none, Anon Babble still havent dictated me what I should think about it

The only acceptable main character is the guy with the full beard and sunglasses acting maximum asshole
An underappreciated classic that did Mass Effect better than Mass Effect

TURN UP

Anon Babble is in love with the game this could have been

I loved it back then, might play it again if there are interesting mods available

Shit game, yet I've done a full playthrough like six times.

The first hour kinda leaves a bad impression. Then it just gradually gets better until it's over. Unless for some reason you were to start on the hardest setting and pick only shotguns or something but only an autist would do that.

One of the few Gen 5-onwards games that says CHOICES MATTER and actually means it. That mission with the bugs has like 9 different outcomes depending on how many bugs you plant, whether you trip an alarm, whether or not you meet Sis, etc.

It's on the 'Jank as fuck RPG but still oozes charm' pantheon along with E.Y.E, New Vegas, and KCD

KCD

first one or the second one

If I meant the second one, I would have typed KCD II

bump

Can you use a controller on the Steam version?

just pirate it nigger

You'll like it if you like rpgs where you start out as a weakling that cant even aim straight.
You'll hate it if you dont.

Really good, although the boss fights are somehow as whacky as in God Hand.

A better game than it has any right to be

Alpha Protocol

Every option you pick lets you play as an alpha male

They really don't make them like they used to

Did the game ever get any mods?

Not really

Even Leland bows to Heck

wild

for me, it was how the game didn't bother coming up with a bullshit in-universe explanation for how your unlockable powers worked. yep, this power gives you temporarily bottomless ammo reserves. this one lets you pause time to line up headshots. this one literally makes you invisible. it leaves just enough negative space in the game world so you can imagine the reason yourself, thus helping you roleplay 'your' Mike: you don't see it, but of course he's doing gun-kata or he's literally that skilled at evading detection or whatever.

and you know something? i don't mind. like bayonetta, it could have gone stupid-wacky, but it felt stylish-wacky instead. there's a subtle difference between the two, but at the end of the day i felt like a cool super-agent playing the game, and that's why I love it.

It is cool, definitely a product of its era with it very comfortably being in the "WOW MASS EFFECT COOL" Era of things where people really liked Shooty Action RPG with Talking segments with consequences and multiple choice past.

Don't worry kiddo, i'll see if i can recall shit from the past to help your newfag ass. Let's see, lots of shit posting about how it ran and glitches, Threads about killing/not killing the mute girl (and some anons horny for her), generally unfavourable comparsions to mass effect and an attitude that it was gonna flop/undergoing flopping and wasted its budget, but not completely hated because people like the wide array of choices and consequences, If i remember shit right people had issue with the Marketting Budget or something too.

This is from the top of my head though. After the flop was confirmed anons warmed up on it signifigantly, after a couple of years the rare threads were primarily positive.

Any other Choice matters action RPGs you anons reccomend besides anything from Bethesda or Bioware?

Sie rape my anus, PLEASE

SMG and Unarmed are dogshit skills. Change my mind.

shut the fuck up, weirdo

Unarmed is good to complement Pistols if you're doing a non-lethal run

Would be a 10/10 if the PC port wasn't so crappy.

Absolutely fucking brilliant. One of the best games of all time and one of only two good games Obsidian has ever made.

Try binary domain

My first playthrough was focused in on Unarmed. I don't remember having that much trouble if any.

BD is a fun game but choices don't matter there at all.

Deus Ex series

Best Obsidian game. The gameplay is janky and terrible though.

I wish the GoG release would have fixed more, but one should just expect minimal bug fixes and QoL mod integration.
Sick of GoG always acting like they made a definite edition when in actually the game now runs on the current big OS, with no further support while the fourm fills up with bug reports.

It is both shit and brilliant at the same time. I am truly upset that we do not get more games like this - low to mid budget AA games that explore creative ideas like James Bond but a WRPG.

It's fun once you get past the jank. I miss the times when Obsidian still made fun games.

wait it's on steam? i though they pulled it off a long time ago

the best bad game ever
it's a complete fucking mess to play in the moment to moment, but AP as an RPG is unparalleled.

it's a complete fucking mess to play in the moment to moment, but AP as an RPG is unparalleled.

That's really what it comes down to. The RPG element to it is second to none and will make you feel like you're a spy living in a world where you cannot trust a soul. The actual gameplay though is rough shit.
Still for as truly ambitious as the ideas behind the game were it was inevitable it would be a mess.
Still some of the most fun i've ever had.

THE RADIO

He hasn't done an unarmaed playthruogh.

Stealth. Martial Arts. Technical Aptitude.
Stealth gives you invisibility.
Martial Arts has you dealing ridiculously high damage with melee attacks and stunlocking everything.
Technical Aptitude gives you the most overpowered skill in the entire game, Brilliance, to refresh all cooldowns.

You effectively stunlock everything, once everything is on cooldown you Brilliance and do it again, then go invisible until Brilliance is back and repeat.
