the Lumina Convertor (that turned out to be completely pointless). He had 3 apprentices that he thought as his own. He was an over protective older brother. He liked throwing rocks. :)

I could go on but honestly the prologue shows more depth in Gustave as a character than the entirety of FFX does for Titus.

Too financially risky?

Yes. Videogames are currently at the same point where popular music was in the late 80's and MTV. Suits start focusing on music that's easy to produce and package, that's similar to music that's already popular (because science has shown that music that is familiar is generally more easily liked than stuff that challenges convention).

And then radio stations and record companies no longer promote 7 minute+ prog rock tracks except the classics they own royalties to.

The Lumina converter is the shit that is powering up your party, anon.

yep, and it's only going to get worse as games get bigger and bigger. the death of A and AA games really fucked us variety wise, now it's either indie games or AAA stuff. some companies are still A/AA stuff, like Square Enix with the Bravely games, Octopath and HD-2D stuff in general but they're the exception when compared to most other companies

I mean technically she supercedes verso at the end if you lose to her. So really shes just a kid who wants to live in her own little fantasy world regardless of who tells her not to. Which is completely understandable. She was gonna push back to anyone trying to get her to leave, she HAD to be forced. So why not the dude we've been running with since day 1?

I don't even have a completely optimised build for her or maxed out weapons. I just found a boss to test her third special ability. I am pretty sure 16 million damage would 1 shot every boss I fought so far

i didn't apply defenseless

shit
whatever

out of nowhere

Pay attention next time

yeah basically verso loses all will and now everyone is just a doll for the little princess to play with

I really don't think Gustave could do it. He loves her, yes, but he also loves Lumiere and his apprentices. If you were to ask him if he'd like to see Sophie again he probably couldn't resist. He also can't relate to the familiar drama in the same way as Verso can, who feels personally responsible.

So why not the dude we've been running with since day 1?

Charlie Cox is expensive

But why? It doesnt even need to be there? The world doesnt have to play by any rules at all. They never expanded on the Lumina Convertor other than...it exists. No special explanation on how the tech works or how it interacts with Chroma. It could simply just not be there, just like Sophie.

other than clea, the whole dessendre family are the main villains

Clea is the meanest bitch of the bunch

you can extrapolate the story to be also about AI becoming sentient and wanting to protect his own videogame/VR world

honestly pretty impressive that any expedition made it as far as they did without being able to level up, or make use of the Curator to upgrade their shit.

This is the real answer

Somebody told me it was Adult Paper Mario. Is it true? Are the QTE really that annoying?

behind every good game is a small team

they could level up, what they didnt have was lumina
so basically before it was just classic accessory RPG

That required roulette, didn't it

Is this a joke? That track sounds gay as fuck.

i listened to the whole thing. the vocals are ok but they could have paid for higher quality, and what makes this worse is that the vocal dynamic range is too high compared to the rest of the instruments. besides that, it isn't a bad song, it's an adequately complex/interesting composition, but it's not something i would show off

Mostly every expedition had some sort of ace-in-the-hole that was the latest hope for them. For them it was the lumina converter, which they could use to power up rapidly from defeated foes. It's mostly there to just cement the initial hope for the expedition and as a reason for them to keep going rather than just giving up. That's why Luna is so adamant about it with Gustave at the start.

Sadly, only expedition 60 really knew the real good shit.

Actually noticed Verso rescuing Maelle at the dark shore in my second run.

Can't believe I missed that the first time. It's going to be interesting replaying the story with the full context of what's going on now.

Yes.
Also autism wouldn't let me not redo it with defenseless.

But why? It doesnt even need to be there?

it's absence for every other expedition makes it easier to swallow the idea that like one shitzillion people got rocked before you. the battlefield is so full of corpses that it'd be impossible to believe that they could've made it that far with that many people if they had been getting beefed up along the way.

naw the upgrades to lumina was done via the curator and later Maelle, it's a painter power, it's why it's the COLOUR of Lumina

that's what i mean, even those bleeps and bloops are better and more memoriable

What a pointless analysis, the music ingame is mixed to the cinematic or the fight and changes accordingly. No reasonable person looks over video game soundtracks without considering how they are used in the game.

I wasn’t terribly choked up playing it, although I felt its effects fairly strong. I tried to explain it to someone else and my fucking voice wouldn’t stop breaking from all the sorrow inherent in the endings welling up. Embarrassing. I’m an old man with a mustache and a scowl.

Yeah, I thought so.
Max I was able to get was around 160m without roulette

that's true but the point is that the music doesn't stand on its own, and it's only adequate in the context within the video game. therefore, it's adequate music and not worth listening to outside of the game.

yeah nobody just has okabe/uematsu level skills right out of the gate, madlad's the definition of preparation meeting opportunity

You don’t need to worry too much about your weapons. You will find high level versions of old weapons, and I had close to 150 of the final upgrade crystals (up to lvl 32) unused by the time I had completed everything.

I don't find that to be a rational argument considering the fact that it is still tied to the video game and it's meant to be heard while playing one. What's the point of thinking about video game soundtracks while divorcing them from the games? That's inane, makes no sense. I might as well include a banger of a track in a game, have it not play in the game and then expect people to praise the soundtrack of the game.

Oh god, I accidentally one shot Alicia fight by putting on too much solo shit.

Anyone know when this track was used in the game? I found the record for it but don't actually remember hearing it outside of camp
youtu.be/a9P0Qgi4wAM?si=bd_eWyTHug5FLUjf

What's the battle theme for when you're fighting Maelle before the expedition heads out?

how would you know, you haven't even played the game

At the bearch landing I didn't care at all, it was just the beginning and there was no way the game would give you a full expedition from the get-go. I expected (some) to have survived, but scattered. Gustave's almost-persona moment was interesting but also expected - most expeditions got heavily rekt'd early on.
But goddamnit Maelle, all you had to do was to jump with Gustave on Esquie's back immediately instead of staying up there fffffffffff
Now I'm at the forgotten battlefield and hoo boy, that's a lot more corpses around.

Welcome to European videogame making. Jagged Alliance 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 are the same way and also have 8+ hours of soundtrack.
youtube.com/watch?v=iU_3t4qkP8U

i know this isn't meant to be more than a cool off song, it's a simple song that works in the context

It's cool seeing how their tools changed. They had cars, the giant wheel even submarines. Some teams dedicated themselves to making grappling and climbing stuff. And their organization too. Like the council of old people just designing individuals from their birth to belong in an expedition

Not everyone had that chance though. RIP to the expedition who listened to Esquie
And when you consider what they have now... Nothing. A boat, a dozen people, and yeah the lumina converter which turned out their ace tool. Good luck doing anything without Lumina... Well technically without Maelle or any outsider (painter), it'd be probably impossible too

just like Sophie

Anon...

Doesn't that fact kind of show that Verso isn't actually as against living a new life in the painting as he lets on? I kind of think both endings are kind of about Maelle and Verso learning to accept their situation being not what they initially wanted but still something they have the potential to find happiness in.

Most RPGs go with heavy fanfares for victory themes. This subtle system instead seems to be echoing Chrono Cross, where the normal battle victory is a subtle, calm version of Lucca's theme.
Some of the world design heavily reminds me of the Dead Sea in CC too, it has the same kind of ethereal 'frozen in time' look.

Nah I'm adamant on this one.

Roulette it fun to see the wild swings in the numbers. I used it on everyone the whole game.

I love the radio stations in Cyberpunk 2077.

an adequate jazz composition that progresses from somewhat smooth to more complex/high tempo. i'd rather listen to real jazz however because i can tell the composer doesn't make typically make jazz and is just using the basics, which is understandable

I only use it on my multi hitters, Lune and Verso.

Yeah, the council is funny because you realize that at one point they got fucking gommaged.

That expedition that went to establish a separate colony away from Lumiere and the council.

Heh, all that for nothing.

Old men.. Not running the world.

But yes. They never had a real chance, even the team that made it to the paintress (60) realized too late that only by defeating Renoir could they survive, and they failed. Every expedition was doomed to have less personnel and resources, it's amazing that they even bother at the point of the game and no wonder that only those about to die go, because might as well.

I refuse to take it off, it's genuinely amazing and it would feel pointless to take it off considering all the multihit moves this game has.

poor detected

What a great theme to start off in the first dungeon of the game.

the writer is also apparently some literal who. this game is a bona fide passion project

it's a nice/pretty song, but it's nothing to get excited over. the vocals are actually descent in this one, maybe because she's singing in her first language? idk i can't quite put my finger on why vocals from other pieces in the score don't impress m, but i'm sure i'll figure it out soon if i keep listening to this shit

Now this is an interesting reading on his character.

Does roulette apply to each individual hit of a skill, or is it global for that turn?
E.g. on a 5 hit skill, can it go 50%-200%-200%-50%-200%?

Maelle is supposedly 16

apparently has 9 years before dying

death clock is on 33

33-9=24

I'm too fucking stupid for this age shit, Gustave has 1 year left before death, is he 32 or 33?

is this bait

i dont like the ost either, but if you're going to counter with better music, at least try to be in the same or similar genre

The incredibly blatant astroturfing campaign around this generic baguetteslop is getting tiring.

ty

You should try calling them mom and dad. Would probably feel really nice for them.

He's 33.
The simple rule is that if your current age is higher than the monolith's number, you get Gommage'd. Sophie was already 34, so she's gone as soon as the number 33 got painted.
In programming terms:
if chara_age > monolith; then gommage

16 - 33

17 - 32

18 - 31

19 - 30

20 - 29

21 - 28

22 - 27

23 - 26

24 - 25

9 years

I wonder how many people missed (or will miss) the Log of Expedition 60.
I just found it randomly because I wanted to take a screenshot. I was really surprised to see a button prompt.

And about this specific expedition. HOLY FUCK A BUNCH OF >>><<<<< YEARS OLD CHAD HONING THEIR MUSCLES FOREVER??? At that point, I really wanted a picture of each expedition team with their logs. It's so fucking kinosad reading the logs, learning how they died, and then watching their corpses match that.
I just haven't figured who a specific team was talking about . The one where one girl kidnapped an old person to torture and kill them. At first I mistakenly thought it was Alicia, since I didn't know that her mother herself painted her with all the scars... Aline is a real bitch...

Also
PHOTO MODE WHEN??????

this song is simple but really well composed and beautiful unlike most of the songs. i'm actually saving this one

Mein neger. Same here

Just started act 2. Where's that log? Hopefully I can find them all.

lmao, imagine missing out on the quintessential white mans game of recent years. you clearly have brown skin and no soul.

Gustave, Lune and Sciel are 32

Sophie was 33

33.png - 692x166, 146.85K

In the final area of the game

the concept of people discussing the hobby here is so foreign to you that you think any time a game is discussed it's some kind of sinister outside force

Luckily I took a picture of that because it's interesting. They kidnapped painted Alicia, but of course she got free. Remember that they are immortal and could heal their wounds at will, except for her because she was painted that way.

file.png - 579x228, 120.51K

oh so her age is increasing while the timer is going down and they meet in the middle, makes sense
must be pretty annoying to have to make calculations like this in your head all the time

Oh, got the rule wrong then.
if chara_age=monolith; then gommage

Makes it easier.

Ok Ranjesh

So it really was Alice... "She refuses to speak"....... Damn that's really messed up. Alice had the worst (unfortunate) role in the game...
I'll definitely NG+ this game, it will be really interesting knowing everything.

implying that a jeet could appreciate this masterpiece in any capacity really puts your ignorance on display

Can you handle a prime French redhead?

I had to switch to french audio because of french swear words in English.
France won.

the VA saying "I WILL HAVE JUSTICE"

Sounded pretty determined... too bad she won't get justice...

Oh, okay.

Boy am I ever glad I never picked up stendhal, or whatever that broken move is called, until the very end. Gommage is fine as a late game super but some throw away regular move? It does almost 1000000 every time I use it, no crit (lvl 90). Nothing else even comes close.

this is a good one, but it's likely my bias toward weird music that is more experimental

I think the lumina converter is giving them exp.

PUTAIN DE MERDE

The expedition logs have tons of interesting shit. Like how Verso Is in complete PTSD from being forced to betray his initial team by painted Renoir after they find out that he's immortal, and refuse to believe him when he's telling them that the paintress isn't the real enemy. At that point he is still hoping that Aline will eventually bring them back, but.... Yeah....

I quite like Verso in my party, gave him the sword that gives S rank on breaks, 100% crits on S and lightning strikes on crit. Otherwise he was there to help set up Maelle with marks and powerful

the character that isn't Sciel or Maelle doesn't really matter

The songs really are incredible. Fuck, everything about this game is blowing me away. I'm 6 hours in and I can't wait to play more.

Lumina Converter both allows them to trap the Chroma from defeated Nevrons and thus level up (meaning every other Expedition did Lv. 1 runs) and, as the name implies, convert Pictos into Luminas. Meaning every previous Expedition could equip at most three Pictors per person and not share them with their party, E33 is the first one that can learn Pictos and equip a multitude of effects via Luminas and Lumina points. My boy Gustave was a goddamn genious.

Verso is really good with Duallisto or whatever that act-again-after-basic-attack shit is. You pretty much get a free turn.

Shes 16 anon..

that's legal age

i listened to this 3 times now. there's not much going on this song. i wish the vocals weren't so loud so i can hear the instruments better. it's like their trying to show off their vocals, but they're nothing special. they breaks between the vocals are wasted opportunities for a better melody. adequate song that serves its purpose

mechanics for battle are explained by in game tech or systems

I fucking love that kind of thing. Based engineerbro Gustave.

I Will forgive the French.

why the fuck is this 32 year old man hanging around a 16 year old woman?
that's some major yikes

brother in christ you really think there is 1 single topic you talk to a 16 year old about??

Good song but peaks too early

I don't think expeditions that early were all made up of people of that age. Earlier ones way more people went in varied ages since they weren't as lacking in personal back then. It was only when the number started clocking down where people stopped wanting to go unless they literally had no other choice.

Yeah, it's been a LONG time since a game manages to trap me like this. I want to get back home and keep playing right away.
There's some merch out but it's just generic clothing, hopefully Kepler works out more stuff like figures or picto pins, I dunno...

E60 leveled up by lifting, bro.

vocals are way too loud, and they don't deserve the focus. otherwise, it's a good song that i'll save and hope someone can fix it in the future

i did the entire endless tower with verso as my strongest character, it was fun to use the aoe light ability to nuke the shit out of everything
i only went and got medalum and made a one-shot maelle to kill simon (haven't done clea yet)

i have not one time ever been able to get the jump dodge to work against these little gremlin bosses with shields. I just got to the buffed out one and after he put his shield up I couldn't do shit. what do?

Don't shoot the messenger.

LEAVE THE THREAD IMMEDIATELY ANON. i want you to enjoy it to the fullest, there's spoilers everywhere

probably the best song from the game, it's not even because it's the most energetic and i don't even listen to jazz often.

not a gloved handjob

Get outta here

Lumina points are a painter thing I'm convinced, you have to spend Colours of Lumina at the Curator/real Renoir and later Maelle once she realizes she's a painter endgame spoilers if you haven't gotten that far yet

Victor Borba on the vocals

Holy shit, he really is a turn based Vergil.

mushoku tensei was right, grooming a wife is simply the best way.

I assure you dear player it is vitality important that Lune stays barefoot for the entire game. For lore reasons of course.

FrenchFeet.png - 1112x711, 1.57M

do you just not like vocals in songs? saying the vocals dont deserve the focus in that second one is insane

Yeah of course, but this one indicated said that the guy, swimming back to Lumiere with the truth of the real enemy, was going to be gommaged. So this muscle god was 60. The others were 60 too, or they'd have sent a younger guy to be sure the information is delivered.

Gustave tries to shoot himself

instantly think of persona

I'm so fucking cooked.

It really shows how lazy and uncaring most development studios are. Good for this team of people for giving a shit

I think they sent him because they were about to fight the strongest enemy in the world and let the weakest of them go and deliver the message.

good song

Anyone with media literacy itt that can tell me what the leftist message is so chuds can't enjoy it?

same

Uhhhhhhhhhhh

Family fucking SUCKS and women should be in control of their lives and the lives of others!!!

tfw you realize a sequel won't come out in at least 5 more years

there isn't one. this is a based game for white chads. leftoids and faggots of all variety are NOT welcome

Oh, you're right, I definitely remember something like that.
Holy fuck did they fight against SIMON...? WITH NO LUMINA?. What a bunch of chads. They must have been really reaaally crazy.

It's strongly advocating for suicide

wanting Expedition 33-2: Painters vs Writers

her face is an omelette du gommage

Suicide isn't inherently leftist, even though many of them do it.
There are chud suicides too, like that Japanese homo, where it's full of honor and dignity!

chudcore game made in the west

what the fuck happened?

there will be no sequel. you can tell from how the endgame is structured that they made this as a one off and are moving on to something else.

you sequel tards are annoying anyway, the entire setting relied heavily on obscured information about the nature of the world, something new is more interesting

so theres no reason to build for anything other than glass canon right? Trying to stack hp feels pointless and having a buffer in the party is a dps loss.

the entire game is about an artifact that you see in every fucking xianxia

but instead of trapping enemies, the owner use it to delude themselves instead

the concept of vengeance is simply absence throughout the game

Why are these frog devs so cucked?

there will be no sequel

whole Writers thing being dropped like that

Yes healing is garbage in this game, shields are OP

How did they do it

Why is Anon Babble folding to this game so hard? Your contrarianism can't do shit against it.

in act 2 you can reach damage limit without going full glass cannon
in act 3 yeah there's no reason not to

this is an insane song? it's nice but it's probably the most simple song i've heard from the game and doesn't do anything for me. maybe if there was actually an "insane" rendition of this song then perhaps

turn off camera effects

game becomes easier than ever when they aren't trying to surprise you with a wacky angle

I see.

Ah, the FFXIV style of gameplay.

Tfw just got into act 2

Talk with the big guy

Relationship level increase
Holy shit man, seeing that mechanic after 12 hours of game blew my mind

ok this is actually approaching le epic insane song territory. this is worth saving. cool bass line and beat. good fusion of orchestral elements

Am I the only one who can't help but feel the game is unfinished? Act 3 being just a short last fight that you are probably over-leveled for, after a multi-hour psuedo-cutscene...

Am I the only one who forgot the letter alicia gives you literally describes a third ending?

The weird little final battle where you get the "obviously bad" ending and the "obviously good" ending feels like they were meant to be like how other jrpgs handle it, where if you rush the final boss you get the bad ending, if you take the time to do the quests right, you get the good ending, and then if you do tons of work and complete everything you get the secret gold ending.

Which would make sense because the endings are reallly:
Bad Ending: you choose to die in the fake world
good ending: you lose the fake world but come to terms with the real world

And the hypothetical "gold" ending: you save the fake world AND come to terms with the real world.

Not to mention one of the optional side events in Act 3 is killing Clea, which feels like that should be a super important story event, especially since it's after the turbo boss room.

Ican't help but feel they just ran out of time.

There are nods to several of Guillaume's fave games. FF8, Persona, Devil May Cry, and so on. This was just another one of those.

i'll try that Bugs. thanks

I wouldn't mind a DLC campaign ala The Answer, covering other previous expeditions.

Everyone glazes maelle because of one broken move she has. Verso was my main dude killing everything with that no healing, start on S rank sword. If my other two members died and it was just him, that was when fights got interesting.
I never used monoco though. Starting ng+ with him now.

this sounds like weird avant-garde and experimental shit my dude. it's in a weird tune. not something that can be easily listened to. perhaps interesting, wouldn't say it's good for any application outside of academic context

Persona without the sovl

Important plot events like the fate of painted Alicia or painted Clea or Simon's existence being all optional is ludokino

*SMTVV came out after FFIX

What's the song that Ben Starr sang? I didn't notice it.

nice try weebkike

luda-what? speak like a normal person

I like it too, really gives you a good reward for exploring.

lmao I must've heard the battle theme in that game hundreds of times and I can't remember it at all. Only the Beelzebub theme stood out.

I dont think a racing game has ever won goty. Racing games and sports games are usually relegated to their 1 category and ignored for overall goty.

The painted world is like a child and Verso's ending is like aborting the baby.

Oh of course, “luminas”, I’ve just been calling the extra effects pictos too, thanks for clearing that up.

2 things:
1) i was told the soundtrack was le fucking amazing. what i find is that it's above average, which is fine
2) since i was told that the ost is dope shit. i'm here trying to find new music to add to my playlist. which is not easy even when listening to compositions that are not scores for video games or movies

the fucking score to this game is like what 8 hours long? i tried to listen to it for a while but it got boring really fast, so my first impression is that at least 90%is useless to me. that's why you're doing work for me by giving me what you think are the best songs using this thread

i really want a clea game where she goes nuclear on the writers while bullying alicia who joins us as a party member

quality, contrarians and shitposters on shambles

Only the Beelzebub theme stood out.

Based, I think SMTVV's OST is actual trash and the worst OST Atlus has made in like a decade but that track specifically is hard.

He went straight to lumiere

Lmao

The game and its gameplay look like dogshit, though. Literally Paper Mario but edgy and with generic with generic West slop visuals and character design.

V's OST IS fucking trash.
I have no idea how it's so praised, that shit is absolutely underwhelming compared to 1,2,3, SJ & IV
It's the first mainline SMT that felt like the OST was complete garbage

accordion is not my personal preference, but it's good folk-classical fusion. nice segment with classical guitar which is of course gonna be more popular than accordion. i'll save it

When you get a composer who does not cost you 200k per song like Jeremy Soule or Mick Gordon.

Magical paintings/ Video games are like an addictive drug and you shouldn’t like escapism.

what are you ESL? i said the music is good enough for your game. it fulfills its purpose. it's not difficult to understand. learning how to accept compliments is a critical social skill that you should learn

Anyone else enjoying that virtually every person in this game is handsome? I didn't consciously notice but I had really missed looking at pleaseant characters. I'm tired of ugly goons.

I would like to take this time to remind you that Zelda.

Gustave is literally Robert Pattinson.

that's a chudcore andrew tateian message
leftists want to do drugs

he's just an average white French man on the dev team

where was the hype for this game's soundtrack? this has really good stuff.

They already said they're gonna develop clair obscur setting

He just like me frfrench

this has really good stuff. where was the hype for this game's soundtrack? your response obscur 33 fags?

know nothing about composing or reading music

go to AI music website

tell it I want a violin family orchestra, melancholic, a french woman saying some shit, likely gibberish, have it become operatic, then transition into a trance battle theme with haunting female vocals

get this

files.catbox.moe/flefle.mp3

its over composers I'm coming for you

your response obscur 33 fags? do you need a high pitched female vocalist to tickle your balls while you listen, is that the key?

Is this game all just Enya-tier Reddit le singing songs or is there actual good instrumentals

maybe in 5 more years it will be able to produce something worth listening to.

Its the way it was. The way it should be. Death to ugliness.

is it just 8 hours of ambiance or are there any bangers in this one?

He looks like him and about 5 other famous guys from different angles. Its kind of remarkable, I didn’t see that on anyone else.

Who is Lune?

My wife

He is literally me

my wife

hey it's typical crappy french pop music

Omlette du frommage?

Should a 16 year old really be dressed like this and the game allow such angles without mods?

Ben Starr? More like bald starr

AoC in France is 15

radio vexel reminds me of gunship/perturbator

damn the music really does all sound the same. maybe generated by AI?

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 2

lmao

Maelle solo

Get the Cheater & Second Chance Luminas

stack crit focus offensives like augmented counters 1-3 and solo fighter pictos that increase your crit when fighting alone

Medala sword

Luck, Agility, & Might maxed out

Steindall kills himat first phase instantly

My experience with second phase was dicey because i was still cheeks at parrying his more elaborate attacks. I lucked out dodging his more basic attacks from his first phase.

I couldn't use Steindal at it's full effect because he would instant kill you if you erase 30 million from the get go. So I had to purposely fumble the QTE of the steindal attack to just get around somewhere around 29 million just to and had to pray for the attacks that weren't 14 fucking swings.

Rest was luck

the only honest one in the team. maelle would erase them all for gustave if she had that choice.

What's the name of the Renoir boss battle music?

So we are getting another game in the world but this time Writers themed?

Gustave fight and Old Lumiere - For those who come after
Monolith fight - une vie a t'amier

Which one? He has like 4 boss battle.

With a cock like that, who wouldn't

You just gotta mark him and sac your friends. I did, in fact, beat Simon. My victory is just as "honest" as everyone else's because I too used what was available in game.

Untitled.jpg - 2560x1440, 686.05K

Don't even need to do that. Just have Sciel use her double dmg skill on Maelle.

sc*el

yuck, get that whore out of my party

Can you put on all the suicide skills and second chance, and do it again a second time? Or would you just revive normally?

have brown skin

don't have a soul

accuse others of being ESL

LMAO

omelette du gommage

there's no "honest" or "dishonest" way, as long as you enjoy the fight, man
you probably enjoy more the "puzzle" aspect of the fight (in regards to the gimmick), by using the tools the game give you
I'm just masochisticly enough to challenge myself at parrying, just another way

I'm just happy that both way are possible in this game

n-nice cock

yeah wait til he overcharges it

game so fucking good it kills shitposters and baiting retards and gets multiple 500+ posts threads per day for over a week

Sometimes, life is OK
