In the painting room inside the real manor, there is all kinds of crazy magic stuff happening. This leads me to believe that even if there is a range, their magic can affect the real world.
At the very least, she could have a normal existence inside that room, maybe the entire manor.
With time, they might even be able to turn her clothes or body into a canvas, making her painted version portable.

Maelle's ending has the same problem as Maruki's ending in Persona 5, in that the world is not actually healthy and alive, but entirely bound to the whims of one person who can override peoples' wills however they choose. Verso is the perfect example: he really is just tired and wants to die, so Maelle could at least grant him that mercy even if the rest of the canvas lives. But instead she keeps him around as a puppet to do what she wants, not what he wants. The rest of the canvas is the same by extension: none of the characters are the ones you get to know throughout the game, but puppets controlled by Maelle to do what she wants.
If you think the people in the canvas are sentient and have free will, Maelle's ending is still bad because it's removing that free will from them all. Especially damning given her own reasons for wanting to stay. She says she wants to live instead of merely exist, but to do so she requires everyone in the canvas to merely exist for her pleasure instead of truly live. Beautiful hypocrisy.

The game's fast travel only works inside individual areas so you can backtrack to stuff you missed easier. Most major areas have two exits to the overworld, and there's no fast travel in the overworld itself.

Usually it's fine in games since very rarely games give respecs out for free.
My issue was with how the podcast hosts described all these "features" made it sound like the game is all about just respecin your guys, fast traveling and not being punished at all for bad decisions. I'm tired of games that are only concerned about babying the player which is why their comments made me hesitate on buying the game.
