the people who play PvP pokemon are autistic and will most likely try to touch my penis
PVP pokemon is all luck based anyway, its meaningless when you start minmaxxing that shit
I want a single player game where you can lose
Duuuuuuuuuude just play online!!!
What???
Why not just play showdown instead at that point?
let me fetch my link cable and find some kids at school with gameboys
I don't think they are too easy
PvP isn't fun.
It's stressful. PvP is like getting mugged by a nigger with a knife in a dark alley and having to fight for your life.
singles is gay
I am not autistic enough for doubles
play pvp
every match boils down to coinflip bullshit where you hope your team's gimmick out-gimmicks the opponent's gimmick
PvP
Only Soulless bug men play pokemon PvP only the sweatiest of sweats play. They make CoD lobbies look downright clean
Its because of ego anon. See the soul series as an example of people's reaction of losing to a player vs an annoying ass boss like Malenia or Consort.
I cried when I lost a battle to a Team Rocket grunt in Red because I thought he'd take my Pokemon from me like in the anime
I want a hack/mod that let's me get every pokemon in the game's files without trading or events with no other changes.
Every single one changes the enemy trainers' teams and the difficulty.
I fucking hate this.
Skill issue
I don't buy modern pokemon games because they are too easy
just play PvP bro
I don't buy modern pokemon games because the PvP is available for free through Showdown
good job OP, Masuda will be proud of your performance today
These games are too easy, I demand a harder challenge!
GF: Ok, here's the BF
Based GF.
It's not about the difficulty itself. But the fact that i want to play it as it was originally made with the only change being the ability to actually get every pokemon.
I WANT A CHALLENGE
I WANT EVERY ENCOUNTER TO BE AGAINST TRAINERS WITH LEVEL 100 UBER POKEMON WHILE IM FORCED TO JUST USE LEVEL 1 SHIT MON!!!
Lose in singleplayer
I have now learned valuable lessions and honed my skills. It's time to try again to get further than last time.
Win in singleplayer
I have finally overcome the great challenge that the game has thrown at me. I will now venture deeper into the game world to uncover new experiences and challenges.
Win in multiplayer.
Meh. Another pleb stomped. Whatever.
Lose in multiplayer
Pure depression and dispair.
self restricted challenges like nuzlocke
romhacks to give enemies stronger mons, add level caps, etc
and if you're a purist just play stadium 1 and 2 with rentals for a challenge
can we resume the asari
Are there any romhacks or clone games that are non-linear, like SV was? The big flaw of Pokemon prior to SV was the disgustingly restrictive linearity.
everyone in PvP uses the same broken mons
I somehow had fun on showdown at the start of gen 6 because my bro team could compete by running anti-meta builds, but after that the powercreep became insane
There is no reason why we couldn't have had a rival in the past 2 generations that uses some form of dynamic teambuilding to completely counter-strat your last team at either the previous rival battle or a gym leader all while adhering to some sort of good teambuilding criteria.
because you play it for progression you dunce, not the battling system
itt: retards prove op right while seething and coping
They got some good fights in the recent gens. It's really just Gens 5 and 6 where teams sucked.
if you want to play pokemon but harder just cheat in meta mons and grind the completely meaningless endgame
retard and a samefag
we know it's you op and you have no means to address the arguments
Dude, just play with trannies! XDXD
The linearity wasn't "disgustingly restrictive", it was just reasonable game design.
I heard Crystal Clear was open world?
the first year or so of gen 6 was genuinely the best time to play on showdown before the retarded Baton Pass rules war started (then ended with the move entirely banned)
How come wild Pokemon give such little EXP? Only trainer Pokemon give you anything. It’s impossible to level grind in these games.
>"Why don't you play PvP instead of playing against braindead AI?"
that's a retarded take because AI beat humans in everything. It's just there's no reason to use advanced AI in video games for now, but it will become the norm soonish and with that comp fags will have nothing going for them. AI will force you to play perfect and no make no mistakes, something a human opponent will never be able to do because they are humans and humans make errors.
jrpg pvp
kys you drooling retard, come play arena shooters if you want to actually play a decent pvp game
>"Why don't you play PvP instead of playing against braindead AI?"
I don't want to pay for some online subscription just to play pvp in pokemon.
Yes you need a switch subscription to play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet online.
PvP, like all competitive games isnt fun. People find the most efficient 2-3 strats and just run those over and over again. I want a fair challenge while still not limiting myself to the same old pokemon over and over again. Theres over 1000 pokemon now, but only about 30 are ever used competitively
Because you're not expected to beat the game by being 20 levels higher than everything and ending every fight except designated "bosses" in one basic attack. Play the video game. Kill your Zubats in 2 or 3 turns if you didn't get a Pikachu. You'll live.
bro, your tiers?
Just play a ROMhack if you want Pokemon with a difficulty curve.
the top one
Lord Hong sometimes wished he could have an enemy as clever as himself. Or, because Lord Hong was indeed very clever, he sometimes wished for an enemy almost as clever as himself, one perhaps given to flights of strategic genius with nevertheless the occasional fatal flaw.
Isn't it funny that there's always a Discworld quote that applies to the current situation?
Because I want to go on adventures, explore places, and find secrets in a pokemon setting getting thrashed all along until we get strong enough to do the thrashing. Only fighting trainers is boring.
muh metamons
You need to grow up. No one thinks you're cool for wanting to use garbage like Farfetch'd. In a real difficult setting, people do whatever they need to in order to win. That's real challenge, not this fake shit where you fight a braindead AI.
Nuzlockes seem to be the best balance of difficulty and fun. Its still not that hard, but there is at least some level of threat. Im just here because i want to talk about my boy Oreo the Girafarig
Hypnosis
Nasty Plot
Agility
Batton Pass
Because I want to engage with the story and explore the environment, not chat with a bunch of fat neckbeards about stat min-maxing, and meta build teams.
PvP is nice, but it's hardly the same game.
You have to use that specific set of a few viable mons or you'll simply lose.
Meanwhile in the singleplayer campaign, you can actually play with good looking pokemon, rather than the small set of ugly objectmons and overdesigned legendaries Game Freak made competitively viable.
Nta, but it turns many npcs into niggers, which also look awful with the gbc's limited color palette.
The world of pokemon is so charming. There's so much potential here if only Nintendo would give a fuck
Only good item there is Life Orb. Those movesets are also shit. Sash on screens, why? It has Prankster so it's going to set up regardless. Sure there's a small chance you can one shot with Extremespeed or Thunderclap but Light Clay would be better almost every time. Same with Politoed having a fucking Wacan Berry instead of a Damp Rock.
Well yes, losing to humans causes people to go batshit insane and make up whatever excuses on why they don't like it. None of these people are touching Pokemon champions with a 100 foot pole for example even if it looks like the hottest Pokemon game.
Win in multiplayer.
>Meh. Another pleb stomped. Whatever.
Lose in multiplayer
>Pure depression and dispair.
losing to humans
There's genuinely nothing in life more embarrassing/humiliating than losing at anything to a pokemon fan. Yes, even Pokemon itself.
Because competitive battling is too hard for them
It’s an RPG. The entire point of the game is progressing through the region collecting gym badges while building up a team and immersing yourself in the setting. I’m mot interested in training competitive pokemon and using team comps and shit to fight some random brown child on the other side of the planet.
Please do not use no guard dynamic punch Machamp.
Reg I is ass. People were hyping it up because you might see the boomer legendaries be viable... but the reality is you are just seeing twice as many broken things. The "You can't KO the thing that OHKOs you neutrally" button was barely tolerable in G but the sphincter has snapped and the shitstorm's loose. I'm just gonna wait and see if Reg J turns the power level back down or if the fun's over for good and I have to go back to Romhacks and Smogon's meme tiers.
PVP
Except PVP always dies whenever the next pokemon releases, so you're left with a 60 dollar brick.
drunk showdown randoms at 3am is some of the most fun I have ever had with pokemon
god I love gambling
Doubles>Singles
Problem with this fight is that it's locked behind DLC. You wanna fight this seemingly hard trainer? Cough up $35 please.
Nobody fucking plays them because guess what? If you ban one cast of OP annoying shit you get another different cast of annoying bullshit. It's turtles all the way down.
I think this games could be great if they would make later fights in the games all 2 vs 2 pokemons for support moves to be useful and more engaging game, it works for pvp at the very least and some pokemons that are great are useless in 1 vs 1
Only autistic people who are way to deep into the franchise as a whole disagree. Like, the people who prefer singles are the people who are thinking of competitive as
I want it to be like the anime I want to feel like I'm on an adventure with my bros battling other trainers
correct
People have said it before, but I would love to see official nature documentaries from TPC.
modern
it's funny when unovafags accidentally admit they're retarded
Why yes, I do love being forced to run Protect on nearly every pokemon
people complain about pokemon being easy but then will use OP mons like alakazam, gengar, gyarados and pseudo legends on their team
if you want a challenge use weaker pokemon, it's more rewarding
Like, the people who prefer singles are the people who are thinking of competitive as
I want it to be like the anime I want to feel like I'm on an adventure with my bros battling other trainers
Not even with singles you can make battles feel the the anime because of the constant switching
just use weaker pokemon bro
refuses to evolve kadabra and haunter like a boss
they're still OU material and better than gyarados though
"These games are too easy, I demand a harder challenge!"
"Why don't you play PvP instead of playing against braindead AI?"
*crickets*
Literally sums up so much PvP across so many games nowadays, I am so tired of these people refusing to do any MP that isn't PvE.
If I lose, I don't have fun, so I need to beat up the AI or other players that aren't as good as me
Yep. It's just a pure skill issue. I have no respect for guys that won't touch PvP and it makes it hard to be friends with them.
I hope you can handle a T R V K E anon: only winning is fun. anything else is pure delusion.
No close fights that you barely loose are still intense and entertaining, all the guys that won't do PvP are just noobs with big egos.
If you're losing at Pokemon though a lot of the time you're forced into accepting
My favorite Pokemon suck and I'm not going to be able to use them that much if I want to win consistently
close fights that you barely loose
In a tournament setting between two rivals who know eachother maybe. In vidya gaem pvp? No. You're just sinking more time into losing.
Yeah that's how it works, you don't do stuff based on aesthetics you do it based off efficiency. Copy and paste this logic into all multiplayer games, even PvE. I don't want to have to carry other people whether we are fighting real people or AI.
I experience close fights all the time, its infuriating when someone else wins with barely any HP left and a massive relief when you are the one barely surviving the fight. Live by the sword die by the sword. Otherwise go hide in your single player and PvE containment safe space.
You are profoundly unfun
Go play bloons or your 7000th hour of source games
its infuriating when someone else wins with barely any HP left
Yes
a massive relief when you are the one barely surviving the fight.
No. Either you had to sweat for your life over some mid-ELO nothing game or you know from halfway through the match why you're going to win with 1 HP and are just going through the motions.
PvP is more brainless, regurgitated non-content than Roguelikes or procgen could ever dream.
I like competition and challenge in my video games, go play the sims or use console commands in a strategy game instead of playing it normally
You don't get to say the games are too easy if you haven't beaten the PWT champions tournament in BW2 (in doubles mode, of course).
Because pokemon's mechanics for pvp are incredibly grindy and rng-reliant to optimally build your pokemon without cheating and I'm not going out of my way to cheat at or grind against more braindead AI in pokemon just to play online.
Sounds more like you're OK with cucking wins out to other people. Weird but your kink not mine.
"Why don't you play PvP instead of playing against braindead AI?"
Because the PvP is unbalanced and grinding Pokemon is a unfun choir
In singleplayer games, losing is ok as long as I have had a fun adventure up to the point.
But in PvP, losing is pure depression.
Get good.
Pokemon fans aren't interested in your wiener unless you're currently violating GR2.
Why do you have so many gifs of you getting teabagged?
pvp singles
metagame is 20 turns of switching into a OHKO move, repeat multiple times until one person runs out of mons to switch to
pvp doubles
metagame is 3 turns of OHKOs and then the game ends
252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 354-416 (122.4 - 143.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Lmao trannies get fucked
This is exactly what I mean.
I have better ideas on how to spend my freetime than wasting my breath stomping scrubs like you into the floor.
Only reasonable take. Getting read like a book in doubles feels bad, but you can appreciate how much better the other person is.
Go do it in PvP and stop hiding from it then, otherwise you are coping
AIsloppa
I accept your concession
I accept you being a faggot, cocksucking n00b piece of shit who has 0 argument and is now trying (and failing) to troll. Eat shit and stay in your single player containment zone. I hope anyone who cares about PvP refuses to associate with you.
Go play your switch
Nigga you walked into the pokemon thread talking about competitive mons. This is switch central even for compfags.
pvpfags are low int brutes who only get off bullying and killing people in game
makes sense
Your switch is used for everything but PvP
If you just want to play vanilla pokemon with non-native mons, can't you just PKHex whatever pokemon/items you want to use in a playthrough into the game?
bullying
Found your game
Let me translate what that means
"These games are too easy, I demand a harder challenge!"
It means: "I want more challenge in my single player experience to reach the limits of the game systems in place"
This usually applies both to main quest or it could be NG+.
"Why don't you play PvP instead of playing against braindead AI?"
Lack of rewards, interactivity or official scene are usually the main culprit, with bad gameplay/balance closely following.
There may also be hidden systems (STAB?) in place that's just simply not accessible or enforced within the game
Having better fights is the reward go play animal crossing
Your snoycuckbuckconsole is connected to most fetish reddits. Imagine outing yourself lol.
Except for pvp in pokemon which is what we're discussing or supposed to be discussing.
Do you have anything to add about the games themselves or are you just going to post jaks all day?
yeah, this is an inane suggestion, but it's also expected at this point since competitive is the only thing gamefreak has iterated on since gen 3. there's nobody but autistic tryhards left
being this upset
I thought you were ok with losing?
Pokemon
PvP
What? I guess you use Pokemom
n as example for a PvE game? As to the question...
First things first: I've been a competitive PvP player in every single game that has offered it and have led several guilds/clan. In many games, especially those with semi-mandatory PvE elements, I've led raids, crafting efforts, general socio-logistics (alliances etc) and so on.
I am tellinh you this to emphasize the following: I've often come into contact with dedicated PvE players too. Occasionally, if they showed interest and had a great personality, I've tried to recruit and coach them. When asked why they've never got into PvP and everyone -- EVERY SINGLE ONE across all the dozens of games I've played -- told me the same: they are extremely averse to failure and competition against other humans. It borders on a social anxiety -- so much so, that most even seize up or phase and blank out when faced with a PvP encounter.
Coaching dedicated PvE players basically amounts to online therapy. The very first things you have to teach them are
failure is okay
banter doesn't hurt
people who play against them just play the game and don't have any hard feelings
meanwhile a game's mechanics are basically irrelevant. All of this can backfire however... if you fail to teach them humility they'll turn into insufferable, arrogant tryhards and eventually burnout or get banned due to failing to banter and immediately alogging.
PC master race, I bet you gotta rig built 12 years ago and have 10k hours on source games
And if you had basic reading comprehension you would see all these casuals trying to justify their cowardice and noobery
You can't even speak in pokemon retard. How the fuck do you sweat coinflips lol
S4
please, 2 and 3 are better than that dogshit 4, unless you like coom mods
I have advanced reading comprehension, none of what they said mattered. They can sit in their bubble. You're the only one being a huge bitch that can't talk about pokemon.
The people ITT that wont touch PvP are the people I won't be friends with. I don't want to be friends with them. I'm not gonna be your emotional support tampon for your shitty, sad, depressed life while you use internet socialization and easy fights against AI to try (and fail) to make yourself "feeeeeeel better man" by "just relaxing and having fun". You deserve to suffer.
I can't compete in PvP but I wouldn't mind the PvP experience with AI.
Also a lot of people have friends that can only lose so much.
Skill issue
PvP is too HARD they are too GOOD I just wanna have FUN
are the people I won't be friends with
To be frank you seem like a fuckin asshole so doubt you'd make many friends regardless
We used to have harder challenges but they decided to remove them.
Battle factory, and the battle frontier in general is the best thing gamefreak has ever done.
yeah... i guess it is... that's also why i have no friends, but at least you didn't point that out
How the fuck do you sweat coinflips
Ask the cunts who take the time to open every mon on your team preview in a seperate tab to keep track of your entire pissible moveset
playing pokemon scat / shart
buying pokemon scat / shart DLC for 35 dollars
It is on you to get better and demand that any friends you have do too
PVP isn't hard, its just filled with cheaters and trash bots regardless if you play on Faceit or not.
people don't like the things i'm good at
want good single player mode
durrrr play multi
one retard even used Halo, known for its single player campaign
Literally no one does shit like this except for the top 3% of players. Smogon fags are too busy playing in their made up meta, & showdown is literally for 3rd worlders.
If RNG was such a big issue you wouldn't be seeing the same qpeople constantly making deep runs in tournaments and hovering around the top of Showdown's leaderboards.
Nope sorry anon. It's literally impossible for him to correctly anticipate which of my 6 (reasonable) moves my Pokemon could be running without being an uber tryhard!
Oh yeah I know you got tbagged a lot on halo 3, how's it feel being filtered?
Webm could be us could bing bing wahoo together but no you had to be a dickhead
every time I win Im better
every time I lose you are cheating
Nah eat shit
NTA, if you played enough games, you'll eventually start to realize that PvE players are infinitely more "toxic" and prone to drama than PvP players. It's not just a difference in quantity, but also quality:
PvP players banter up and engage in healthy, competitive and lore-building drama against opponents (that often culminates im friendship) -- PvE players whinge about pixels and cannabalize each other, they engage in drama against another whilst participating in the same events, in the same comms ... creating faux, unhealthy (meta-)"competition". Thus, PvP guilds are infinitely more stable than PvE guilds.
no fact sign
Im better
Yep. The final form of the PvE fanboy is an MMORPG player, now do the math.
Better at being a weaboo moe loving faggot with limp wrists and a negative KDR
They did make a hard mode in Black and White 2 I believe but they made it so you needed to beat the game on one copy and transfer the key to unlock it to another copy, which also resets your save and the key if you actually start it. On top of that the other game has easy mode, which is only unlockable after beating the regular game. On top of that even, they didn’t make stats change despite level changes so almost all of the difficulty changes are rendered moot outside of held items and a few moves that benefit from the level difference but you still get more exp from beating higher level enemies regardless. Gamefreak is retarded.
ur butt bothered
I win like usual
Everyone (except singles smogontards) knows singles is a children format and doubles format is the adult standard difficulty
PvE with randoms/online strangers is a whole different can of transexual worms.
Here's a message from me to you <3:
youtu.be
Don't forget to drink some bleach tonight
anal anguished
Check out some fanmade pokemon romhacks
the difficulty is just grinding out autistic perfect mons
puts in anticheat measures if you ever even dare to use a speedup function to make the grind less monotonous
(not true btw)
pugging
I'd rather lead a PvE guild of rabid troons than pug in [current year]. Pugging boils down to herding thin-skinned triggerhappy (i.e.: reporting) mutes and lobotimites.
Anon memorizing the type chart is already borderline autistic behaviour
he actually stuck around
Go play cooking mama
an actually hard pokemon campaign would suck because of the amount of grinding it would take to build counter teams against whoever beat your ass
That is entirely dependent on the game and playerbase.
Some PvE pits players against each other with their mechanics (i.e. sharing the same small pool of resources) so people get really shitty in those. Doubly so if it's difficult content. If the game is inherently casual, single or multiplayer, people will usually simmer down unless a speedrunner joins. Lots of small things like that build up game cultures.
Likewise I've seen PvP drama eat guilds alive and usually what happens is if the game is old enough and insecure enough bots will eat the PvP scene to the point that PvE is the only really playable game mode. OSRS is a perfect example of this since the wilderness is shitty for actual pvp, clans resort to doxxing each other and one of the oldest clans (RoT) would DDoS the servers so pvm and pvp players would die and they would loot their bodies up until death mechanics were revised to remove all incentives of doing that. They also removed the corrupt moderator enabling them to do that. Now instead they use bots to rapidly log in to all worlds to scout out the entire wilderness, report where a player is, what their stats are and what they are wearing and how much risk that measures up to be, and even what tile they are standing on so one person can get piled on by an entire clan of people if they happen to be in multi (or they can get shoved into multi if they are in singles). Total shitshow.
Most MMORPG players that are used to single player experiences that I've seen will keep to their own lane and not bug anyone unless something incredibly egregious (deliberate sabotage) happens. The ones that talk mad shit and try to micro-manage don't last long and burn out quickly even with their autism. They either get ostracized into playing the multiplayer game solo or everyone puts them on ignore and they don't matter anymore unless they start sabotaging (they won't because their xp/hr would go down).

Ummm PvPsisters?? Our response???
What is it about soi that still triggers the mod so hard. This is a pretty harmless meme
1000+ pokemon only 50 are competitive viable. And most teams are a rotating rooster of the top 20. Wow that sounds so fun
bros these burgers suck
"have you tied ordering a pizza"
Pokemon will never be a "competitive" game as long as attacks can miss or critical hits exist.
All that really proves is only the same group of autismos can stomach playing this shit on a professional level
Well it's more like they wanna play against AI with full teams, using slightly better moves and stats most likely, rather than going from little Timmy and his level 13 zigzagoon to fighting online against a 40 y/o named Melvin who spends 86 hours a week IV breeding and EV training the perfect most optimized team of legendaries and meta mons, I can see where they're coming from, since I agree the games are kind of too easy, if we had at least the option of a hard mode it'd be better.
Wacan prevents you from using its Drizzle to one-shot it with Thunder. Best way to counter it is to have a Torkoal with Drought that's one of the two you send out at the start, since it's slower its weather ability overrides Politoed's.
I thought the insult was Scat/Vomit, you guys could at least be consistent.
They are not going to give the AI actually minmaxed movesets, nobody wants the AI to throw out banded Dragonite with tera normal extreme speed on the first turn.
meds
Game Freak actively makes it nearly impossible to play PVP
this is banned
Lmao omgon strikes again
People who play competitive Pokemon should be rounded up and clubbed to death with shovels.
preparing a team in the actual games is a bit of a pain, but that's why pokemon showdown exists
The bug is banned? Lmao thats hilarious
That is entirely dependent on the game and playerbase.
In my experience it isn't. That may be due to my role as lead and thus sample size.
Some PvE pits players against each other with their mechanics (i.e. sharing the same small pool of resources) so people get really shitty in those.
That's just PvP with extra steps. I was referring to guild/clan drama and social dynamics -- dedicated PvE players are more vicious, unforgiving and prone to alogging in my experience.
Doubly so if it's difficult content.
The only difficulty in PvE content is, always has been and always will be the socio-logistics: herding people. Anyone who is playing PvP competitively can effortlessly handle PvE "mechanics", they are entirely predictable and telegraphed (yet, most people outsource what little attention is required to addons, no matter the game...).
Likewise I've seen PvP drama eat guilds alive
Naturally it does happen to PvP guilds too, but the fall-out is usually not remotely as bad as with PvE guilds. If a PvP guild falls apart it's almost always due to arguments concerning behaviour -- if a PvE guild falls apart it's almost always due to arguments concerning pixels and petty faggotry. One is an organic build-up, the other is a kneejerk reaction and temper tantrum. In my book there simply is no demographic more spoiled than PvE players.
if the game is old enough and insecure enough bots will eat the PvP scene to the point that PvE is the only really playable game mode.
I know what you mean, but by that point games are just chatrooms with extra steps and you only login for socials, no matter whether you've used to play PvP or PvE.
Most MMORPG players that are used to single player experiences that I've seen will keep to their own lane and not bug anyone unless something incredibly egregious (deliberate sabotage) happens.
The issue are the MMO-players who are used to play MMOs like a singleplayer.
(cont.)
It may appear like a minor, inconsequential difference, but it makes or breaks a player(base). Someone used to singleplayer games can adapt to social dynamics, someone used to playing multiplayer games as if they were singleplayer games can't.
The ones that talk mad shit and try to micro-manage don't last long and burn out quickly even with their autism. They either get ostracized into playing the multiplayer game solo or everyone puts them on ignore and they don't matter anymore unless they start sabotaging (they won't because their xp/hr would go down).
Yes, but they aren't the issue. It's the PvE players who feign social competence just to burst into autistic rage when they don't get whatever they want or who run gossip mills in the guild against other members, instead of the enemy players (due to lack thereof).
Nintendo is geared exclusively towards casuals. Tonthe point that they suppressed a budding smash brothers competitive scene.
People who play competitive Pokemon should be rounded up and clubbed to death with shovels.
Shovels kill them too fast. There is no fun in that.
Use thin iron rods instead to prolonge their suffering. Maybe heat up the iron rods before too.
Thanks OP for pointing out such a terrible response to fixing game design. Yes, release a shit game for full price and then let fans fix it later. Braindead tard.
can't handle the stress of casual pokemon pvp and is afraid of black people
we've got ourselves a double snowflake
I want the campaign to offer a challenge, not to have to spend days optimizing the shit out of a team to fight tryhards with meta teams
Singleplayer PvE
Multiplayer PvE
MMO PvE
These are all vastly different environments. To blanket them all under your anecdotal experience with the most niche of the three is asinine. The people playing E33 or baldurs gay or Pokemon by themselves where the most interaction with others is discussion of the game online will behave differently to people playing a fucking mmo.
You are completely right OP but up until SWSH (which only did the BARE minimum) we had battle facilities that acted as a sort of lite pvp mode for casuals that were afraid of the actual PVP and that was fine I enjoyed it even as a PVPfag, it was like a nice break from the monotony of PVP.
However for some reason scatvomit threw this away entirely.
what no battle facilities in SV? Maybe in the dlc
what no battle facilities in kitakami dlc? Look at the preview for indigo disk tho that will definitely have it
indigo disk dlc is all uncapped trainer battles and more open world slop
its okay the battle facilities will be the lost game
lol lmao nope enjoy tera raids and slop quests forever, heres a gacha to distract you
Even SWSH had a battle facility to make multiplayer max battles more interesting. What the FUCK happend? I don’t know. The best switch pokemon game is dp
I don't pay for online because I don't care about multiplayer
This is a non-issue because romhacks exist.
I want (things the series was never intended to be)
PC master race
*PC vegan
The idea of a hard JRPG is having to think to solve a problem. You get into a fight, the fight is too hard, you come up with a strategy and re-do the fight.
With PvP, the only problem solving is the fight itself, but building a party is only a matter of following the meta. Yes, you could come up with wacky strategies in Pokemon, but not with a specific fight in mind.
i play random battles on showdown all the time. haven't played through a new pokemon game since x & y but i've done some nuzlockes of a few games. the actual mainline games are only really fun if you actively make rules and restrictions for yourself
I used to, and I was great at showdown. Then smoggies & gen 8+9 butchered everything that was good about it and it stopped being fun.
Im glad my iq is high enough to enjoy radical red, the apex pokemon experience
i used to enjoy the mainline games but after playing RR the main games feel so ass
I feel so bad for the midwits that cannot enjoy high dificulty pokemon hackroms, but you can always replay dogshit hgss for the fifth time with the awful level curve to feel awesome killing endless waves of team rocket zubats using water gun
Gen 9 saved the series when game after game had had dogshit gimmick mechanics that were bad in singleplayer and worse in multiplayer.
Magikarp and Gyarados share the same barbels/whiskers and have the exact same fin shape & structure. They also have the same scales popping out from behind the head. They also both have perpetually open mouths with outlined lips.
Dragonair and Dragonite though have the same horn on their heads, and the same eyes. Not much other than that.
And promptly ruined it with dogshit unbalanced mons. I still can't name a single gen 9 mon other than a few of the starters.
Oh, Dratini line does all have similar-looking snouts. Just now noticed.
watch pokemon pvp
each player puts out the spikey rocks
they then autistically swap pokemon in and out constantly taking chip damage
when its obvious one guy cant take chip damage anymore his pokemon either dies in one hit or he kills the other guy's pokemon in one hit
repeat for every pokemon
Dragonairqueers were already insufferable but trying to latch onto CHADdos is just pathetic.
Pokémon? Heh, it's for kids. I only play the superior, deeper turn-based gam—
I think you irrevocably discard a good part of yourself when you delve into ultra competitive modes of children's games when you're not a child.
the level of autism caused in the wake of this post is impressive despite only have 4 replies
Pokemon was never balanced for pvp, the game largely has the FromSoft pvp issue. Most people just play with pokemon and items they think are cool, when they run into someone who is running a pvp meta build who knows the nuances of pvp battles, there's no competition and it's not enjoyable for the player just having fun
At least pretend to have played it. This is disgraceful.
>Pure depression and dispair.
more like
reach a point where it's mathematically a waste of both players time to grind 30 minutes of nothing
it's the same issue LoL has when losing comes up, eventually you know what's a win and a lose, but unlike chess where you just start a new game, autistic retards screech about how they didn't get to enjoy their win and that is apparently the loser's fault
luck is a skill
This but with a jack frost and Eligor
Luck is an attribute, not a skill
Terra is dogshit. Stellar type means we're never getting a new type. This gen's gimmick sucks
fromshit
LoL
When your pvp is bringing up these comparisons in the same thread you know shit is bad.
It is actually impossible to design a single player Pokemon game to give a reasonable challenge. I've been playing a lot of 'Hard' Pokemon Romhacks and Fan games lately and the challenge from all of them come down to a couple of things.
Limiting your resources, denying you both good pokemon either typing-wise or statwise or just straight up not giving you any TMs or Move tutors not understanding that many level up sets are designed with easy access to these in mind.
Beef up enemy pokemon with optimized movesets and EVs while denying you access to the ability to do the same or giving them unique gimmicks that you can't interrupt because of a unique terrain type or item you can't get
AI that input reads, there's intelligence and then there's just straight up cheating.
At this point I don't know if there is a way to make a pokemon game challenging but not annoying. The base systems are just too shitty to design around even though they work wonderfully in PvP scenarios.
t. run the red furry 100% of the time with most of his mons using some weird EV spread to counter a specific move from a specific meta mon
Casual noobs have been mind broken
Yep
The casual seethes and has their homicidal torture-murder fantasy towards their betters
Why dont you try falling down on your knees in reverence of pro-gamers' glory and learn something for one? Fucking scum. Enjoy that filtration.
PvP in an RPG
You are severely autistic
Pokemon is like playing one hand of poker and everyone going all in.
There is not enough potential luck manipulation for skill to matter at the highest level of team building
I just want to have a pokemon game where the trainers arent a conga line of 1-2 pokemon 8 levels below my team. I dont think anyone is asking nintendo to release Pokemon CBT version as an official port of those romhacks where every fight is Cynthia and cheese comps
I can tell you never played pvp
The thing with Pokemon is that it genuinely wouldn't be difficult for Gamefreak to make the regular games outside of multiplayer actually difficult. The battle system is very in depth(especially in doubles) and could easily make things challenging, they're just too fucking lazy to do anything but the bare minimum.
I can't gel with random battle because you can be given a complete non-hitter of a team that mathematically can't beat the opponent’s even if you knew what they had. And there's so many shitmons now that that's not even a super rare occurance.
I did my time with competitive games in the 2010s, I am here for cheap dopamine now
switching from doubles to singles cut down on this
lots more viable builds 1v1
Normies still find ways to lose at modern single player Pokemon, and when they do they get incredibly fucking angry.
The same people who say that got filtered by Volo and later Blueberry Academy.
This doesn't apply to pokemon but another thing is that most JRPGs are not symmetrical. You have a vast difference in the amount of hp and damage your party member have vs what enemies have. It's not something that you can easily slap pvp onto.
it's really annoying how gigantic the gulf between knowing what you have to fight vs. going in blind is naturally in pokemon
even if you're playing some hard romhack or something you just lose once and now you know what pokemon the trainer has, what their speeds are, what some of their moves are. If you reload and fight them again it's like playing against a guy with the same poker hand again, so it's almost impossible to make that hard in an interesting way.

Pokerogue was the answer all along
So keep a default difficulty which is standard pokemon shit and then a hard mode for people that want a challenge
I always like the Mystery Dungeon games cause they’re pretty easy once you learn how to play and come to dungeons prepared and it pays off since you can be put in bullshit situations but it’s ok since you brought orbs and seeds cause you are smart.
are u talking about pokken
Emerald Rogue does it better. PokeRogue is cool but it has those boss mons spammed near the end. Especially with the final rival battle.
Fucking weak
Actual Pokemon pvp is double battles because single battles simply DO NOT WORK with real people
I don't want to play online pokemon competitively I want to RP as a gym leader in an MMO and have small children beat my 1 dimensional strat and shitmons with their overleveled starter
People have spergouts when they realize they are playing against real people
They need to make AI just as good as players but real people will always cheat or hack the system to gain an advantage sometimes,
>hes never beat the crap out of a nigger
Pussy. I hope cucks like you die out.
I like playing Showdown but that doesn't have catching or training pokemon
Recommend me a team everything i make sucks
It could work with counters nearby like Diglett cave before Surge or the Machop trade before Whitney. Granted it would stop being hard to people who know how to metagame rather than bruteforce tackle things with a Pidgey and Rattata or equivalents, but at least then the gym leaders can be stronger.
I'm not interested in versing meta chasing smogon fags or randoms online who will just use 6 legendaries every time
PvP in just about any game is gay as fuck
pvp in every game is always filled with meta niggers and i dont like that
Not even a Smogon hater, but Singles is so fucked nowadays. Singles is powercrept to hell. It's crazy to look at which Pokemon is now UU these days.
Unfortunately, too many ppl get filtered by Doubles. I largely blame Gamefreak/TPCI on this. They never bothered to make a Doubles centric games like Colosseum or XD. On a good note, VGC has been gaining more traction than ever.
You can use PKHex to edit the game files to make it so there's no trade evos etc. That's how I played through all of them
Well they made Blueberry Academy in S/V more doubles focused which was fun. Some of those teams they gave them can get a little nasty.
