WTF do I play now? I feel a void after finishing picrel

OIP (2).jpg - 474x410, 40.33K

Definitely don't bother play JRPGs, they are universally garbage.

Try a good WRPG/CRPG like DOS2, BG3, New Vegas, or ME(1).

I won't. I'm not into RPGs were I have to sit there being fed story for 3 hours straight. That's another reason why I liked E33. It has it's good story moments but it's a game about gameplay. I remember some part even when the characters comments "let's get to the action already" made me go yep yep yep

I feel a void

Do something other than play vidya after you finish a game and get this feeling.

BG3

good

lol. rofl. roflmao even.

DOS2 and BG3 are absolutely about the gameplay, and have much better combat, interactivity, reactivity than E33.

New Vegas and ME1 are more about characters, quests, worldbuilding, writing, but they are definitely not bogged down by cutscenes at all.

If you want a good turn-based game, play something like XCOM EU, Darkest Dungeon, or Into the Breach.

Silver, an other French RPG

Darkest Dungeon

RNG casino

Good

You

filtered retard shitter

blame RNG when people can beat Stygian torchless and deathless in under 40 weeks consistently

darkest dungeon is garbage

It's the first game that made me feel like DOS2 did, but DOS2 was still a much better game, even though I did thoroughly enjoy E33.

darkest dungeon is garbage

...if you are a midwit and get filtered

DOS2, BG3

You're an awful human bean.

Try playing a good game

FFX or Metaphor. Whichever you haven't played yet.

japslop

Play Lost Odyssey... if you can find it.

i thought about playing metaphor but I hate persona 5. Will I like metaphor? I feel like it's almost the same but in a new setting

freedom planet

thats what ive seen people say about it basically the same

What did you dislike about P5? The story is basically completely different and a lot more mature (you might get filtered by the 'racism bad' stuff if you're a certain type of poster), the gameplay is better in that it's not as piss easy late game (doubly so if you hack your save to play Regicide right away) and allows you a decent amount of freedom and the day system is like completely different since you're not really stuck in place the whole game and instead bouncing between towns as the plot kind of moves itself along. The cast is also mostly adults with you actually the youngest at 18 (or maybe one character the same age, I forget)

Personally as someone that really likes both games, I don't see it. There's no school stuff, the story isn't about some hidden world or anything and the calendar system is very different. It feels more like an SMT game in a lot of ways than a Persona game, though the DNA of Persona is still there.

I got filtered by metaphor after 48 minutes of nothing but cutscenes and exposition dialog. No clue when the gameplay kicks in.

It does have a lengthy intro and a lot of talking and that aspect never actually goes away. So if that annoys you then it's valid to not want to play it.

I'm just very sick of the anime teenager setting, you know what I mean? I also hate the time passing shit in Persona, were you have to pick one thing to do with your time. And I have no patience for the anime waifu shit either. But the gameplay might be decent, not sure.

I like SMTV a million times more than P5.

Is there a minimum thread number your freemason masters have ordered for this shitty parry slop game?

Oh, then it should be fine. There's no school setting and most of the cast you're interacting with are adults.

The time passing stuff where you build up your social stats IS there but there's no hanging out with people to grind their ranks since they level up for sure each time and you're not forced to look up the optimal response to all the dialogue. There's one character that is super anime Junah and honestly was my least favorite character in the game but idk. There's some really good ones as well Strohl and Heismay so idk.

Though I just glanced on steam to see if the demo is still on there (it's not sadly) and I saw it's still full price (fucking 70 bucks jesus christ) so maybe put it aside for now until it goes on a sale (I got it for like 35 which felt right)

Name 5 recent games you liked right now

man if I had a million dollars for this game idea...

*actually does it*

this causes browncels on Anon Babble to seethe

Stellar blade
Space Marines 2
Xenoblade 3
Elden Ring
Marvel Rivals

Stop shilling this French garbage, if your nepobaby master wants more sales, tell him to add bikinis in the DLC

And yet people with infinitely more money can't stop churning out dogshit games. I don't give a fuck if he was a trust fund nepo kid, I enjoyed 33 a shit load and had a lot of fun with it and that's all I care about.

You retards are starting to sound like liberals with the constant background digging to try and root out something to cancel them over.

The game that inspired it.

Maybe an actual good jrpg

The most generic taste imaginable. Can't say I'm very shocked.
I'm really looking forward to giving 8 another go once I finish the game I'm currently playing.

touch grass

All of those, except elden ring, are shit compared to E33, and I say this sincerely.
- stellar blade is a worse nier automata
- SM2 is forgettable action slop, 6/10
- xenoblade 3 is the worst xenoblade
- marvel rivals I won't even comment, trash

If u want A-tier games:
Resident Evil 4 remake
Silent hill 2 remake
Bloodborne
Elden Ring

If u played A tier, than tier B:
Sekiro
Lies of P
Persona 3 remake

Honestly, you won't like it either.

It try to do things differently, but in the end it really feels like Persona, but not in a school setting.
Personally I hated it, because on the contrary I like Persona (and SMT), but this game is in a weird spot where it try to be more mature, but fails at it. Also it's heavily hindered by persona mechanic (calendar, "social" stats).

Play atelier sophie

mfw nothing else can compete

Yeah the game is a bit too good.

The music was something else. I can't think of the last game I played with such memorable work. I don't think a single track missed.

I went to metaphor after expedition 33 and it's absolute garbage, it's anime writing at its worst.

The song that played during the second Renoir boss fight was peak. Same with the one that plays whenever you go to the mansion

You lost. Everyone who isn't a retard and matters is praising the game. Keep crying

This makes familylet third worlders shit themselves

I'm playing expeditions rome now, it's a good game and I recommend it.

I think it's really funny because the whole reason nepotism is bad is because it means people that don't deserve the resources they get, get them. But clearly this guy is doing something right considering how much this game blew up, even if some people are determined to not like it

through the gold, his laughter persists

Sheeeit, even the song was dropping hints, I had no idea what it was saying since I don't speak french

If you want similar kino, play the Shadow Heart series.
Much more mature than zoomer jarpig slop with really similar cinematography than E33.

I honestly think this may be the greatest game ever made

You should play something actually good and not something with western realistic aesthetics. People want escapism not a reminder of how shit life is.

You should literally kys, that'd be great escapism.

People want

glad the ultimate authority in what people want dropped in to let us now what's what

It's in my top ten for sure. The fact that such a small team made it with core members being noobs in the industry is pretty remarkable. Reminds me of the soul they used to put into games/entertainment before corporatism took over.

corporatism took over.

Unions are only just no being formed though? There hasn't ever been corporatism in the games industry until recently.

I have this weird block in my mind where I don't want to go back and do the side content I missed because then the game would be truly over.

Every game company gets worse the bigger it gets, the best games are made in the beginning when they make games out of passion not because some suit told them what to do to make the most money.

Don't. Save it for a second playthough.
Gonna wait a couple months myself for it to be fully patched and maybe for a difficulty overhaul mod to come out to beef up the end game.

>Try a good WRPG/CRPG like DOS2, BG3, New Vegas, or ME(1).

I played all of those. And while they were good to alright, none of them made me feel anywhere near the way Expedition 33 did.

backup.png - 732x186, 11.54K

Oh please please be like me and play this slop can't you see is superior to the games you like because I agree with it BE ME NOW

I plan to start Labyrinth of the Demon King once I'm finished with E33. But yeah, I doubt we're getting another game of this level of quality anytime soon. Maybe Silksong?

Metaphor is Persona 6: Fantasy Edition. Play SMT III if you want a turn-based game that's actually about gameplay instead of gay teenager drama.

Good thing you showed me that screenshot of your save, lest I think you lying.

If you enjoyed E33 more than those games though, I'm not really sure what to tell you. What exactly do you see in E33 that is better than those games? Then it would be easier to give you recommendations.

Personally I liked the combat and gameplay of E33, and I think all four of those do that better. The story and writing of E33 were pretty good too, but it was a completely linear cinematic story in which there is no reactivity or interactivity, and quests are absolutely threadbare. If you want another linear cinematic game with compelling characters and story, but still great gameplay/combat, try Bioshock or TLoU. Otherwise, if you want a CRPG with more focus on characters, writing, dialogue, and worldbuilding, with disappointing quests and pisspoor gameplay, check out Disco Elysium.

The song that played during the second Renoir boss fight was peak

That stupid song stunned me into getting hit by a big attack. Very impressive.
Feels almost criminal that in almost every possible timeline the guy behind the OST would have remained a simple guitar teacher who does a bit of composing on the side if some random french fuck didn't find his soundcloud link on an obscure french forum.

realistic aesthetics

I wish real life looked this good.

Will do this probably

E33 has better music than all of these games, better kino presentation than all of them, better combat than TW3, ME and NV, a more compelling world all around, more likable characters also, better humor at last

The only thing I'm unsure about is how replayable it's going to be in a year or two time for me.

From unknown studio and game, into my top 5 games of all time, I did not see this coming.
i only even knew this game was a thing like a month ago. Crazy

Good thing you showed me that screenshot of your save, lest I think you lying.

I did that mostly for my own perverse enjoyment. Don't you worry.

The thing that Expedition 33 does better for me than all those games is that it satisfied my sense of beauty in ways I haven't gotten from any other RPG. Not sure if I can agree with the combat part. The Larian games are too different and New Vegas/ME1 were clunky as fuck.

We've had threads about it since 2024. They were pretty shill until schizos like picrel started derailing

Maybe Nier Automata?

It's a game that on paper seems very similar to E33, but I absolutely hated it while I really enjoyed E33. The gameplay is hot garbage, and the story never clicked with me, but it does share similar aesthetics and gameplay structure.

more likable characters

This is debatable. Gustave is definitely up there as one of the gaming's all-time greats, but I'd rank Garrus/Tali/Geralt/Ciri/Yen/Zoltan above E33's cast.
Agreed with the rest.

WTF do I play now?

Plenty of games to play anon. Just pick something.

EU vidya.jpg - 3467x1632, 2.26M

Souls are pretty much the only series that captures that dreamlike essence similar to what E33 has. Not to mention their OST and art design are absolutely top notch, comparable or better to E33, while level design and combat are no contest, Souls blows them away.

But the story and turn-based parry combat are totally different, so if that was part of the appeal, you won't find it with Souls.

Play it again? I've never played an actual great game that didn't inspire another playthrough soon after. This is a worrying sign you may have been playing storysloppa and not a videogame.

Nier Automata's gameplay sucks ass, and so do route A and B, but IMO route C is as good as anything E33 has to offer.
Nier Gestalt/Replicant starts off much better, I probably wouldn't have bothered to finish Automata had I not played Gestalt first.

Play the games that inspired it like Paper Mario, Paper Mario the Thousand-Year Door, Final Fantasy X, Persona 5 and Devil May Cry. Don't listen to this cuck

Dos2? Yea BG3 no DoS2 has a good combat system an entertaining story with decently written characters

Bg3 is relegated to being a DnD slop campaign about space niggers using the woke mind virus to gather you and 6 other liberals to fight the evil of capitalism. Worst of all it uses the awful dnd combat system which no one likes and no one asked for I'm glad BG is dead and Larian are going to go back to making good games

Cocoon is just you and the ambience. Start with that. It will help you with the ptsd after finishing e33.

im probably gonna play the new Doom game.
i finished expedition 33 at a perfect time.

>Personally I liked the combat and gameplay of E33, and I think all four of those do that better.

Mass Effect has dogshit combat

It's time to let go of the Canvas, anon.

Souls series obviously, starting from Demon's 2009

souls kvno.jpg - 3206x4673, 3.22M

Xenoblade 1's environments IMO capture the same sense of wonder during exploration that E33 has. Sadly, the writing is mediocre at best and the gameplay sucks.

Maybe Nier Automata?

That was another great one. Had an amazing soundtrack as well.

The gameplay is hot garbage, and the story never clicked with me

Oh, guess we don't agree after all.

Guys what's the music called in Verso's ending after you defeat Maelle? Not the song in the epilogue but the cutscene where Verso is walking with Boy Verso

why did esquie say this

What I never understood is why did they act like they had any chance when the previous 67 expeditions failed, and this one is not only much smaller than the previous ones, but 90% of it was wiped out in the first few minutes upon landing?

Gustave should have just killed himself in the beginning, because 99.99% of the time he *would* fail, and the whole expedition would be pointless, if only this wasn't a videogame where two of the characters happened to have plot armor.

Gustave's death doesn't really hit hard at all when you realize that they were basically on a suicide mission only going through the motions just to gather some information to help the next expedition, instead of any actual hope of success. I mean Gustave was going to be killed from gommage in less than a year anyways, regardless of whether he died in combat or not.

he's helping :)

Are these E33 threads even real? Its literally just "I hate Japan, the thread" lmao.

Metaphor is honestly not that good.

It really shows just how stuck Atlus are in their Persona mold since they bring it into a new game with almost no meaningful improvements. The only thing it has going for it is Press Turn and that's just something you can get from mainline SMT without any of the filler.

nuclear white family values

I went straight back to EU4. Playing The Great Horde. Going to bring back The Golden Horde, go back east and fuck The Mongols up for being weak and falling apart.

oh shit sorry i had my nigger goggles on, didnt realize you are actually saying what im saying as well

What I never understood is why did they act like they had any chance

Curiosity, laying the groundwork for the future, and every little success builds hope, and as has been stated multiple times this is the first instance of them using a Lumina converter, Gustav's invention.
Gustave talked a lot about expeditions and beating the paintress but when push comes to shove he really just wanted to protect Maelle, the best chance of that being to get at least one step closer to the paintress. Lune even says during the campfire scene at the start that it's WHEN one falls, not if. If Maelle wanted to leave, Gustave would have 100% abandoned ship and taken her home.

Besides, if you know you're going to die then what's there to lose? Humanity still has like 15 more chances realistically.

WTF do I play now?

better jrpgs you retard, there is a decade and a half of peak golden era of the genre, like ever genre frankly, that is sitting there all playable and all of them for free too

I need Esquie's VA to record this in his voice, or someone to AI it, it's too perfect.

I won't. I'm not into RPGs were I have to sit there being fed story for 3 hours straight. That's another reason why I liked E33.

Still has more in common with Paper Mario than anything Fromsoft related.

You're so soulless

Damn that boss theme sounds fucking cool

It's not the same thing and you know it, you disingenuous faggot. The hallmark of a video game bonfire is that it respawns enemies and you can level up. Checkpoints don't do this, especially the respawning enemy thing.

I played through the Mass effect Trillogy in January and it had similatly nuanced and mature writing.

Play the better version this copied. Persona 5 Royal/Metaphor

I think it's a fine alternative to the JRPG norm of random encounters.

Game okay

Is it really like that?

I filled the void with hundred line academy.

Play more parry games like SIfu and Lies of P (I'm assuming you've already played Sekiro as it's so famous, but if not then play that first).

Baldur's Gate 3 is similar in many aspects (and E33 shamelessly stole the camp stuff from it) but it's a lot more story heavy and the combat is very RNG heavy being DnD. Also Shadowheart is literally Maelle (same VA, same white hair moment late game).

They had a new technological breakthrough and the main alternative to going on an expedition is to die the next year in the knowledge that your species is going to end. Going on a expedition is very reasonable if your at that age.

anon so butthurt because there is 1 japan troll post for every 100 posts talking about the game

Your whining might make it 1 in 50 now.

Gustave's Lumina converter allowed them to easily convert the chroma of slain nevrons into XP.

youtu.be/UPn0T4ZpLKE
It is. Still worth playing. Has some similarities to E33. QTEs, except on basic attack instead of skills. You learn passives from accessories, but less streamlined. They're learned per-character and take a lot longer to learn, but only cost 1 point to equip with a max of 30 at endgame.

So how filled with DEI is this game?

So this shit is good?

Ai generated game with ai generated music

Yes. And I say it as a jaded fag mostly playing obscure indie games.

wtf i like ai now

What about Xenoblade 1?

Pretty sure it was a time loop at some point in development

this game really broke non-white folx, huh?

start of the game has 2 places with fags, is filled with nigs. then the only remaining nig is killed and the game begins.
intro and a little into act 1 has femdom vibes.
sciel gives off bi vibes at first but she was remade to be straight.
sprint animations dont have jiggle physics. if you mod to force the character to use the default unreal sprint animation then all the physics are there.
there's anti-upskirt camera angle and camera fadeout if you get too close.
weird bromance with one of the companions you meet later on. he also gets weird suits.
a romance later in the game focuses on showing the male features not the feminine ones.

otherwise its fine.

sciel gives off bi vibes at first but she was remade to be straight.

you need to back to resetera

It's fucking fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.

you didnt pay close attention i guess.
youtu.be/mGnLf9qJgjM?t=5128
they heavily toned it down because faggotry is lame. still, they couldnt completely erase sciel's desire for scissoring.

Is it even a French piece of media without lesbians?

She's French. Faggotry and adultery is in their blood.

I honestly would not recommend this game to people. They wouldn't like it.

Imagine being this much of a faggot this doesn't arouse you

Consistently

Lmao, I've seen those runs, and the hundreds of failed attempts before a success because RNG cucked them.

Puck and grapples galore

Baldurs Gate 3? Kinda has a similar emotional draw

Eh, not really. What Baldur's Gate 3 offers is a great sense of adventure, the game feels like the real sequel to Dragon Age: Origins.
E33 also offers great sense of adventure, but of a different kind - the one offered by FF X.

E33 is basically the pioneer success story that makes gamers realize turn based combat RPGs don’t need to be relegated to retarded anime harem games (this has held them back for a while)

We can now play weeb-inspired games that don’t overtly look like they’re for weebs

an advawntage :)

autist.png - 708x700, 328.13K

They are too dated and graphically too anime-ish

game plays like JRPG, was made by diehard JRPGfans and was totally inspired by JRPGs

try a WRPG

Not saying these games are bad, but youre stupid

I love almost all of the OST but honestly
Le DMC Guy and the female singer don't harmonize well at all in the Renoir battle OST

This.
And DON’T play Bethesda slop like FO3, Oblivion Remastered, Skyrim or FO4.

What’s the difference? I only played FF7 and the one with Arcadia/the bunnygirl people

The main difference is that Dragon Age and BG3 feel more grounded and nonlinear, just letting you go wherever the fuck you want. FFX and E33 on the other hand are more linear, and feel more whimsical and dreamlike, there'd be no room for gestrals in Dragon Age for instance.
It's Lord of the Rings vs Alice in Wonderland. Both offer an adventure, but of a completely different kind.
