G@meD3v Thread - Night Edition

Anyone up working on their game on this Friday night Saturday morning? I got progress.

Let me guess, it's another dark souls inspired metroidvania roguelike pixel/retro art allegory for mental illness isn't it. If that's the case count me in

Now that's a genre.

I don’t work on the sabbath.

me too. sabbath is to redpill the masses about the crimes of the jews (God's cursed people)

Oh man!

Which is Sunday.

Honestly I want to start but I don't know where to even begin. I lurk in these threads a lot and it's hard to decide what I could work on that would make me feel satisfied. I like messing with modeling programs and photoshop, but game engine? Which one should I start with?

Or it's a horror indie game?

Dont fall for the game dev meme.
You'll never make the next big hit.

No, it is Mars horizon inspired game

Lmao true, can't forget the ultra-saturated psychological horror walking sim with cryptic VHS aesthetics and trauma symbolism. Extra points if it has liminal spaces and distorted lullabies.

unitycucks are getting ragpulled again

OH NONONONO, IMAGINE STILL MAKING A GAME IN UNITY IN 2025, COULDN'T BE ME

Doean't affect me and my next my project.

got it so i can ask gpt4.1 to create an npc concept with health and age, and instantiate one. Then say let age increase as time goes by. and it'll get reflected in the game (multicore enabled) in only a couple seconds.

what a weird vibe for them to be smiling friendly while holding a discipline crop in their teeth

Do you have speedrunners in mind when you are designing your game

It is a french game.

I can taste the chromatic aberration, kek.

Hey not bad! At first I wasn't sure but there's some interesting gameplay for what it is. Did you ask for music advice a while back and put a few tracks on here? If so good job getting it out!

The autoscroller platformer that removes your ability to go fast

Anon platformers really are getting worse and worse. Character designs regressed and now we have this new guy who does not understand the genre.

Needs more hairy girls with large breasts for it to be a true French game A-non

Hey thank you. No I have a background of making chiptunes and Sound effects already, but this is the first game I made all by myself.

New

Big update: Beginning the transition of removing borrowed assets. UE5 skeleton in blender has been configured properly to not warp the meshes weird anymore. Still working on actual character mesh but using an AI reference model.

Building modular character with the AI reference model in blender now that it works well in the game

adding AI normal monsters with basic attacks, and weapons.

changing icons and textures to remove further borrowed assets.

updating menu widget to include more options like sound, graphics, gameplay, and viewing the controls.

I just asked chatgpt where to start since all I've done since I studied game dev in college was some landscaping with water and a tutorial or two
it's going to be the best 3D competitive multiplayer physics-based game ever with jiggle physics and fanservice up the ass and it's going to make me a millionaire

I love AI

speedrunners should be the only thing on your mind while you are developing your video game

YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE DEAN HALL (got DayZ standalone before Steam refund existed, emailed asking for my money back, got told no lol).

It can be stupid sometimes but modeling in AI for weapons and accessories is great.

I've made [some] progress but it's nothing impressive enough to post here.

Does anyone here know of any japanese sites that sell animation packs or a site in general that has lots of anime style animations?
I know japan have a site for music and sound effects, and there's another one for 2D art, and they have their own kickstarter variant so surely there must be some 3D asset/animation japanese site out there

Its been a while since I posted but I made increadible progress the past month, so much in fact that it would take too long to type out.
Currently struggling to find an easy way of making (and playing) a two pawn animation in unreal I know I can just play it as a level sequence but thats a bit too raw for me.

I still can't decide on a programming language. Whenever I get some work done I start doubting my choices. I think i'll just put off my game idea until i get my shit together.

i wish i had powerlevel to commit to SDL
i have just enough autism to not want to pay for things that i'm not using, but reinventing the wheel for everything from input managers to decent rendering is too much
so i just have to gnash my teeth in impotent frustration

you fucking retard stop posting this over and over
you pick an engine and go from there, not pick a language. yeah why don't you start learning golang and start DEVELOPING GAMES WITHOUT AN ENGINE BECUASE THERE'S NO ENGINE THAT USES IT RETARD

Any progress even updating text is progress.

It is crazy that Unity did this but at the same time they clearly requested to be contacted to clear things up, which obviously there was a mistake. So what happens instead is this guy went to reddit and put it all on blast and I just have to wonder why you would do that. They saw people using Unity Personal editions to work on retail products that require Pro at an address registered to that company, it seems pretty obvious how this mistake was made. I just don't know if I would go to reddit with an incident like this I don't see what that accomplishes. You sign papers with Unity that make situations like this super touchy. They are legally allowed to monitor usage of the engine and try to determine if licenses are being broken. They are legally allowed to contact companies and try and clear things up or see if a mistake was made. I don't know if licensees are legally allowed to them copy paste these emails to the internet and say they can't wait for Unity to die.

TLDR: Don't get emotional and run to the internet when legal things are involved.

unity does a thing

devs around the world: I'm so glad I'm using godot hate unity! godot wins again!

Godot can't even handle large projects...

You are literally the only person in this thread that talked about it, normal people just talked about Unreal.

Idk I read it up on it a few different places by now. This is just the second time I've seen Unity drama cause everyone to make noise about godot. Godot cannot serve as a replacement for Unity studios. If it could they all would have switched by now and saved billions.

Actually true. If you can race through things yourself without issues you're making a tight game. Smash through dialog windows without reading it. Try to do everything as fast as possible and not just how you know it's meant to operate, because that's how many players will actually be playing it once they get comfortable.

OY M8 YOU GOT A LOICENSE FOR THAT CODE?

Do unitycucks really?
