Simple memory manipulation will always work unless the devs are actively doing something against it. I don't think that 99.9% of single player game devs give a fuck whether a player cheats or not. Even Crapcum with their infinite paid DLC for farmable item shit never bothered. At most you'd have to experiment with the data type since games don't always store the data in the way you expect.
