I agree with most of the rest except
AI slop
Not seeing it much in actual games, and frankly people crying about it tend to be "artists" who make low quality bullshit that is being threatened, so they're having a hissy fit. The real issue with AI is it being controlled by a handful of megacorps with proprietary models and training data, for top tier models. Open source models and data that is self-host capable is what we should be fighting for, but the anti-AI trannies are going to ensure that only intellectual property lawyers, content cartels, and AI megacorps are going to get the benefit, if they keep screeching about the wrong thing.
As far as the rest
Gacha, item mall bullshit including multi-level FOMO "collection events" , "F2P" mobile monetization strategies, and other psychological tricks
Pretending cosmetic content is not content
Are some of the worst behaviors. Buy to play, subscriptions etc.. are fine ways to monetize, but these other things overtake them because it only takes a handful of idiots for it to be profitable; its basically unable to "vote with your wallet" away from it. I used to work for a MMO in the old days; we looked over to Korea and thought
If we tried to charge $10 for an outfit, we'd have no audience at all; our players would never put up with paying an entire month's subscription fee for a single cosmetic, nor should they!
How times have fucking changed.
