he thinks normalfags actually play these games instead of watching a streamer
If you use a great sword none of these games are difficult
Great swords are slow and require knowledge of enemy attack patterns to hit safe openings. A long sword or straight sword paired with a shield is a lot more practical for a noob.
No they don’t.
You'd be surprised.
At college I lived with a guy who was the chad/jock stereotype. Big, tall guy who was on several sports teams and was banging a new woman every single week.
I'd frequently see him in the house just playing Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne in his free time and he was really good at the games. The only other games he played were CoD and Fortnite.
It’s statistically proven that guys like fantasy more than sci-fi. He probably liked Skyrim too.
naw, sword and shield is by far the easiest way to play
They aren't actually "hard", its a very clever presentation by fromsoft to give the illusion of difficulty.
The gameplay loop forces repetition, and humans are innately very good at pattern recognition. Even the dumbest/worst players with enough forced recognition will learn a boss' patterns and what dodge timings work or not. Very few of the bosses are genuinely "difficult", They all just artificially create difficulty by having awkward and unintuitive attack timings that you have to learn after enough repetition.
So even for the normies that aren't "good" at the games, its very difficult for them to get truly hardstuck because enough repetition will get them through whatever boss. And there's tools like summoning to help them over any true hardstuck walls.

I can't. I literally can't perform the moves required to beat Souls bosses.
I could spend over 500 hours playing any Dark Souls game, Demon's Souls or Elden Ring, and would literally never beat it.
hard
Not really hard: that's why most people can beat them after banging their head against the wall enough times.
They're just obtuse. The games don't explain themselves, at the level of very basic mechanics and directions as to where to go next.
Great time wasters though.
Have you ever charged an r2? You get so much poise. You sound like on those retards from Anon Babble who thinks str is too hard every time a new souls like comes out
The game explains all of its basic mechanics clearly. You just need to know how to press r1 and circle. I'm a pro at that so I know.
lock on
circling around bosses is almost always free (no damage on contact)
shielding is almost always worthless
parrying requires timing and knowing what can be parried, but isn't necessary for any fight
you have four basic directions to dodge: left right back and forward. Forward is often the correct call since it puts you behind the boss' attack animation
if you do enough damage per hit you don't need to worry about being perfect, you can simply kill the boss
ranged attacks are almost always boss breaking: just run away and spam spells/arrows
this is even easier if you summon
There, that's all soulslike games. The hardest part of all this is the input lag: all your abilities have a lag of a fraction of a second from when you press the button, which throws off ALL timings until you get used to it (compared to better coded games).
for pve the huge stagger on heavy weapons is a godsend
Souls shit is nowhere near difficult it just pads it's game with enemy mobs in compact areas, the boss rushes are harder than the actual bosses.
I'm doing das3 for the first time today and got stuck on firelink shrine because the prompt to place the coiled sword is literally one inch of the circle around the bonfire. Fucking retarded. Do any NPCs even tell you to do that? I talked to several of them and then got fucked by katana guy a couple times before I just googled it (and discovered other people got stuck not knowing they needed to warp to the first real area).
^ all that is simply bad game design. So is having a fast paced knight type boss in the tutorial rather than a fat slow guy like in DeS or DaS1. It's pandering to a fanbase and it had me gated until I tried a different class that could do more damage right off the bat.
Again: none of this is hard. It's just not explaining basic mechanics (ie, the basic bitch boss strategy) and failure to explain what needs to happen next.
If I got to Andre without placing the coiled sword, he SHOULD have had a voice line commenting on it. The maiden should have explicitly said to stick it in the bonfire. EVERY NPC should have said something. And then after that, the maiden should tell players to warp to the next area.
normalfags who casually play a game here or there are better at it compared to you who lives and breathes this shit
you're a fucking disgrace
Obtuse is a very good word for it.
That being said, basic mechanics and such are very, very well explained in DS1 and 3. They have excellent tutorials.
Do any NPCs even tell you to do that?
The Coiled Sword itself does.
Sword missing from the shrine bonfire. Cannot be equipped as a weapon.
Thrust into the shrine bonfire to restore its power and enable travel between bonfires.
The only way that's true is if you have muscular dystrophy or are intellectually disabled in a way that barns self reflection.
Literally how?
You're a poorly socialized mentally ill retard and can't distinguish reality from the voices in your head.
I died a bunch in undead burg and gave up. My reflexes and patience just aren't there anymore. I think it would take me a year or more to complete it without a guide or busted weapons. I've always been kind of bad at games and I've only gotten worse since I've gotten older.
I don't have either, I'm just extremely bad at video games and have anger issues that prevent me from coping with failure.
I’ve seen onlyfans whores do no hit runs using a dancepad. You’d be surprise how good “normies” can get at these games. Or maybe we were the normies all along.
See you can even see where the devs fucked up
aw gee for years players have been obsessing about item description flavor text
let's just put the directions to progress the entire game in an item description
not in npc dialogue
not with an actual large prompt all around the bonfire to place the sword
not with a screen that explicitly says what to do with it
not with any kind of sensible environmental storytelling
Nah just read every item description bro
It's bad game design.
Key items have oftentimes had important text on them, even if it's something obvious like "key to the sewer door in (location)."
It's not like it's an armor set or a weapon, which almost always have flavor text or nothing special at all.
Could the prompt to place the sword have been bigger? Absolutely. Is it bad design? No lol.
is this from reddit or something
A game is not truly hard if it's adored by every Playstation normie and has speedruns where people beat the game hitless playing with their feet. A truly hard game would be something like La Mulana
The prompt being tiny is literally bad game design. I LOOKED FOR IT, and didn't find it until I went back and checked every degree of the circle after googling. It's tiny, in only one location. Why? There can be no justification.
Also the need to warp to the starting area: come the fuck on. DaS1 did such a good job with having everything being interconnected. DeS had the stones to warp to the worlds, which was explained by dialogue. I never tried DaS2. What the fuck were they thinking for DeS3?
No I just had a life for like a decade and only now am back to having time for vidya.
We need more La Mulanas in the world for me to get mad at.
Those are fixable issues, self medicate if you need to or reach the point were your angry all the time thus your body naturally acclimates to it.
Elden Ring comes out
WTF BRUHS MUH STR NOT WORKY???
Str ends up being one of the easiest and strongest unga builds
Lies of P comes out
WTF BRUHS STR 2 SLOW???
Str ends up being the best way to get insane burst damage and staggers
AI Limit coems out
WTF BRUHS STR IS BAD IN THIS GAME???
Str builds end up being busted
a tale as old as time
Lmao this is how I feel about old arcade games and (some) old platformers, also action games on the highest difficulty. Souls games are comparatively much easier.
The only thing that really pisses me off is how obtuse the NPC quests are, and how the DLC in DS1 was locked behind a secret.
but you're meant to replay the game 13 times until you figure out the NPC went to this random location you've already been through and have no reason whatsoever to go back to
Fucking sucks
There was a Souls thread 2 weeks ago or so with a retard trying to convince people that DaS1 was bad because he couldn't figure out where to go from Firelink. People called him a moron for trying to force his way through the catacombs instead of simply turning around and noticing that the other path was easier, but he wouldn't have any of it. The whole world was wrong and the game was bad, simply because he was too oblivious to find the obvious path, and too stubborn to believe other people when they said it really was just that simple. This anon reminds me so much of him that I'm practically sure it's the same person.
you won't need reflexes anymore when you find your first greatshield.
It’s pretty easy to level up your equip load to use a shield with a great sword. You’d be better off learning how to doge anyways.
>one of the absolute most brutally hard series of all time
yeah if you're stupid lol
play an RTS
you can beat them if you just die a bunch of times until you beat it
uhm, that's literally any hard game ever. anyone can beat any game if they spend enough time mastering the mechanics; that doesn't mean the game isn't hard
not saying souls games are the hardest games ever either, i can never get into megaman games because i hate the way they're designed so they filter me
you have never played a single souls game you will never beat a single souls game and that makes me superior to you
Nah I played DaS1 on release and had no problem going the intended path. I even actually picked up zweihander from exploring but didn't realize it was really good, so I fucked around until Anon Babble was all about the dragon tail sword with no damage scaling and I picked up that lol.
When that fell off I upgraded by zwei with lightning and just crushed the rest of the game. I only learned to parry on the final boss because I was too lazy to farm souls for enough health to just bash my face into him until he died.
most brutally hard series of all time
Use magic and shields.
My only problem with dark souls 1 is finding the embers to upgrade your weapon I missed the one in the sewers because the area is pitch black so I stopped playing for year after I reached blight town
It’s not the same as nes games where the bosses are unfair on purpose and typically you don’t even have to get hit running to them.
i love souls games and the only one I haven't played is ds2 because its shite
its not even hard you nigger
It's not really that hard. It was just a bit more punishing in a time when journalist hand holding was picking up. It was a reaction to the easy, cinematic experience. The notion that your first souls game was your hardest also rings true. You struggle through one and the rest are a fun challenge because you've built up muscle memory. Also playing knight/wizard/priest/thief dress up is fun. It precedes the normalfsg dnd exploring of the last 5 years.
Alright man, my bad then.
first souls is your hardest
wrong, i started with ds1 and elden ring is much more difficult than the rest including sekiro
No problem, I forgive you. I don't claim to be good at video games, but I will claim to be able to recognize bad design. And even most of DeS3 that I've played so far isn't bad design, just a few things early on were minor mistakes and honestly should have been patched out in the first week.
Then you're either retarded or sandbagging. Each game gives you all the tools to trivialize them. When you're starting out you're more likely to miss them or miuse them. Later on you're probably deliberately ignoring them. Elden Ring is piss easy with any combo of buffs, spells, ashes of war and spirits. Summoning other players is ironically a trap because they overturned the boss buffs for once.
one of the absolute most brutally hard series of all time
If you've played a total of 2 mainstream games, both of them being walking simulators on "story mode" difficulty, I could see why you'd think that.
spirits
unironically didn't beat the game
but yeah if he's struggling with aows or spells it's over
you didn't even beat the game
Both Strength and Dex are great. It’d kinda be bad if they weren’t, that’d just be shit design.
Virgins.
Radahn 2 was harder than all of DS1-3.
Dark Souls isn't hard because once you memorize the bosses attack pattern, the game just become a walk in the park. Every retard can do this by bruteforcing it too. If the game had permeant death, more consequences by getting hit, or limited healing items/bonfire, the game would be harder.
why would i use shit that by your own words trivializes the game? fuck are you playing for if you don't like to be challenged, they make animal crossing for faggots like you
Each game gives you all the tools to trivialize them
Elden Ring is piss easy with any combo of buffs, spells, ashes of war and spirits.
And there it is, folks. They made the game cancer with dubstepping boss attacks, AOE spam, estus detection, and fake attacks. But at the same time they give you all this broken shit to defeat it. Normalniggers get to beat it with their OP shit, telling anyone with mechanical criticism they themselves are incapable of understanding to git gud while they use the mimic tear with a bunch of spells and OP weapon arts to just "get it done." Meanwhile, people who actually want to enjoy the game cannot because it has turned into nuclear aids unless you use all the broken tools provided to you to defeat all of the broken bosses.
Fuck elden ring, and fuck you.
Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, etc. were never "hard", they are not hard games. They are unforgiving in their upfront gameplay experience, sure, but that in itself isn't "hard", and all of the games provide you more than enough tools and options to very easily out-gear and out-level any challenge they can offer you, and unlike many games where player power to steamroll is often gated behind other challenges, exploration, or mastery, Souls games basically just lock it behind "kill a lot of whatever you want."
Which is why any braindead zoomer retard can pick up Elden Ring, struggle a bit at first, and then quickly get on to beating it even if they never really learn "how" to play "properly". Because the games are not hard, they're just (in the same way older arcade games and their descendants on consoles were), straightforward offerings where you were expected to try over and over and over until you either got lucky or you learned from your mistakes, understood the patterns and the obstacles, and just did it.
"My peenus weenus was never "hard". It as just wingus pingus my dingus!"
Thats literally what you all sound like to me right now. Try having a little fun once in a while.
cryingwojak.png
if the game was harder it’d be harder
y… yeah?
You retards always say this as if dark souls can't be equally trvialized by dumb shit like pyromancy. You're mad that a simple sword and board build doesn't also melt things this time. You sound like melee autists at this point.
The difference is Elden Ring was designed with the dumb shit being used in mind with regular players getting the middle finger.
That is why the game is so popular, and that is why the game is so shit. It is actually much, much harder than any other fromsoft game but also much, much easier. Was the perfect recipe for success but the real fans were tossed aside.
It just requires some patience and the occasional wiki check for the average person to beat them. The retardism still shines through on occasion.
I remember when the pc port was first released and people's who only knowledge of the game is that it is 'le ebin hard game' went straight to the graveyard and thought dying 50 times just trying to get to pinwheel was the intended path.
