I love XC3, but it's far and away the worst game in the series (extensions/DLCs notwithstanding). Not surprised IGN picked it though. XC2 is too horny for normies, X too complex and 1 would be seen as too "safe" a pick.

Xenoblade is JRPG slop. It has a lot of elements of great JRPGS, but they're all sloppily blended together with no artistry. Maybe enjoyable if you're new to the genre but they can't be considered some of the best. Gears and Saga are good though.

VII is an unironic themepark ride of nutjob game design with a passable story that people think is the greatest shit ever and VIII is like 90% of an interesting story with 70% of an interesting game system and fuck all to actually utilize it because the main superboss is just a pattern check
