This game sucks. Everyone was pissed off back in the day when Valve ditched Left 4 Dead in only a year and the gameply wasn't even the best back in the day. #2 also replaced the Resident Evil zombie atmosphere with meme driven ironic "Lets go kill zombies and shieeet :^)" trash. Killing Floor already had it beaten 6-1. The zombies are paper targets, the gunplay is nonexistent, and the gameplay is floaty and unsatisfying. The maps are stagnant and never change beyond one singular level in Dead Center. You're given identical characters with identical weapons and no variety in how you use them. I can't believe I wasted so many hours of my life playing this. Deep Rock Galactic now has this game completely beaten. So has Killing Floor from the beginning. Better atmosphere, better gameplay and far more replayability than this literal walking simulator.
This game sucks...
I always found the reaction to this game bizarre. The first time a Valve game does not take the better part of a decade to come out and the game receives too much backlash. Sure, all the gameplay changes were miniscule but significant and there was enough content to say it was at least a new game in the sense Doom II was a "new" entry. Sadly, that was the last good game they released. Nothing but e-sports cancer from then on and a VR game that retcons Half-Life 2 ending in a marvel slop fashion.
Meanwhile Counter Strike has been re-released for the past decade with even fewer changes and lootboxes and people eat that shit up.
The worst part of L4D2 is that it is a fun game that exists in a fucked up void similar to Quake Live where I am tempted to play it if not for the amount of shitty servers that will try to fuck your computer and if you find a group do not expect to get pass the vote kick minigame.
Killing Floor
Don't remind me. What a blast it was. Say what you will of L4D2 but at least it was an improvement over the first game.
Killing Floor 2 is one of the few games I regret purchasing and KF3 seems even worse, at some point Tripwire tripped over themselves.
Nothing will ever replace KF1.
Deep Rock Galactic
Not the same, that's just Borderlands if Borderlands was any good.
Also the OP is a faggot.
Nice blogpost. The only thing which actually has merit here is the change in atmosphere, everything else is meaningless buzzwords.
You already made this thread.
Stop posting.
So nothing I said about the boring gameplay matters?
Was with you until you started trying to praise killing floor.
the zombies all just walk straight at you
that's it!
More bullet spongey isn't a plus by the way, it's good to have shooting at your target be more responsive. If it's too easy then make the movements less predictable or increase the number of them. Increasing hp is the laziest and least fun way of adding challenge.
I doubt anyone's going to read it. The games nearly 16 years old now.
It's better than the literal nothing zombies that die in a single bullet like in Left 4 Dead 2.
No that's literally what I'm saying. Why the fuck wouldn't you want to actually see the effect of yourself shooting at something?
It doesn't matter if it makes killing a zombie too easy, because that's why you have more of them and code them to actually swerve so they are harder to hit.
Meanwhile? The most amount of strategy you do in Left 4 Dead 2 is giving painpills to the person with the least health or going to the safe room.
There's a way to do that without flooding the screen with shit because all the zombies do nothing but die.
true. killing floor 1 was and still is awesome
youtu.be
You already know that's leaving a shit load of information out given how much there is to l4d.
Are you really going to argue that having shit load of zombies is bad in a zombie shooter?
The maps are always the same. The mobs are always the same. The missions are always the same. The gameplay is floaty and unsatisfying.
L4D gives you identical characters with identical skill set, using identical weapons and gear. Your "team work" is limited to throwing a pipe bomb or bile at the right time, and giving some meds to friends when they're low on health. In every other instance, the winning tactic is to just rush to the exit / safe room.
You've never played a single minute of DRG, kiddo. The game is a prime example of super balancing, excellent gameplay variety, and stellar atmosphere. It's also a pure co-op game, with zero competitive elements. The more people you play with, and the more of you survive to the end, the more everyone benefits.
Killing Floor already had superior gameplay and replay value.
Superior OST and atmosphere.
KF was the sole reason most people were originally excited for L4D(1); zombie fans were losing their minds of the idea of Valve making a high budget "KF clone".
The maps are always the same. The mobs are always the same. The missions are always the same. The gameplay is floaty and unsatisfying.
DRG has procedurally generated missions and fully destructive maps, that pack a lot of vertical, 3-diemnsional gameplay, that perfectly utilizes the game's class types.
And if you really want to bring in mods, then both KF and DRG have it beaten to pulp.
Nice reductionism into strawman.
You're trying to be very reductionist with how you're looking at Killing Floor to the point of absurdity.
That was because they promised a whole bunch of stuff via marketing post launch for Left 4 Dead 1 only for them to abandon it in a year, which everyone was pissed off at.
Bump
It's sixteen years old so you can't talk about it
What?
So teamwork is a bad thing?
L4D gives you identical characters with identical skill set, using identical weapons and gear.
Fun trivia, according to one of the devs, there was a faction in the development team that pushed for a class system, but one of the project leads shut that down because they wanted the game to be accessible and not force players to have to be a specific class in order to enjoy the game
Deep Rock Galactic
Not the same, that's just Borderlands if Borderlands was any good.
You are clearly just as braindamaged as the OP.
in order to enjoy the game
Amen.
I don't know why with how popular it was there was only like 10 maps to play, steam workshop doesn't count
It’s also made by known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
Nice reductionism into strawman again. I'm saying that there's nothing to the team work other than that. There's nothing other than giving people pills, healing them, or rushing to the safe room. DRG has way better teamwork, much more variety and everyone benefits when you work together.
/thread. nu-valve is only good at helping online casinos make bank
Nigga don't play it if you ron't like it. It's a 20 year old game and not relevant.
Left 4 Dead 2? Damn, that game was so good.
Le dumb it down for mainstream appeal!
Lol, this is what killed video games in general.
I am NTA who talks about teamwork.
I love both games. But I don't see how DRG has better teamwork mechanics. You can do the same with similar classes, it will make things slower, that's all. When I am dying somewhere behind, team can just continue without reviving me.
As you saying about pills mechanic, DRG dosent have healing mechanic like this. So it's even less teamwork mechanics in DRG.
Weak bait. I suggest in future post to lean more on other zombie games like No More Room in Hell, rather then only Killing Floor. And maybe attack more emotionally the reader.
It's relevant. It's the most popular zombie game on the market.
Killing Floor already had it beaten 6-1.
Killing Floor is a horror game until one of the characters open their mouths.
Why are you all suddenly talking about Deep Rock Galactic out of no where? I mean I get it. Defending Killing Floor is kind of difficult so I get why you want to switch to a better game instead.
I wish I was but that's legitimately every enemy in KF summed up.
Incredibly smart call.
Saying
The most amount of strategy you do in Left 4 Dead 2 is giving painpills to the person with the least health
Was reductionist to begin with you hypocrite. Tell me, when a teammate is being pounced by a hunter, do you throw a painpill at them?
Just listen to mics of your teammates in both games.
I played DRG for 100 hr and never heard any mics.
In L4D almost every game has guy with mic who talks "ROCHELE WE NEED TO GET MOVING, MOVE YOUR ASS". They are in roles and count on each other.
This guy gets it. You gotta strike at my fee fee's if you want me to take the (You) bait.
pounced by a hunter
This. Almost every mechanic in L4D is about teamwork.
better gunplay
better easter eggs
better replayability
better characters
better maps
better atmosphere
Black Ops 1-3 Zombies mogs L4D.
never cared for the characters in Black Ops, and maps are in the same quality, but the rest of your points are true.
never cared for the characters
I only cared for the Ultimis crew. Every one else was either trying too hard to be badasses or just boring personality wise.
You didn't refute anything I said about Killing Floor, retard. There's nothing interesting about Left 4 Dead 2 compared to Killing Floor.
You didn't refute anything I said about Killing Floor, retard.
I have no idea who you are.
There's nothing interesting about Left 4 Dead 2 compared to Killing Floor.
Basically every special and boss infected in L4D does something that none of the Killing Floor enemies do. You don't see Killing Floor zombies grab players by their tongue and pull them towards them, nor do you see them creating giant acid puddles the players need to avoid stepping on.
You don't see Killing floor zombies do anything that isn't just walking straight at the player.
You don't see Killing floor zombies do anything that isn't just walking straight at the player
have you even played the game before? lmao. bloaties do vomit, spiders jump, clots root you in place, sirens destroy projectiles mid-air, husks keep their distance and try to snipe you, and patriarch shoots a minigun/rocket launcher and goes invisible either to fug you in melee or fuck off to heal
The Killing Floor enemies all do vastly different things, are you retarded? This anon just reamed you.
Absolutely nailed it. Killing Floor sets up this creepy, oppressive mood with its music and dark environments—and then one of the Zeds says some goofy one-liner or the brit commando dude starts screaming about tea and crumpets mid-fight. Completely kills the tone. L4D might lean into campy humor, but at least it knows what it is.
You don't see Killing Floor zombies grab players by their tongue and pull them towards them, nor do you see them creating giant acid puddles the players need to avoid stepping on.
Are you agreeing with this then?
bloaties do vomit
A boring version of the boomer since they don't summon a wave when they vomit you
spiders jump
lol, barely. Not they are basically another "walk straight at the player" because of their leap is so pathetically short, truly a gimped version of the hunter.
clots root you in place
When they get to you. Otherwise they... walk straight at the player.
sirens destroy projectiles mid-air
Never used anything projectile based in this game. Didn't even realised they did that lol. But again they also just walk straight at the player like everything else.
husks keep their distance and try to snipe you
Oh yeah something that doesn't just constantly walk at you, it shoots at you... between constantly walking at you.
and patriarch
We really shouldn't be resorting to the boss fight for variety.
You actually thought bringing up the poor man's boomer and hunter was a good argument? lol
L4D2 is the best zombie game ever made
Not the same, that's just Borderlands if Borderlands was any good.
In what way is either game similar at all, you're comparing a horde shooter to FPS Diablo
The zombies are paper targets
I can't believe I wasted so many hours of my life playing this.
So you're a shitter who has never played on realism expert. Opinion discarded.
moving the goalpost: the post
thx for playing I guess
I said they all just walk straight at and it's true. I never said they didn't also have minor abilities that make little difference. I guess you maybe have to think about dodging the husk shots when they show up. No comment about how a number of Killing Floor enemies are clearly less interesting versions of their L4D equivalent?
I never said they didn't also have minor abilities
kek. you literally said:
You don't see Killing floor zombies do anything that isn't just walking straight at the player
CoD zombies and l4d 1 & 2 mog the shit out of trooning floor.
You moved the goal post, retard.
You don't see Killing floor zombies do anything that isn't just walking straight at the player
Literally all of them just walk at the player so yes. Them also having minor abilities doesn't change that's how they behave in fights. The only one I'll make an exception for is the Husk, because he does stop to shoot at you. But even that's between just walking straight at you.
So you're willing to accept that many Killing Floor enemies are poor versions of the L4D equivalent then?
reminder that the last stand update completely fucked up the game by adding in useless weapons and changing the spawn weights of enemies.
That game needs ranked matches asap
The maps are always the same. The mobs are always the same. The missions are always the same
Fits better for Killing Floor than Left 4 Dead
Killing Floor zeds are bullet spongey without being bullet spongey. In 6 players, a Sharpshooter can kill Scrakes en masse, a Demo with 1 pipe + 1 law can ons shoot FP. But if you try to kill them with shotguns, then yes there are bullet spongey. But that is a necessity to force cooperation and reach a gameplay where parts working together are stronger than each part separately.
floaty and unsatisfying
shallow and pedantic
versus is the only game mode for replayability and fun
