Steamies just got PWNED

132453.png - 1107x687, 1.39M

No name gay journalist website

Shill somewhere else nigger

I deleted my account

How the hell does this keep happening? I'm fucking serious
Is there a literal pajeet working in Valve and selling account information or something?

Raw passwords aren't stored anywhere, and I have two factor authentication.

hmm ok so i just finished reading the thread and it sounds like the deck didn't do very well huh? maybe next time it won't be as 'shitted' and 'flopped' as you are all saying

sms 2FA in 2025

use auth apps retards

The troll thread from yesterday was real

Probably fake as hell or Steam would have sent me an email to tell me to change my password.
Even if it is true I got different passwords on every thing I use and I got 2 factor authentication.
I think I'll just wait a few days and see since all I'm seeing in these pictures is "allegedly".

Anything that's connected to the internet is never ever safe, no matter how advanced the security is because even if you had a perfect airtight system with zero vulnerabilities there is always the human factor.

Thanks for the heads up OP, changing my steam and mail password rn

Steam only uses SMS for account recovery, not a primary 2FA method, so this is nothing. In general, you should not be using SMS as a MFA method ever for any reason.

So humanity is the weak link in evolutionary security.
Noted.

WTF I hate Steam now. Gonna start making an Epic account and buy games off Epic Game Store.

Thanks for letting me know
Will be changing my password to hunter2

some other company with no access to steam accounts or passwords got hacked

millions of steam account details were leaked change your password!!!

so dishonest

XDA-Developers

Nice fucking phone repair blog

All this being said I sort of wish there was some real news about what Valve was up to since the rest of the industry seems decidedly uninteresting

Oh, and they've also updated the Steam Guard page recently, too.

Embarrassingly misleading story for clicks

Steam got hacked!

Actually it was a 3rd party vendor for sms 2fa

Actually steam doesn't even use that vendor for 2fa

The fuck is this shit?

So what really happened? If the steam shit is a nothingburger, what is the article about?

The absolute fucking state of gaming journalism in direct response to the absolute fucking state of gaming
Some guys maybe at best know some other people's phone numbers and some old used 2factor sms codes and MAYBE the associated accounts that use them assuming the leak contained that in the form of SMS.

Clickbait.

sony/M$ funded hit-piece campaigns

Alright, thanks anons, I hate games journalism.

username can't be changed because valvetards use is as the primary key

TOTP is a special snowflake non-standard format so it can't be used in many TOTP apps

steam is developed by incompetent retards and this was coming eventually

games journalism

So you are just using random words without knowing their meaning? XDA isn't a gaming website.

Me too, it'd probably still be shit because the industry is a fucking mess these days, but huge fucking missed opportunity back when gamergate happened for some actual new gaming news sites to launch.

valvejeet is hired to shill his employer, not to know what he's talking about

Same fucking bullshit at the end of the day.

Steam was hacked

Actually it was Twillio

Steam turns out to not even use Twillio

Actually Twillio wasn't even hacked in the first place

This shit needs to be punished.

So the reason you are a retarded turbonigger is that you where a games journalist all along. That makes sense.

Horrible journalism aside, what's the last time Steam was actually hacked?
I don't mean accounts stolen by phising or even publisher/dev accounts being stolen and uploading game builds with malware, but an actual breach on Valve's side.

*were

Goodmorning sars, you used to laugh at me when snoystation got leaked and so i did the needful and hacked steam. I will redeem your games.
Bloody bitch bastards

You forgot where there's an unironic shill in the thread (beyond the retard posting the article) actually crying that this is nothing arguing the semantics of gaming journalism.
"News" if this actually was some regarding a major gaming platform is still games journalism

pirate everything

nothing to breach

piratechads stay winning once a motherfucking gain

Games journalist detected, opinion discarded.

What definition

I don't mean phishing

Oh, basically never afaik.
The closest there is a variety of cheat clients using people's accounts to +Rep other cheaters, but that doesn't actually require an account to be compromised or is able to do anything useful with the "compromised" state of the account to punch in a steam:// url to open people's profiles and put comments on them in the background.

I hate journalists so much it's unreal. They have the easiest fucking job in the world and still fuck up. They're about as reliable as a random twitter post. We should just nuke the entire profession and outlaw journalism.

Steam is hard to breach because it's a small company that doesn't hire retards and they don't have high turnover rate. Breaches usually happen because some employee fucked up or got phished.

KEK

anyone who sees this and has not changed their password in years not months or doesnt have 2 factor auth is a fucking retard for not using this as a reminder to change it regardless if this is real or not.

Modern "journalism" is all about clickbait. Blame the retards who keep clicking on the bait (with no adblockers).

consoleniggers thinking that the MASTER RACE is even on the same plane of existence than their bum systems like sony.

Always a laugh.

A HACKER JUST TOOK ALL MY GAMES

nig what year u living in

If you're not using a distinct password for every website and that password isn't something like xy36cstvx78gj0dd then you're retarded

how do you remember them all?

I write them down in a password journal that's in a locked safe next to my guns, and that locked safe also has a pin that only I know

tfw my bank forces sms 2fa on me

The feeling is rage.

actually, you're the retard

Nothing happens
Nothing will ever happen to m

In the modern world you don't have to worry about auto guessers, you have to work about data leaks

why would you ever use sms 2fa?
use email or the mobile authenticator

Whats steam guard?

I think my steam verification codes always just get sent to my email
Never had an issue

steamguard are the codes sent to your phone/email/steam mobile app
phone is insecure, subject to sim swaps
email is very secure, need to actually hack your email and any 2fa security on that to hack you
mobile app is extremely secure, need physical access to your phone to hack you

Why would use SMS for 2FA? Lmao. Just use the Steam mobile app or e-mail using a Proton Mail mask so they can't do anything with your e-mail even if they know it exists.

I use Proton Pass with different randomized character limit passwords everywhere.

No website is going to let you try to log in thousands of times. This is only relevant for local logins, like your OS or a .7z file.

so literally nothing happened... 202X is shit

I'm from the future, Donald Trump is going to beat Hillary Clinton, and clown world will spin out of control in retaliation.

I honestly wish things started getting bad when dangle doink won in 2016
And not when the Democratic Party legitimately ran out of ideas when they were picking between

Black

Woman

Back in 2008.

Uhhh ahhh uhhh ahh

2FA you stupid third worlder.

See

How the hell does this keep happening? I'm fucking serious

there's no such thing as an unhackable computer, Alan Turing proved it mathematically
blaming Steam for being hacked is like blaming shooting victims for not having bullet proof flesh

there was a huge breach in 2011, but all the sensitive data was encrypted iirc

i just changed my password a month ago ffs

captcha.png - 582x444, 53.84K

but all the sensitive data was encrypted iirc

You just reminded me of when Sony was hacked and literally none of their sensitive data was encrypted.

and that's why encryption matters
hacking will never be impossible, but if it's done without physical access to the computer, it's also done without physical access to the owner who you can beat the passwords out of with a hammer
