I just assumed that they all freaked out because they found out that they're clones, all of their memories are fake and that their loved ones don't exist. It's a pretty big deal and definitely worthy of something Takumi should know before time traveling.

I made the mistake of prioritising the worst decisions because that was precisely what led me to the main routes and when I found out what or who was behind it all I found it so disappointing. The story is like a Scooby Doo meets La jetée. No way this is better than Zero Time Dilemma

It touches on all the routes in a terrible way where only Takumi and Hiruko do anything. Plus, it introduces a bunch of unnecessary overly complex plot elements that are never elaborated on, and the ending feels unearned and fake wholesome. You want a good "final route", look no further than Matsuribayashi in Higurashi. All that S.F. had to do was copy that.

SF would have been better if it had focused on anyone in addition to Hiruko, it's a very long route where the other characters may as well just not exist
It's why I think KG is also a good route, since it focuses on a lot of characters (yugamu, tsubasa, darumi (the only route she gets ANYTHING on other than retsnom), and nozomi/cunnykhun)

eh, the G'ie are pretty clearly meant to be a method to let the writers do a wide variety of routes while the background lore gives them leeway to do whatever the fuck they want with it.

A slasher film/murder mystery? The brain bugs can take someone over and make a split personality. Zombies? The bug's other life cycle is bringing corpses to life. Killing game/find the macguffin shonen story? brain bugs actually have crazy tech that allows all this. What about the flowchart? Well guess what, the bugs can go all up in there too. The farther you get from the main route the denser the G'ie become, even in SF you only get the full lore if you diverge from SF's "golden" endings. Only the main route and the filler routes like Romance, Comedy and Serial Battles are free of them

The whole route is about how far they're willing to go to break out of the loop, and 54 shows just how they're missing the forest for the trees when Eva breaks out of her brainwashing

I don't even see how you can dislike the Kodaka writing on the Second Scenario path, at least. Characters have behaved consistently, intelligently, and humanely - with an almost shockingly sober tone for an anime game with a teenage manga-reading samurai in it. I genuinely wasn't expecting this shit. But I'm only on Day 32 to be fair and I think I might be veering towards Rebellion atm.

My biggest issue with second scenario comes from how the final battle is handled. I don't like super scripted shit especially in the way that it's scripted in that fight.

Is there a good reason why Eva is so OOC in Mystery? Imagine doing her route and then jumping into Mystery. I hit the lock and my current theory is that X is a shapeshifter due to the Kurara twist, and that Eva was actually X. But it’s also possible that Uchikoshi is just bad at writing the characters, which he certainly is, but Eva is especially off based on her prior depictions I’ve seen thus far. And the mystery itself is very bizarre. Literally almost every detail that’s brought up is made up on the spot for this route, and never comes up naturally. And like I’ve seen others point out before, Uchikoshi has the characters use science babble that they never have before. He also has his shitty meaningless bad endings that Kodaka said he didn’t want in the game. Up until now I thought even the quick bad ends were still decent, like the ones in Retsnom. But these are rushed, awkward and numerous. Pure wasted slots.

It gets explained partially in Slasher route only. Someone reprogrammed the drones to only work during defensive battles. No, I don't think it's ever revealed who actually did this - logically it has to be either Eito or Kako-G.

The game has like 8 important routes and everything else is filler. Even in the main routes there's endings that doesn't tell you anything. The game is pretty much a VN with a plus disc included

Darumi is a peanut butter M&M. She opens up to Takumi in Retsnom because he's quite literally the first person ever to bother to crack her hard outer shell, to get to the soft goopy peanut butter core. Without that catalyst, you don't have vulnerable Darumi. And you can't have just the peanut butter all the time, that's inferior to having both - both parts are essential and good. Neither would it make sense to keep repeating her arc over and over again in other routes. Darumi only works if she's a shitposter 99% of the time, except when she's not. It's essential to her character.

Game is very fun. A lot of the endings are short bad ends and a lot of the memey side routes are sloggy and full of padding. The good routes though are excellent, and those are the long routes that you will mostly be playing anyway. Some routes have kept me thinking about em even a few days after finishing them, character writing is also great (in Kodaka's routes). Gameplay is whatever, I bought it assuming it would be an SRPG with a vn attached to it but its the other way around in reality, not that its been a problem as even if it is kind of barebones its still fun to break the game with the sheer amount of overpowered things you have access to.

The biggest lie in these threads are going to be "game is fun". Those are danganr autists obsessed with waifu flavor of the month who will literally lie to you than easy and tedious combat and repetetive sequences in VN are good becuase you spend 200 hours of your life instead 20 like in other normal VN's

There's a fuckton of padding to the point where it's starting to really grate on me. Combat gameplay is very meh, it's pretty fucking simple and you can end most encounters in 1-2 turns after the early game. I'm not really done with the "true" ending yet so I don't know if it'll become super awesome at some point but even the story is honestly kinda worse than I expected it to be.
I would probably have been pissed if I bought it at full price.

It's akin to reading a really long comic book, easy to see the appeal. Why do certain people want it to fail so badly?

definitely no fuyohiko level characters. hell even characters I hate at first like tenko usually have a good arc that partially redeems them but here none of the characters have good arcs. in fact hiruko's arcs makes her much worse imo and kako is such a nothing character
takemaru is probably the only well rounded character but even then he is just kinda hanging out most of the time with no arcs

Takemaru is the most likable but he also a hollow Mondo clone with even less depth. Even Mondo had some subplot with Taka, while his relationship with Shouma is mostly ignored every time. The story begs him to have either a tsundere relationship with Hiruko or wholesome with Tsubasa but its also ignored because only MC need to have focus in this department.

Overall Takemaru, Assassin boy, Ima, Gaku are just filler single trope anime boys. Shouma is at least funny while Eito and Shion are the main pretty yaoi characters. Overall the game is about Takumi and shallow girl harem

I got into Killing Game as my first post-prologue route, made it into the the 40s, and then said fuck it and bounced. Later I stumbled into Coming of Age, did the same thing, turned the clock back.
I think the mistake anons make is in sticking out thinking it will get better. If it's shit now, it's shit later. Kodaka even said you should feel free to jump around and not feel compelled to collect every Korok seed like an autist, so to speak.
