Persona 3 Reload or FES

Since P3R can now be pirated via a demo bypass, making price not an issue. Which version should I experience my first non portable run on? What's Anon Babble's thoughts?

P3R if you're a zoomie that can't play it if it doesn't play like P5.
Fes if you're just keen on playing the girl route.

I think P3R is a good way to go. It has a few questionable artistic choices but the trade off is better voice acting and dungeon crawling.

I am playing reload now, at the middle of January, and the entire atmosphere of the game falls on it's face. It feels like playing some light hearted shounen anime instead of the somewhat dark emo-core the original had. Reload is WAY too easy too. These games are always easy when you know what you're doing but physical dmg builds are not balanced properly in the second half of the game

i did some homework on the game. It was developed by the same team that did P5R. which was their first game. They then worked on p3r here. You can see this in P5R as well with maruki's dungeon also lacking any form of lighting beyond flat global lighting.

Because it tries to be 5 without the budget. Also it's like taking that ancient snake phone game and giving it fancy graphics. Makes no sense, it wasn't made for that, you would have to make huge changes and additions.

I should add to this that this team did NOT do the original P5, just R. so the only dungeon they did themselves, was maruki's.

So its looking like the opinion is mixed. But the lighting and tone of reload feels like it really missed the mark.

It inherits too much of Persona 5, so it doesn't feel right.

Same thing happens when you compare P4 Dancing vs P3D/P5D.

Same way P4 looks like a texture pack for P3, P3R looks like a texture pack for P5. A lot of the atmosphere is missing from Reload because they are limited to the P5 assets.

FES has incredible art direction and a beautifully crafted atmosphere, no remake will ever do any of the PS2 SMT games justice
Reload is utilitarian and what you'd expect from a modern offshoot of P5

thought about that, but figured I'd ask Anon Babble. As dumb as it may sound, Anon Babble hasn't left me disappointed yet. Got me to play games that I might not have if not for Anon Babble.

FES, since Reload is based on Portable's script. However you should play FES regardless of other factors anyway.

In a perfect world, everyone would do this but there just isn't time enough unless you're some NEET. Seriously, just play FES. The only thing Reload does right is allowing you to pick which skills get passed down during fusion but it makes the game too easy. You can just retry selecting a fusion in FES to get the one or two skills you need. Controllable party members is a nice addition but again the difficulty suffers. The AI controlled party members in the original are easy to manipulate with the tactics menu and it makes the characters feel more independent and alive. Removing the exhaustion system when exploring Tartarus was another bad design choice of the remake. I understand they did it to cater to casual gamers but it ruins a lot of the tension during the dark hour.

Just play reload. Don't let rose tinted glasses dipshits sell you one playing a worse experience. Seriously the non player AI in the original is pants on head retarded and will cause you to game over multiple times

My last playthrough on FES was perfectly fine. Did Hard mode with only one or two gameovers at the beginning. Full Assault/Knockdown/Healing should be the only Tactics you use.

For the love of god don't listen to the people that tell you to play FES instead of Reload
Not only are the character models far worse, the male party members don't even have any events, and you can't do more than one female social link unless you want to cheat on them. Reload is the definitive version and this place is just full of contrarians
