Portman got done dirty. They made him 'le evil' (because drugs and ladyboys I guess?) but also the most sensible one in the squad, realizing they were in over their heads and should be calling in backup while the others were all playing tough guy "We totally got this shut the fuck up Portman huuwah!". His line of "I enlisted to serve my country, not get greased projecting some corporation's science project" also was hardly an evil motivation. I guess maybe they thought it was making him look like a coward when anyone else would just call that a rational opinion.
The production values on this movie were way better than they had any right to be. Nothing really looks cheap or fake. They hired real former soldiers to train the actors how to act like soldiers. The monsters are meaty and creepy looking. It just had a goofy script.

Yeah, and it was pretty shitty. Doesn't even feel like a Doom movie. Demons don't even make an appearance until near the very end of the movie. Up until that point it's just zombies, zombies, and more zombies. For the majority of the movie it's basically just resident evil in space.

I saw it in cinemas with my folks. Not as disappointing as the Max Payne film, but kind of forgettable at the same time.
It feels exactly like a Doom 3 movie.

Other disappointments i remember was the Hitman film (2007), the first two Resident Evil films, Tomb Raider films, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, BloodRayne, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Postal etc.
For some reason i considered the Silent Hill film as the only somewhat acceptable film, but that's because the standards were so goddamn low.

I enjoyed this movie. There's just something really cool about elite squad venturing the unknown. Very similar vibe to Resident Evil 1 movie, but they jobbed to lasers unfortunately

imo this is the best game movie. Since it sets up the scenario before the first Dead Space game fantastically. I only regret not knowing about the comics before starting the first game.
