I think so? Hard for me to say really since I only ever played Vampire Hunter with one anon on here one time and it was a ton of fun. Definitely did not have fun with the first Darkstalkers game though even on a casual play through the arcade mode.
The first DS is fun, but really rough. They really tightened up the later games. Nightwarriors is the only onle i enjoy Arcade mode of the DS games, even though Q-Bee is one of my favorite characters

There's a part of me that's really disappointed in how SFV ended and SF6 is going right now. I love playing SF6, but V ended with two of my favorite Capcom waifus ( Akira and Rose) at the very end. While I liked see them at the time, I now wish they had been saved until 6. It's a better game than V, even though V had more miscellaneous stuff like costumes and stages. Same with Lucia , Poison and Seth.

Kinu is extremely strict, to the point that even Akiman got scolded by her several times. An artist of this caliber simply can't work in big corpos because extremely few art teams would be able to match her direction. She is also VERY expensive.

Thoughts on the Collection so far after about 15 hours:
Presentation is identical to MvC Collection, menu music is pretty good
Rollback could be better, I've had KO screens and command grabs visually register and then roll back to show they didn't go through, but it's been playable at worst
CvS1 is gorgeous, even more than people say, but man is it just okay as a fighter
CvS2 is still CvS2, no Roll Cancels in Ranked has lead to me not finding a single A-Groove player yet which is actually based
The ver.2K25 OST for CvS2 is mostly a letdown, and somehow True Love Makin' got absolutely fucking butchered
Tried to play A3 Upper because I hate V-ism so I wanted to play the version with it nerfed but I still can't find a character that clicks with me even in that huge roster (maybe if Hawk wasn't hilariously bad but alas)
CFJ is as shit as everybody says it is BUT you can actually have fun if you exclusively run Hauzer/Leo or just run the busted Darkstalkers top tiers (Jedah/Anakaris/Pyron) for easy wins

Do you mean Project Justice as a whole or her gameplay specifically? Because it's been my most played game in the collection and I have her on anchor in case I need to zone or get free meter on a Team-Up.
Just play online or whatever, but teach yourself to block the whole match, don't even think about winning or combos or strategies. Just focus on blocking. I guess you could do it with the CPU but human players will always try to pull you away from blocking so you need to teach yourself to deal with that.
I actually did run A-Rose in both regular and Upper, for some reason my hitconfirms in Alpha are just total ass and I felt like I was wasting her. Considered X-Rose but that's probably stupid.

Haven't given power stone enough of a chance yet, but initial impression makes it seem like a party game that's just fun with Friends without too much staying power.
Cvs2 is so deep and feels very punchy. I just don't like the roster that much and boy did Capcom get a lot of work out of some of those alpha era sprites.

Project Justice is a 3D fighter but with no easy way to side-step because it's Capcom's 2D traditional gameplay unless you 2+KK to move toward camera

It's definitely a much less serious series but it has much more staying power than you'd think. Each character is just different enough, each stage is just different enough, and the balance between skill and bullshit is pretty good in most matchups. There's a reason it had so many clones in the early 00s before Arena Fighters shifted over to NUNS clones.

Thank you, I completely agree. Awesome game mechanically but the roster's so fucking dull compared to what it could be even if you stuck to mostly SF & KOF. Eagle, Haohmaru, Kyosuke, Hibiki, Raiden, and maybe Todoh are the only interesting picks (Maki is disqualified because she was a last-minute replacement for Linn Kurosawa after Fox blocked it).
Oh I know, she's in the trifecta of Capcom fighter women (outside of Chun who is undeniable) with Kyoko and Viper. Menat is also just a step below them.

A lot of stuff in SFV was too good for SFV, which is why 6 being so slow to add content sucks. Season 5 made it into a decent game but that took over half a decade and Ono getting booted.
It's not a joke that you can just abuse a few normals and counterattack to get by early on. Eventually you'll have to learn something useful. With Juri, that comes earlier than most.

I placed plat 1 and climbed to plat 4 with Honda by spamming 5MP both on block and on hit, doing counter DI and anti-airing, didn't bother learning any combos until I got to plat3 after a big winstreak
You overestimate the average skill at low ranks, people will do anything but block

I'm surprised neither Capcom nor SNK have Hiroaki on retainer. Hiroaki as SNK's visual director would probably make up for their shitty 3D modeling.
I think the bigger issue is that sidestepping is kind of worthless unless you get that perfect sidestep deal because like 90% of the moves track. It's like playing a better version of Kekken 8. I've been maining Yurika (and Ran with Chairperson as support) and it's anoying that her only normal launcher is her qcf+HP because it's slow and the use you'd think it have (dodge+attack) is negated by the fact everything tracks so using it to dodge just gets you smacked.
No there's Rival Schools, then there's Rival Schools 2 which was a Playstation exclusive which added some characters (Ran and Nagare) and more mini games and shit. Project Justice is technically the third game.

It's probably the lack of a buffer and much shorter hitstop. You need to really commit or react. Project Justice will probably be easier for you since hitconfirming is super lenient by comparison to most older games but it still doesn't have the huge hitstop of more modern games.

I feel like the only way to stop them from dying and becoming worthless is to combine them all into 1 game and release what is essentially an official version of fightcade, where there's always an indication of how many people are playing and there's a significant audience of people moving from game to game

I like everything about fighting games except playing them. I lurk the threads, read wikias like Supercombowiki, watch videos, read their Tvtropes pages, buy them on sale on Steam just to watch them on my library, etcetera. but actually playing them? I have maybe 10 minutes on them.
I prefer singleplayer games or co-op games; I think fighting games are too anemic content-wise (not a bad thing; it's just their very nature), extremely hard to play and extremely time consuming (again, not a bad thing: that's how the genre is).

SamSho 7 & CotW have wonky models at times but great art direction carrying them. KOFXV is as bog-standard as you can get for stylized 3D and XIV was fucking ugly (XII & XIII used models for rotoscoping and you can tell they must've been bad models based on the proportions of a bunch of the roster). The Maximum Impact series for all their issues did actually have pretty decent models, same with Neo Geo 64 games, it's just that they were behind the cutting edge of 3D by a few years. They're improving, it just happens slowly.

SFEX doesn't count as they were ARIKA, but EX3 still looks a little awkward. SF4 is similar to SamSho 7 in that the models are mostly bad but the art direction saves them (though AE & Ultra models look a step better). SFV is sterile at best and ugly at worst outside of half the girls having big round asses (which is why some people pretend the game looked good overall). SF6 tried to compromise higher fidelity with classic cartoonish proportions and they wildly vary in how they look as a result, but the harsh lighting is the issue more than half the time. There's basically no consistency with them.

The game rewards smart team-building and matchup knowledge more than any other team game out there. By comparison, Marvel 2 has barely a dozen characters viable at a top level by comparison outside of a few characters that NEED a very specific partner (Strider/Doom) or have only seen results from a specific player, and DBFZ's various metas have usually had their top-level meta coalesce around only a handful of characters (Fusion/21/17 meta for example).

It's the game's biggest problem, mostly due to how it doles out boosts differently on a per-character basis to emphasize strengths which leads to "all-rounder" characters using it better than others outside of a couple outliers like Wolverine being able to use Lv.1 to confirm kills when he otherwise couldn't.

I find that 6 doesn't really know what it wants to look like which is why this argument is still happening to this day. I think Ryu & Ken's classic costumes are the closest they've looked to SF2 in a long time and I think Gief & Akuma look better in their new looks than their classics, while your Deejay example shows them moving away from his SF2 look to be more like his original design inspiration (Billy Blanks) despite the game still trying to be cartoony overall. Terry's head seems like it was designed to only look right during gameplay which makes it look weird in close-ups, while Mai was pretty much perfect. Elena's classic costume is a 1:1 dead ringer for Ikeno's 3S key art of her, but her new look is awkward because of the shitty hairdo (a problem that exists on other characters; Manon & Lily's defaults would look way better with different hair). The models are unrealistically proportioned but the textures are super detailed and the lighting looks like spotlights are pointed at the characters at all times.

CvS2 is far and away the most played game and got the top billing treatment so you'll be fine. I've been finding games in every game I queue for even when I exclude CvS2 for variety's sake, but in a couple months I imagine CvS2 will be the only one consistently active much like how the Marvel Collection is mostly MvC2 players.

Anybody want a lobby? I've been playing CFC2 (mostly Project Justice) and CotW lately but I could dust off/reinstall SF6 or SamSho 7. Can't promise I'm very good, but it's better than this thread going in circles.

Classic costumes in SF6 look very off because the models are clearly not designed for them. I dont really hold that against them in that regard but many redesigns do look shitty and way too busy.
Akuma in SF6 looks fucking shit in all costumes regardless the default one just hides his utterly fucked up body the most.
The "artists" dont seem to understand what they are doing. Textures are realistic, bodies are scanned from real people, animations are all mocapped. This clashes with a lot. Akuma as an example now doesnt have schwarzenegger v-taper proportions, but instead looks like an aging real life roid abuser with a bloated gut and really fucked up skin. Because thats what they body scanned.
Move animations do not follow traditional animation principles anymore and their pacing is way too lame now. Moves dont have good windups and impacts anymore. When you look at the elena trailer its evident that nearly everything was mocapped. Then when you look at her DP you can tell a slight bit of artistry applied because thats impossible to do IRL so they have to put some work in.
But then other "unrealistic" moves like kens ex tatsu look like someone just took kens model and spun it in a circle multiple times with zero regard for timing.
Most characters do not follow Akiman proportions anymore but they decided to still exaggerate some body parts. That creates weird inconsistencies and imbalanced designs. Chun Li looks fucking awful now. She has noodle arms and her feet and calves are tiny, but then the thighs are bloated up. Its not like in past SF games where all of her legs were built up and her arms had girth too. Manon is actually a fucking disaster proportionally. Marisa is literally a man. Ryu and Ken are least changed in that regard and look least terrible because of it. They both basically still have SF4/5 proportions.

I tried sf6 being completely new to fighting games some time last year. it wasn't really playable for me, there's either too much of an early learning curve or I am retarded because I lost every match and people were using the craziest abilities on me while I could hardly ever activate my own.
I also don't like the hiphop aesthetic and the story mode was repulsive. Overall a very black coded game genre indeed.

SF6 is pretty good and stable yeah, not the best but the Elena patch is at least addressing some of the systemic issues based on the EVO Japan build. I think S3 even just being okay instead of shitting the bed will solidify it.

It is extremely fast to get matches in at any time, and the quality of matches is good.
As for gameplay, I think SF6 is kinda garbage, everyone plays the same and the only mix is strike/throw/shimmy, the system mechanics are obnoxious and it can snowball very hard especially as soon as someone gets SA3.
Different studios entirely but they're both in the same space in the industry so I can't blame you for mixing them up. 8ing have always kind of been their own team and have just worked with Hudson & Capcom a lot in-between random licensed work, while Dimps was a bunch of SNK devs who started the company after the early 00s SNK bankruptcy. 8ing was Bloody Roar, Clash of Ninja, TvC, Marvel 3, etc. (also a bunch of shmups when arcades weren't dead) while Dimps was Rumble Fish, Sonic Advance/Rush, the backbone of SF4 & SFxT, and for the past decade has pretty much only worked on DB Xenoverse content.

To be honest CvS2's roster is really dull with very few exceptions, if it's your first exposure to SNK there's a lot of cool characters missing. The reason to play it is the Groove system and it feeling pretty good to control overall, with the stages/music as a bonus (CvS1 has WAY better stages but the gameplay isn't close to being as good).

Also RS/PJ clearly was aimed at a more casual crowed that was into flashy shit and anime. The gameplay isn't all that complicated (tardy counters are more lenient/easier than shit like alpha counters and other forms of guard cancelling) and your characters biggest practically combo is generally going to be laucher, 4-6 lights, HP, HK, ender/special/air super. The story, presentation and characters are a big part of the series' appeal and Capcom's generally tried to keep it in peoples' mind by having characters show up in other games (Kyosuke in CvS2, Batsu in TvC, Akira in SF5). Itsuno had wanted to make another one too. If Capcom was smart they'd make a new one to try and compete with Arcsys in the anime realm but all they give a shit about in terms of actual new games is Street Fighter and it's been that way for Shitfinite bombed.

FGC has always had a recency bias plus the old guys who play whatever the big game was when they were teenagers/college age (so Super Turbo/3rd Strike/Marvel 2). Nobody kept Alpha 3 alive. Nobody bothers keeping Tekken 5 alive despite it being way better than T6/7/8. Project Justice came out at the end of the DC's life and was a rare game so the only way it was getting played was through piracy which I assume is going to be iffy at anything above a small tournament.

T8 S2 is one of the all-around worst rebalances in a modern fighting game on top of being really buggy, made worse by it basically doing the exact opposite of what the devs said they were going to do.
