What will the new mainline Zelda game on the Switch 2 be like?
What will the new mainline Zelda game on the Switch 2 be like?
Exactly the same as the two before it and nobody buying it will give a shit because Nintentards are a blight.
it will be like tears of the kingdom but minecraft instead of banjo kazooie nuts and bolts
yes they should fart out another beta built on ocarina of time's skeleton instead of doing what they want and actually finishing it
Another botw dlc. Still only 4 dungeons and then a bunch of shrines. no side/secret dungeons. Still no narrative or content reason to explore the map outside of main dungeons areas. Non-linear story told in memories you have to find. Characters are still only allocated a single 20 second cutscene to introduce and flesh them out. No multI-step side quests, no meaningful side quest rewards. Nothing you do will have any impact on the gameworld or the characters.
Also only 3 new armor sets and 4 new enemy types
There's no way they're gonna do the whole memories shit again for a third time right?
gonna be dogshit
Botw and Totk were good, so why do you think that?
botw and especially totk were dogshit
Care to elaborate?
BotW 3
Dogshit, BOTW 3 most likely
Until Aomuma leaves the series, it will be open world slop with zero dungeons.
All I ask for is some dungeons...
OoT remake
If its good enough, MM remake
Maybe Oracle of remake
The same as the last two but with a different coat of paint to try to convince people that it's totally not BotW 3.
In every interview Aonuma harps on how much he loves the unguided, unrestricted freedom of botw and totk. Hes not going to make a game with a linear narrative that requires any railroading of the experience
They're nice sandboxes but they have deep design flaws that Nintendo has 0 intention of addressing
Never played totk? Plenty of caves, not the underworld
I’m expecting a spiritual successor to BOtW/TOTK since both of them sold so well.
No, I’m not happy about it
Its gonna be BotW: Survival Crafting edition.
Create Skyward Sword, restrictive and linear
3.7 million units on a late-era Wii
BotW, 32 million over S1's lifetime
TotK, 22 million in 2 years
Gee I wonder what the next Zelda will take inspiration from.
we did not get the timeline where Koizumi is the director
You don't need your story to be told through memories for unguided unrestricted freedom.
I wouldn't be shocked if they reused the map a 3rd time
I'm really curious if they're going to have the balls to make a third game in BOTW hyrule
No, but it will still likely be told non-linearly in some fashion and driven by player decisions in how you experience it. And will still be unsatisfying most likely
Two options.
A: Recycle the map again but this time the gimmick will be underwater exploration
B: Recycle the map again but this time the gimmick is going backwards through time(OoA style) or forwards through time (OoT style) or an actual LttP style Dark World instead of that retarded underground shit from TotK.
I'm okay with open world but if they keep adding these new game defining mechanics they need to do it better than last time. BotW and it's abilities were great and fresh. TotK was fun for the first 15 hours, but then you learned how broken the new mechanics actually were. The game became a total drag because it was just mind numbingly easy at that point. Some of the exploration was still exciting but the game is just broken by design.
I really, really wish they would bring back layered NPC side quests like they had in Majoras Mask where you actually have time to get invested in the characters stories. All the side quests in botw were just "Bring me a mushroom in exchange for a carrot"
If they hadn’t gotten embarrassed by BG3 I bet they definitely would have
I'm really curious if they're going to have the balls to make a third game in BOTW hyrule
There's already 3 with the Age of Calamity abortion of a Warriors game, with the Warriors abortion coming soon.
second warriors abortion coming soon*
So you should ask if they have the balls for FIVE BotW Hyrule games.
I'm expecting it to be 50% botw, 50% new
I wouldn't mind being able to go back in time and experience a pre-calamity Hyrule. But that would be too much effort for Nintendo to fill the map up with towns, people and activity
but it will still likely be told non-linearly
I don't care as long as it's not told through memories.
Turns out gmod doesn't lend itself well to actual video game applications. Who knew? Constraints on the player are a good thing, thats called game design. But Aonuma thinks the only thing that makes a game good is just being allowed to do anything at any time
They already have the map, all they have to do is delete shit and add different shit in it the same they did with TotK. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the norm from now on, just recycling as much as possible while focusing the bulk of the attention on New Gimmick™
Won't be one. Prepare to deal with playing BOTW and TOTK again but this time at higher FPS! Combine your time from the switch 1 with your time doing it again on the switch 2 and that is nearly 1000 hours. What a value!
Doing the memories shit again in totk was such a bizarre decision. It makes sense in botw because you're an amnesiac waking to a post-apocalypse and piecing together what happened. But in totk the events are actively unfolding during the game and they still decided to center the narrative around you learning what happened in the past...again
