Zelda TOTK

story could have ended in bittersweet kino

instead all the problems get magically solved even though the game itself tells you that shouldn't be possible

Why is Nintendo so afraid to add stakes to their games?

1000092230.jpg - 2048x1624, 473.4K

The had a steak in Color Splash, but you didn't play it.

Why do you think a happy ending makes things worse?

Because happy endings are for moralfags.

Akagi.jpg - 586x452, 87.44K

They aren't bad if they are earned, the game literally says she can't be turned back into a human and then she just does at the end, no consequences.

Nintendo games are for children

Children games in the past used to be allowed to have heavy shit too, kids in the past didn't use to be braindead.

1000092229.jpg - 2088x1600, 374.71K

There was literally nothing that could have saved the plot of that game.

didnt play either of the switch zeldas, explain whats happening here

Zelda turned into a dragon

She got better

TOTK is the worst story I've seen in recent years. I mostly liked the game but what in the god damn, Demon King? Secret stones? repeated 5x, then the ending just shifts everything back to how it was at the end of BOTW so nothing even matters

i'm a grown up because i'm depressed

link needs to defeat ganon

master sword breaks

zelda goes back to the past

the sword is sent to her

she needs to fix and recharge the sword, but that would take way too many years

she turns herself into an immortal dragon and uses her energy to recharge the sword over time

link finds her again in the present and retrieves the sword

he defeats ganon and then zelda just goes back to normal

previously it was said that you couldn't go back from being a dragon

Zelda goes back in time and finds out she's a half furry mutt. Her Gran gran shagged a dragon goat man and this lets her use the dragon goats' ultimate Power of becoming giant retarded Divine dragons. She does just that and takes the scenic route back to the present by spending a gorilion years as a dumbfuck retarded dragon that also heals the master sword. Or some gay shit like that I didn't play the game lmoa

But anon just look at her! Aren't you lonely and she's so cute? Buy the fucking amiibo already

zelda was a dragon for 5k years

oh but you never saw her until now

also not-ganon(he's NOT blight ganon guys!!!) was under hyrule castle the whole time and nobody ever sensed him there

even phantom(?) ganon's samurai blade fucking deteriorates and breaks, AND is weaker then midgame weapons with a fucking rock glued to them

these goat people actually first met the hyrulians, thats how they started to repopulate

um yah zelda is hylia, but um...shut up

god I hate aonuma so much

Zelda became a scaly which was undone at the end of the game.

Why? What does her amiibo do?

>oh but you never saw her until now

Are we still pretending that there wasn't a sky barrier that we saw the dragons disappear into in BoTW?

DARKER than Majora’s Mask

IMG_4493.jpg - 1263x1610, 737.05K

O-ok, I will!

>um yah zelda is hylia, but um...shut up

Anon, Botw/totk are a new continuity.
A reboot.

It doesn't matter what it does. You WILL like her and you WILL buy all her merchandise!

TotK contradicts BotW all the time

WW: the dragons are gods

SS: the dragons are gods

BOTW: the dragons are gods

TOTK: actually dragons are just humans who ate a shiny rock, and they can be turned back... What do you mean will we do it to anyone besides Zelda? Haha no of course not

I should ALSO add aonuma has triued to claim to turn off your brian, the timelines arent connected and then he puts skull kids fucking mask and previous links's costumes IN THE FUCKING GAME AND THEIR DESCRIPTION MENTIONS THEM BELONGING TO THE OLD LINKS
shut the fuck up

Fujibayashi is to blame as well.

I think nu-zelda a cute, and I liked breath of the wild, but tears of the kingdom was extremely disappointing, I'm very scared for the next game.

yes Im too mad to spellcheck FUCK

It's kind of lame how they reverse it with no real explanation, however the final catch is absurdly kino.

Imagine still caring about Zelda lore after ToTK. It's clear Aonuma and Fujibayashi are hacks who can't write a good story. They fucking outsourced it to some random literal who mobile developer didn't they? That's how much they give a fuck.

Just admit you want more derpy halfbreed dragon Zelda art

Maybe nobody else that turned into a dragon had divine magic on their side

Happy endings need to be earned.

Aonumale…

That too, but I really did want a good story.

and then he puts skull kids fucking mask and previous links's costumes IN THE FUCKING GAME AND THEIR DESCRIPTION MENTIONS THEM BELONGING TO THE OLD LINKS

Do you just... Not know what a reference is?

skull kids fucking mask

You fucking secondaries not even knowing the name when it had a literal fucking game about it.

I just wonder why they didn't use the model of one of the 3 dragons we did see the last game. Would have hit different if she was the one that got covered in corruption

Now that we have more information on Zelda dragons, Volvagia rape correction when?

Miyamoto should’ve died in a car crash instead of Gunpei Yokoi

references an item that is straight out of a game its not supposed to be related to

its skull kids mask with majora inside it, retard

Ganon gets defeated

Zelda reverts to "normal"

keeps dragon horns + tail

is embarassed about her dragon features

An ending that would've turned the game from a 6/10 into a 9/10.

sad ending good

you need to be 18 to post here

There was no hint or explanation that dragonification could be reversed. It just happens because. That's what makes it suck.

>sad ending good

Yes.

best midna only shown for <10 minutes

I will never stop being mad

Pretty much every Zelda game from Ocarina of Time up to Breath of the Wild had a bittersweet ending

IMG_4498.jpg - 1029x922, 311.97K

It was. You spend the whole game earning it.

No, not really. The characters never once experience hardship or suffering. everything magically gets resolved with love and friendship.

Hero of Time doesn't even get to attend the sweet rave at Lon Lon Ranch

OoT and MM have the best endings but virtue of showing everyone celebrating.

Yes, but it works with the internal logic of the rewind power. Which is what was used to return Zelda to a point before she took the stone.

You spent the entire game using rewind

idk about totk but i was hoping botw would end with an elderly zelda dying of old age instead of terrible sequel bait. did they ever explain why she looks the exact same a century later? link got his ass shoved in a cryochamber so what's her excuse?

Stasis

best Zelda story ever

Zelda is only mentioned once

Ganon only shows up as a monster form the final boss entity takes

done on the original GameBoy initially

oozes surreal aesthetic, and some of the best music in the franchise

lead to the creation of Miyamoto's favorite girl in OOT

They don't make 'em like they used to. Link's Awakening is a class of it's own.

from what? herself? doesn't make much sense for her be able to do that and fight ganon at the same time? from ganon? why would he want that over her gradually getting frailer over the years?

and you know what else? a dedicated shield button

botw ended too nicely to begin with, zelda should've either came out old or as a ghost like the champs

Link has more chemistry with Riju than he does with Zelda

fight

She never fought him. She held him in place, contained.

Being a dragon for 100000 years isnt earning it?

yeah that's what i meant.

What? You lose the master sword and your hand at the beginning of the game and have to struggle through innumerable trials to get it back. Zelda was there when Rauru's wife got murdered and Gannondorf took over. She also was the one to give the sages their missions before dragonifying herself for 1000 years or some shit. Does that just not count? Is that not REAL suffering or something?

You're a cuck with a tiny penis

No because it already happened before the game started

That's not real suffering. You need consequences that mean a little more than "oh you lose your arm for a little bit" or "you turn into a dragon and then don't remember anything because magic".

Zelda is an obnoxious, ungrateful bitch who should've died. She's never suffered a single day in her pampered life. I feel regret that I couldn't personally kill her.

Not when it’s just a long-nap from your POV, and not when you only have to do it because you failed at your one job for a second fucking time.

That doesn't make any sense.

Oh, so you're just a sadist.

you're just a sadist

More like I refuse to bow to an ineffectual monarchy.

Nta but you are an autist

Rather that than be a normalfag.

Riju and Paya are best girls.

I was more annoyed at how everyone acted like Breath of the Wild didn't happen and all the Sheikah tech completely disappeared without anyone ever mentioning it

So THAT was the Imprisoning War…

I hate the story of botw/totk so fucking much it's unreal.

Anon, almost every game after lttp have that.

Correction: this is a bittersweet ending. God the manga ending was so good.

Fuck Skyward Sword

Well, it was, wasn’t it? I could barely see shit in the depths!

canonical romantic interest in Mipha

other Zora girls also had the hots for him

Link and Riju also were very cute together

Paya, even by TotK, is still very infatuated by him

very casual friendly relationship with Purah who would always call him "Linky"

Link had more chemistry with literally any girl not named Zelda.

Nintendo has some weird obsession with Breath of the Wild's version of Zelda. She's like their Lightning or something.
Guess it makes sense, she's one the worst characters to ever come out of the company, just like Lightning was for Square Enix.

Try telling that to Zelinkers.
No, really. Go look at their eternal thread over on 8. It's fucking ridiculous how delusional they are.

The problem is not the amount of hardships they have to go through, but how they magically get solved with little to no explanation.

Link's arm which was beyond saving and Rauru had to give him his? Whoops magically restored at the end of the game

Zeldragon? Something something time stone whoops it magically de-aged her 10 thousand years so she's human again yay

Link permanently losing his dominant arm (which would lead him to become a lefty again) and Zelda remaining as a guardian dragon, would have been a way better way to end TotK.

Tears of the Kingdom would've been an incredible game, if Breath of the Wild didn't exist

Like I would waste my breath arguing with delusional shippers. And this is something personal, but Link losing his house in Hateno really rubbed me the wrong way, if they really wanted to make their relationship an actual thing, they should have modified the house to show that they were both living together, instead no one even acknowledges that Link was the original owner of the house and instead he has to go play legos next to Tarrey Town.

least obvious samefag

Kek. Saved.

Why are you replying to yourself, Eic?
And if you post it again, it's going itno the archive collage ;)

I like pictures of half-dragon Zelda.

Link was originally going to be married to the dolphin, he should only date another red Zora.

The problem isn't that it wasn't set up. The whole tea memory with Sonia was probably to explicitly hint at the possible solution. The real problem is that you never had to work toward solution. Easy way to deal with this is to just make a potential bad ending that is dependent on how many Light of Blessings you have from the shrines. Hell, that could be a good way to balance upgrade potential. Sacrifice potential health or stamina to improve your ending.

Reminder that Mipha was cucked to death.

Get away from my sword you fucking cunt.

NOOOOO MOOMMY EVERYONE I DISLIKE IS LE EPIC BOOGEY MAN!!!!

Butt-broken Zelda sissy.

lmao, your seethe proves me right ;)

reminds me of Monstergirls

Zelda should have stayed a dragon
Don't debate me, I'm correct

dress dragon.png - 2124x2800, 1.16M

Isn't this made by some mexican femcel that has a hatebone with any other girl that gets shipped with link besides Zelda? Why are foids so mentally ill?

Akagi is a moralfag, idiot

Monolith should have worked on the story instead of the technical part of the game, imagine zelda with a xenoblade story, imagine the kino.

Xenoblade story

Eeeuuggggh, no.

That's because Zelda usually spends most of her time in the games kidnapped or sealed away by the big bad. In these particular games, she was self-sealed and sent back in time/turned into a dragon respectively. But ultimately she just doesn't get to spend time with Link to give her those moments.

It's why Spirit Tracks is such a gem. Link and Zelda actually go on the adventure together. We need more of this. Much, much more.

She also likes drawing the other girls getting raped.

once you go black...

You realize that the gerudo are a stain on hyrule and should be wiped out.

Shit, wrong post.

No bittersweet ending, Zelda cured

Now that she's cured, at least she'll be able to run around with you in the post game right...?

Nah it just puts you before the final boss like in BotW

Lame and lazy.

bbw

Based

Zelinkers can be pretty intense, I mean, sometimes there is cute art, but they hate other LoZ girls with a passion. It's pretty strange...

Play Xenoblade Chronicles if you want actual story telling with stakes in your Nintendo game.

least obvious samefag

12 and up, so teens.

Counter point: they're cute.

livestream your hands to convince me.
If similar posts appear while you do, I believe you.

It's why Spirit Tracks is such a gem. Link and Zelda actually go on the adventure together. We need more of this. Much, much more

I thought Tears of the Kingdom would be like that. I was certainly wrong.

actual storytelling

LOOOOOL

You mean like Fiora totally dying from mechon cancer, and how they totally build her up as being a tragic loss, but then MAGICALLY THEY FIND A MACHINE THAT TURNS HER BACK TO NORMAL, AND EVERYONE GETS A HAPPY ENDING. AND THE MACHINE IS NEVER MENTIONED INGAME, AND IS ONLY ALLUDED TO IN THE ARTBOOK THAT CAME OUT ALMOST A YEAR AFTER THE GAME'S RELEASE.

Is that the "story with stakes" you're talking about?

Because the other dragons are the three sages Din, Nayru and Farore turned dragon (likely used to be Zonai as well)

there is an universe where giantess half-dragon Zelda is canon

I'm not in it

Fug...

What about a direct sequel that tries as hard as it can to avoid directly mentioning any specific thing you may or may not have done

That and also this

Okay, but i don't see how thiswas similar to these two:

75349138_p0.jpg - 984x892, 420.87K

But Melia gets cucked because of that and has to suffer alone for the rest of her life(which is very long), so I'd say that's dark enough to make up for it.

oh no, a woman doesn't get everything she wants, it's the end of the world!

guy giggling.gif - 220x218, 320.68K

the same seethe, with the same wordings in the same order as before.

Imagine being such a fucking retard that you think any post being critical of any aspect of Nintendo is all one person

stupid yoshi.png - 233x335, 36.21K

your instant seethe reveals you, kek.
Protip, it's not organic to see three different people post that reply within a minute to a 13 minute old post, retard.

but then MAGICALLY THEY FIND A MACHINE THAT TURNS HER BACK TO NORMAL,

Someone didn't play Xenoblade.

Im not intense I just added a cute image to my post...

Then explain what happened in the ending. the game sure as hell didn't.

monster girls > anthros

nobody is fooled by your phone, retard.

imagine zelda with a xenoblade story

Haremchads, we're back!

literally acting high and mighty over nupaper mario

Why the fuck would ANYONE play color splash?

No game where you have a naked giant half-dragon Zelda as a follower like in The Last Guardian

giving it attention

Fiora: Hey, Shulk... Do you think I'll ever be 100% Homs again?

Shulk: No doubt! Of course you will. I will make it happen.

Fiora: [Oh, Shulk! Thank you!] I don't know what I would do without you!

Shulk: When this is all over, we'll find a way.

Fiora: Whenever we make camp I see you with your head in a book. The other night you didn't sleep. Are you doing all this for me?

Shulk: Yeah, but it's nothing. I always get carried away when I fixate on one thing. It's a bad habit of mine...

Fiora: But you must be so exhausted from all the fighting!

Shulk: Don't worry, Fiora. I’m fine. It did some good, because now I've learnt a few things.

Fiora: Really? Like what?

Shulk: The key is combining Machina and High Entia technologies. Miqol gave me a book explaining the joint research they did. It was years and years ago, but it covered all sorts of fields. I don't know much about medicine, but Sharla and Linada do. I'll get them to help.

I fell for bait again

I'm such a retard

Robin 1.png - 238x309, 149.88K

out of the way heart to heart where they babble an excuse to magically undo her dying of mechon cancer

never actually show it happen

it just works without any complications because we need our generic cliche happy ending

all off screen no less

Well, it wouldn't be a JRPG if it didn't have shitty writing.

Isn't Shulk equivalent to God in that setting by the end of the game? It's been awhile since XB1, but I thought that was the conclusion.
I really ought to play the other games at some point. I know he grows long hair and leaves his weird pocket dimension or something but I don't know how.

Isn't Shulk equivalent to God in that setting by the end of the game?

Yeah, but he immediately gives up the power after wishing for a world without gods.

It's mostly the women.

Hard disagree. Xenoblade is based on gnosticism which doesn't work well with Zelda's themes of divine royalty.

It's BOTW again with broken abilites

explain it, the game didn't!

here's the game explaining it

that's just bad writing!

Nothing will ever satisfy you anon.

But they don't explain. They're like "here's a magic cure that'll fix everything" and then boom, it just happens off screen. Hey, remember when Chrono from Chrono Trigger dies, and they go through an entire multi-stage sidequest to bring him back, and it doesn't just magically happen off screen?

Are you at least this mad about 2 where the girls come back because 'lol conduit bullshit I don't gotta explain shit?'

Yes. Infact I hate all Nintendo stories where they BS a happy ending for no reason. You can't have happiness without suffering.

I was more thinking about

Link gets tired of reincarnating over and over and never being allowed to trully live happily with zelda

ganon offers him a dark power that allows the cycle to break

Link and Zelda become immortal, but the world starts stagnating

The Goddesses use the last of their powers to bring one last Link and Zelda into the world to put things back in place

Rauru and Sonia do ghost magic bullshit at Link and Zelda for avenging them. The game even shows you it. The final catch sequence is fucking rad. Quit being gay

Fair enough, at least you're being consistent

muh xeno 2 out of nowhere

You're stupidly falling for bait made by anti-japan shill, he's probably shilling 33 shit in another thread as we speak.

Not him, but I'm curious about that take. Can you expand on that?

Nah, I hate Expedition 33 as well. The story just rubs me the wrong way.

>zelda was a dragon for 5k years

>oh but you never saw her until now

I agree the story is dogshit and it retroactively shat on the timeline, but these two lines at the least very obviously work off of Back to the Future rules. Zelda had not gone back in time yet to affect those changes.

It was a genuine question as 2 basically does the same thing but through arguably more magic nonsense. That said you misunderstand, I am a gigantic Xenoblade turbofag, I love the games more than anything but can admit shit gets silly from time to time

Having a dragon gf was my happy ending. They took that away from me. Human zelda = bad ending.

But TotK works on closed loop rules, as explained when Zelda tells Rauru that they're going to fail because that's the way it is in the future.

I didn't finish TotK (well I did but only beat ganon). Do they do anything cool with the dragons this time aside from Zelda/Ganon turning into one? One of my gripes with BotW is that they weren't essential to the plot and they didn't do much besides fly around. It's so sad to see these cool majestic beasts be nothing more than set-pieces.

There's definitely a lot of picking and choosing from the devs on that. Some of the shit doesn't make sense with an open loop, but then some of the shit they have in there doesn't make sense with a closed loop either, and then to further complicate things, there's shit like what you said where it could be closed loop rules OR it could be Zelda just talking out of her ass or making a prophecy or just saying dramatic shit because the writer is a hack and thought it was cool.

BUT, at the very least, the fact you didn't see Zelda as a Sky Dragon in the first game, other than obvious hack writing, is that Zelda hadn't gone back in the past yet to BE a dragon.

I actually really loved the fact that the dragons were just set-pieces. It made the world feel more alive and mysterious.

Also no, TotK didn't do anything new with them. The only thing extra is if you ride them, eventually they go under ground and you can ride them through the not!Underdark.

reboot the series so they don't have to deal with previous lore

next new 2D game completely ignores that and just sets itself in the original universe with the previous lore being heavily important to the plot

Biggest disappointment for me is that the summons are just some blue spirit things, I wanted to explore the world with Riju by my side.

Well you also get to dress like they did back when they weren’t dragons

IMG_8944.jpg - 200x401, 28.44K

She's so cute.

She is.

I still can't understand the decision of making Link such a manlet.

He's miserable.

Gerudo women are taller than everyone.

Link isn’t allowed to be manly anymore.

Link is shorter than Zelda.

TotK's biggest issue is that it was a working Breath plot that got converted into a sequel without really doing enough to rip out Breath's bones and make something properly different. Trying to to attach it to BotW's plot feels really fucking awkward when the game is already more or less an alternate retelling of the first game already with basic-ass stuff to try and suggest the passage of time They needed to do way more on that side of shit but I guess the Rona fucked up their workflow

There must be something to this, as I have a 7” penis and I enjoy happy endings

Love conquers all, bitch

Because the "tech demo" IP that demonstrated absolutely none of nintendo's technology still taught them valuable lessons. Mainly: "Copy rareware".

TOTK is fucking dogshit, especially the writing, but using time magic to rewind zelda to the state before she transformed makes perfect sense as a resolution. Or it would if zelda didn't immediately say she had memories of being a dragon, which makes no sense. But such inconsistancies are what you get when you outsource your script to a chinese gacha dev.

lol this Link is explicitly shown to be more of a one-man army than any other Link before him, they had to kill him and put him in a box for a hundred years just to bring him back to normal levels again, then they had to shred his sword arm and 90% of his vitality and it still didn't stop him

And yet he can't even escape a tutorial island because of invisible walls, and he doesn't even have the balls to sneak into gerudo city without crossdressing. And fighting them? hah out of the question.

Are there any examples that come to mind with open loop? Genuinely struggling to think of any.

The two biggest events that suggest closed loop is the mural in forgotten foundation when you return there and clear the rubble and the master sword loop. The latter in particular is important because there's no reason for zelda to become a dragon as a "sacrifice" if the master sword isn't sent back in time, but she can clearly be seen before Link sends the master sword back.

BUT, at the very least, the fact you didn't see Zelda as a Sky Dragon in the first game, other than obvious hack writing, is that Zelda hadn't gone back in the past yet to BE a dragon.

The retarded official explanation is that zelda stayed above the sky barrier with the rest of the sky islands. So much like everything with the Zonai, hack writing.

He wouldn't attack a woman, he's a gentleman.

Link is explicitly shown to be more of a one-man army than any other Link before him,

TOTK is about how he jobbed to the main villain immediately despite having the ultimate divine weapon and needs a god to hold his hand while he assembles a good squad of sages to back him up for a rematch.

Why would you fight this gen's Gerudo, they're just there, they aren't even evil

The hero of time beat the shit out of women. LTTP link killed hundreds of people to win. The hero of wind corrected evil girls with his cock

TOTK is about how he jobbed to the main villain immediately

And then Ganondorf sat in his prison hole with his legs crossed, waiting for the hero that he effortlessly defeated with a fraction of his power for reasons.

gerudo refuse to help him in any way, despite there being a giant rampaging robot camel next to them

has to humiliate himself just to sneak in and get their treasure back

doesn't even get to keep it after saving their ungrateful asses, unless he does YET another fetchquest

Imagine saving these ungrateful whores, only to be told "nah you need to earn our trust, slave".

No previous Ganon has had the ability to do honest to God Soul damage, even in the end fight you're just aware and prepared to deal with it, you don't ever find an actual counter. Same shit killed Mineru

I miss her.

I liked Calamity Ganon more

And also Zelda needs hundreds of thousands of years to fix the Master Sword, but even then it's still a useless piece of shit that craps out every 5 minutes, but now Ganondorf can't just break it because the plot says so

Sping.jpg - 1436x748, 82.18K

Ganondorf breaks the master sword despite being beef jerky

he becomes all powerful and consumes a secret stone

but now the sword is indestructible because...????

Bravo Aonuma.

Sorry lanklets, in the real world, the cute short king gets all the girls.

Retard

SUFFERING BUILD CHARACTER
DEEP LIKE 33

You should! There wasn't much too it, but it made sense and was well presented

Then let's see Zelda out here, singlehandedly beating back Calamity Ganon and Ganondorf.

because it's now thousands of years older than it should be and is effectively reforged from being exposed to dragon power all that time, they told you this

She did for an entire century without rest, what the fuck more do you want

The idea of a Ganon incarnation that was so far removed from Ganondorf Dragmire's original life that it was just manifest hatred and powerlust was way cooler than the reveal that it just the evil brap cloud of the mummy of a completely different faggot weeaboo Ganondorf who's just been chilling out under Hyrule Castle for literal aeons.

And yet it runs out of juice every 5 minutes, like a faulty AA battery? Funny, because the old master sword in LTTP would never run out of juice. Crazy how it's supposedly considered an upgrade, when it's the worst it's ever been.

I wanted her to kill Ganon and all of his minions. I'm sorry if I expected as such from a woman who literally gets gifted god powers from the heavens themselves.

And it still shits itself over having to wail on a Bokoblin for more than 30 seconds, unlike the fully upgraded one the Deku Tree gave me last game after completing Trials of the Sword

Happy and not happy endings both make me depressed. Happy endings because it makes me want to live in that world, and sad endings because I think about the cruelty of life.

177.jpg - 1024x1024, 81.52K

Amateur writers shouldn't be allowed to write time travelling story.
Period.

Writers shouldn't be allowed to write time travelling story.

Fixed

No

True.
Big disappointment for me.

That's what I liked about it. Calamity Ganon is a disgusting abomination that offends my eyes and I NEED to kill it.

I don't care about gameplay balance mechanics versus plot, you probably shouldn't either

The S2 re-release was their chance to fix that, instead we got some GPS bullshit

work hard for an item all game

get told how amazing and great it is

it's just a POS

TP Gdorf would eat this wannabe samurai faggot alive

At very last dont outsource your time traveling sequel story with barely a quick rundown of the story you want a sequel of.

It's video game intended for children audience

They're done with this version of Hyrule apparently, but the gameplay and engine are here to stay.

So what do YOU want for the next game? No matter how trivial or minuscule.

Blacksmith to repair weapons

More use for gemstones and more gemstones in general

Enemies drop rupees like the older games instead of the Yiga

More interconnected caves leading from one to the next

Actual magic rods and wants, bring back the magic meter

Not having every tool for exploration within an hour of gameplay.

If they fucking want me to scroll to 100 items to find the one i want again, then fuck them to hell.

They may as well bite the bullet and go all the way.

THE THING.jpg - 686x386, 30.26K

Nah. The old way of items that were only useful in the dungeon you found them in got tiring as fuck. Make meaningfully long plot relevant dungeons again, sure, but fuck that oddly specific bullshit

Then stop treating it like it deserves to compete for awards with the big boy games, if it's just stupid kid media.

Children deserve media that isn't lazy dogshit

Obviously Zelda can't stay a dragon because she's the last of the royal bloodline, so she has to become human again to produce more Zeldas

Fuck off, I want the mystery of seeing something that I can't yet address, and coming back to it later. That's proper catharsis for an adventure game.

After the Dragondorf fight, there should have been a victory lap dungeon where you slip into dragon Zelda’s stomach to get the stone out and return her to normal.

Eat shit, this was never true outside of a couple items in TP and SS

Based

Why is this game made for 3-6 year olds so children oriented?

What???

Fuck durability, if they want Link to have a variety of weapons, have them become upgradeable so they can eventually reach final forms. Imagine my disappointment when I got access to the Champions' weapons only for them to break after a couple of uses, and they even weren't as strong as Royal weapons anyway.

Return equipable items too, you have no idea how much I miss the Hookshot/Clawshot. Return underwater exploration too, I seriously can't believe how Lake Hylia was completely irrelevant when it hosted temples in both OoT and TP. And of course, actual real dungeons and not whatever weird excuse they used on TotK.

doesn't break against plot bosses. Otherwise I just fused Light Dragon parts to it because it just felt appropriate

is only useful when the plot demands it to be

That just makes it worse.

Do I get to turn Zelda's innards into fuseable materials like her scales, horns and claws?

It's almost like that's when and where people finally got tired of the "traditional" Zelda formula, the games didn't perform as well compared to previous titles, and they made BotW in response. Shocking

Maybe Hyrule would be better without a royal family.

What 3 year olds have the motor skills needed to play video-games?

Why don't we just have half dragon Zeldas going forward instead though? That sounds nice

give player a power-up to cheat vertical ascension twenty minutes into the game

make one of 5 actual dungeons you get based entirely on vertical ascension

TotK is so fucking lazily thought out that it hurts

I got access to the Champions' weapons only for them to break after a couple of uses

And they cost a diamond or two to reforge them.

the game literally says she can't be turned back into a human

Some characters in the game say this, not the game itself. People getting tripped up by shit like this will never not be funny.

People "got tired" of SS because it was tiny and shit
Instead of making better, they made different so people would be distracted by the shiny new toy

Ditto

Literally all of them, retard. Unless they have some sort of disease of course

Some characters

The literal supergenius who would logically know more than Zelda, Rauru, or Sonia said it. Not 'some character'.

And yet Rauru and Sonia proved her wrong

If you can even call the Spirit Temple a dungeon. The only actual dungeon in the whole game was the Lightning Temple and even then it felt too short, everything else could be cheesed so easily, especially the Water Temple.

Almost like the game's writing is shit because it was outsourced while Nintendo fucked around with making the Lego toys that broke game progression work.

You wouldn’t need to, the only other things you would run into are frogs.

The motherfucking Zonai, the ugly ass furshitters that created those stupid jobber stones are the ones who said it.

The fire temple was so ass. They didn't think about it at all

Won't lie, I'm biased as fuck about the Zonai stuff, Nuts and Bolts is one of my favorite games ever, if anything they should have done way more with them

Again, just characters in the game. They're intelligent beings, but not infallible sources of irrefutable truth. The actual issue with that plot line is how fucking stupid the time travel mechanics are.

If you want to pull a bait and switch, there has to be a hint towards the actual switch, and the best I've gotten is that one of the in-game powers is "send something back in time like 10 seconds" therefore "magically send Zelda back in time a gorillion years" is actually a sooper smrt way to handle things.

Go play Metroid, then.

I'm still blown away that Ocarina of Time had underwater travel, and it was reasonably manageable even then and still is, I don't even bother using the D-Pad for other items. But yeah, that game had underwater traveling yet BotW/TotK couldn't even do that. There's not a lot of water in general given the scale of the world.

No. Unfuck the franchise I liked, you mongoloid double-nigger.

I'm still stunned that Aonuma had the balls to say TotK was gonna be "dark" like MM.

Zelda's rewind power is just a plot device to do whatever the writers need it to at the moment.

I'd be staggered if they ever do anything dark like MM again
MM wasn't even THAT dark, it was a nice mix of hope and despair

But weren't nuGanondorf and his fire hair and eyeball hands so scawee, anon?

I initially thought Link and Zelda would discover Ganondorf's crypt midway through the game instead of at the beginning.

What MM actually did was finally give extensive characterization to its NPCs for the (second, after LA) time. It just so happened that it was all about them processing the fact that they were going to die in three days while still trying to carry on living. Plenty of stuff still hits on the emotional weight level of Cremia quietly asking Romani to sleep in her bed on the final night, it's just not necessarily that flavor of sadness

TotK squandering Ganondorf's first mainline appearance in nearly 20 years is such an underspoken issue with the game. also, after seeing the concept art designs, it's even more infuriating since they greenlit literally one of the worst ones they had.

Imagine...

I struggle to think of NPCs in BotW/TotK who we weren't told were key story characters. It sucks, man. Makes the world feel real fuckin' dead.

Hudson and Bolson did alright

Totk's sages being just generic reskinned versions of the ones from botw was so fucking lame.

Thinking more I just personally didn't give a shit about the fucking fashion lady and the mayor's race in Hateno

therealfunk

Fuck, I miss this guy.

I was personally hoping for a longer duration of having Zelda in tow. Taking her on a survey of Hyrule to show the player how things had changed before getting into the meat of the story could have been wild

I loved that game. It might not be the entry with the best gameplay, map, and graphics, but for me it was the most soulful and memorable.

There was that one guard in Kakariko who was formerly a Yiga until he married a Sheikah woman.

BotW had a bit more over TotK, The guard as yo said, Paya's journal, Robbie and his wife and robowaifu. TotK had things that could have really gone places but were hamstrung by the plot, like Zelda's school, Lookout Landing as a whole, you kinda got something with the roving band of warriors but there could have been a lot more about the restoration efforts.
