I have no idea. The fact that they stay exactly the same in the Light and Dark Worlds imply they have stable 'meaning' between reality layers, which also means they are the same even in NEO Dark Worlds. Probably a key to getting closer to Gaster.

I think it's the reverse. Asgore is sweet, but I think he has a bad tendency to gift instead of actually spending time with and being emotionally open with people, existentially using flowers as a shortcut. He does it with both Toriel and Rudy so I don't necessarily see it as a romantic gesture in of itself. Rudy is the one thay outright calls to be romanced with, even if its in a joke manner. Carol is either too distant to notice or formed the marriage with Rudy out of convenience, while Toriel is the only in the group to notice what's going on and statt getting suspicious.

Sans being a Time Cop(?) and having come to Undertale from Deltarune feels very blatantly foreshadowed, but it's also really hard to see how the story actually goes in that direction. There's no way it's going to be as simple and direct as "Sans and Papyrus have a secret tunnel to The Bunker in their house and they're working with Gaster down there" that would be fucking stupid.
Understanding Kris as Deltarune's counterpart to Chara could also lead to a better understanding of Chara's characterization in Undertale. And the nature of the SOUL and our relation to Kris in Deltarune could give us more clarity on the nature of the player in Undertale.

What i struggle with understanding is that Sans claims to have no memory of any reset, yet he acts like he has some permanent memory of dealing with some time traveler murderer. But if that were true, there would be some extant evidence of Flowey killing a bunch of people without resetting. But the monsters never talk about anything like that happening.
Sans also talks about how he's given up on going to the surface or "going back" because time will reset again, but if he has no time-independent memories, he should have no idea that his "try to befriend the anomaly theory" failed. (Assuming the player did pacifist first; if an edgy player hops right into genocide, then Sans completely missed his hypothesis.)

Sans doesn't know what you know but he does know what his plan to deal with you was. He knows that you're familiar with his shtick based on your (lack of) reaction at the start of the game and he also knows that you didn't immediately try to kill him despite killing everyone else, so you must have at least been willing to hear him out once.
Sans is constantly appealing to your better nature even mid-fight because he knows actually confronting you is hopeless, and all he can hope to do is change your mind about what you're doing.

My current thought is

Deltarune Weird route happens, Hometown and the entire world is being raped to death by the roaring and the Deltarune Anomaly/player

Gaster, at this point just a normal scientist with galaxy brained intelligence who has seen the fourth wall and knows of the existence of alternate dimensions through his research, gathers up his boys Sans and Papyrus along with a small handful of survivors such as Monster Kid, Bird Man, Clam Girl, etc.

decides to use his experimental portal to try and escape to a new dimension and succeeds, though the new timeline is also kind of fucked what with everyone being trapped underground. Some of the survivors also have to stay inside the lab at all times, as encountering this new timeline's version of themselves could have messy implications.

Decides to put his knowledge to use trying to break the barrier while also hoping to find a way to return home and unfuck the Deltarune timeline.

The Incident happens, Gaster is shattered across time and space (perhaps by his own design), most of the other survivors from the Deltarune universe are also lost in the ensuing explosion becoming Goners. All that remains are Sans and Papyrus.

Sans mostly gives up but still has a shred of hope, occasionally making baby steps in carrying on Gaster's work. The picture in the lab is of Kris, Susie, and Noelle/Ralsei drawn by a very young Papyrus from before shit went down.

San's hidden distrust of the anomaly/player in Undertale comes from his bitterness over a similar being completely fucking up his original home.

I think Gaster has to "shatter" before Deltarune, since the reason he seems to be aware of the player and all that meta stuff is because he was "shattered" and was no longer a part of baseline reality.
The alternative is that it's a timeloop: Deltarune Gaster is a normal guy who gets arcane knowledge from some unknown entity, uses that knowledge to go to Undertale, then is "shattered" and enlightens his 'past' self.

The problem with "the Deltarune world is destroyed" is that Sans implies he has a place to go back to and that it would be more desirable than his current situation, which seems like it would be pretty alright without the existential crisis

Okay, new theory - what if we're going to have Pinocchio plot with Ralsei? Obviously, it's not his actual goal to become a real boy right now, but it's going to be his endgame anyway.
