Final Fantasy 9 has no remake. Final Fantasy 9 needs no remake.
Based Boromiposter.
I have 0 faith in SE's ability to "remake" anything anymore.
kek good
hope society stops buying remakes in general
make something new and good
If only Rebirth was the end of them.
why do this idiots keep asking question that cleary meant to be company secret? Of course they will say no even if they are making it
have a game that has enormous amounts of goodwill and nets you a monthly revenue
it does insanely well and basically prints money
decide to rather than invest into that game, you siphon all money and talent away from that product and follow producer ego projects and a time-janny remake
Square is the most retarded company in gaming.
Ehr, the line is going up but the slope is going down.
we need his strength now more than ever...
FF14 is a grooming simulator for trannies. There isn't a single female character on there who isn't either a man pretending to be a woman or just a fag faggot man.
I still do not understand how nobody at SE pointed out that making Remake into a trilogy was a retarded idea.
I've started Chrono Trigger 4 times and failed to feel impressed by it within 5-8 hours and gave up on it every time.
It's not a special game for anybody but those who were 8 years old when they first played it.
They desperately needed the cashflow. Ironically enough it probably would have sold better had they just released it as one consecutive game.
inb4 th-that's what they'll do when the series is over!
I don't want 3 games glued together. I want 1 game.
upgraded servers
graphics update with multiple free fantasias because they keep updating characters
release crafter/gatherer zone and combat zone in the same patch
They're obviously investing in the game
You "put all your eggs in one basket" fags are the retarded ones.
I mean, the biggest problem is that making three games means three separate AAA budgets, and it is highly unlikely that entire playerbase of Remake 1 would stick around to also play Remakes 2 and 3.
Did they not think of that before they did it? They could only pull the "remake" lie once and have normalfags fall for it, so by part 2 of course the number was in freefall. I'd be surprised if part 3 sees a million sales at this point.
Yeah it's clearly going in the right direction.
They're re-establishing that good will!

I'm not sure if the boomers at SE board of directors have been thinking at all for years.

None of these have anything to do with " you siphon all money and talent away from that product and follow producer ego projects and a time-janny remake"
The siphoned talent from 14 left in 2015.
I'm pretty sure the story being shit is part of the result of siphoning away all the talent Anon.
The writers for the last 8 years are still there. Oda and Ishikawa. The talent you're talking about is Maehiro who wrote XVI.
Fuck's sake. Here, here's one on me.
Don't use watermarked snaps in the future. Crop your fucking shit like a respectable anon.
Yes, they utterly killed the hype by spreading it over 3 games, and like 12 years from initial announcement (2015) to final game. You can't get hyped for stretched out little tiny fraction of Disc 1 with tons of needless padding. The original had basically PERFECT pacing and never spent too long in one location. Stretching the 4-8 hour Midgar section into a full 60 hour game is BONKERS.
I think they could have done it on the PS4, and made 2 games max.
2014: FF7 Remake Beginnings
2016: FF7 Remake Meteor
I've started Chrono Trigger 4 times and failed to feel impressed by it within 5-8 hours and gave up on it every time.
It's not a special game for anybody but those who were 8 years old when they first played it.
It's an audio-visual feast, but basically has no gameplay. Out of their games, it would benefit from a remake the most by having rela time combat so you're actually doing things.
another dead remake
haha pass
No, I don't actually trust Square to do it justice. I think these should have been done like 10 years ago on the PS4. They should have stopped making games no one asked for and focused on a decade of big remakes to buy time to think of where to go. FF6- CT - FF7 would have made a nice remake trilogy.
Thank god. They'd ruin it by turning a 5-hour game into a 100-hour trilogy. With time jannies.
Sequel is already 60 percent done
Nobody asks for any JRPG anymore.
Square literally waited 10 years to long to remake 7. And then when they decided to do it they made it in the most clunky way possible by releasing it in three parts over the next he span of 8 years. What a bunch of retards.
Selling multi millions isn't no hype.
You just don't understand Nomura's brilliant vision.
not even Nomura understands it
Trilogies dont actually have that problem. Dark souls 3 sold the most. Mass effect 3 sold the most. Halo 3 sold the most. It's not a some law that GAME 3 will only have some of the people who played GAME 1 or 2.
FF7 Rebirth was critically reviewed with 90+ scores nearly everywhere.
But I know you guys Le Hate remakes because it's Le Cool Thing To Do. Feel free to carry on.
I kind of get it. I'm old and was in high school when chrono trigger came out. I was really excited because I absolutely loved final fantasy 3(6) and all the reviews were saying chrono trigger was the best rpg ever and squares masterpiece. I literally got it the day it came out. It was fine but not all that great. It's kind of generic, short, and there's no real explanation. Sure there's multiple endings but that just amounts to a slog of killing lavos at the beginning of every chapter just to get some stupid 20 second meme ending where the king is a frog or some dumb shit. It's not a terrible game but there isn't a lot of depth or world building
Nobody asks for any JRPG anymore.
That's mostly correct, because they were the first big games with big lavish story and adventure elements. Now they completely lack identity. There's other games with more RPG elements. Other games have better dungeon crawling. Ther'es more "hardcore" niche rpgs. Every AAA game has elaborate cutscenes. There's better action games.
What does FF offer now other than a shadow of other games? Why buy the discount when I can get the real thing?
Aestetics are weird too. What is this? It's not fantasy, it's not sci-fi, it's not anything.
You can tell the execs are insecure and want to make sure their games are as "modern" as possible so they mindlessly study Western AAA games and copy them. Never asking if these are any good, or if they will improve the game. Uncharted and Assassin's Creed has it, so we must have it. Also ignoring that many Western AAA games are starting to fail as well.
Also: FF13 and FF15 were ages ago. 2010, 2015. In kids time, that's ancient history. The current crop of kids has no idea what Final Fantasy even is, and never heard of the series. The mainline series just took too long to come out and rendered themselves irrelevant culturally.
I think there's a real chance Square goes bankrupt and someone buys them out.
Yes, the PS4 era would have been perfect. I think they could have created a whole special lineup for SNES-PS1 remakes.
Dark Souls and Mass effect games all stand on themselves as standalone games. Even if you sequel bait, this is not the same as deliberately picking up a story, slashing it in three parts and selling them five years apart.
And it still flopped. Guess journos don't make sales, huh?
Final Fantasy 7 part three confirmed as a cover shooter
lol yeah thank god for game "journalists" amirite
Aestetics are weird too. What is this? It's not fantasy, it's not sci-fi, it's not anything.
FF lost itself into it's own sense of aesthetics being based around weird crystal shit or something. It's strange because at it's peak, each FF had it's own unique aesthetics and vibe. FFVI was sort of more medieval steampunk with the magitek, FFVII had a Post-WWII West with the old chars and some mixed steampunk elements, FFVIII looked very modern, FFIX went for a full fairy tale aesthetic, FFX had it's own spin on asian pacific islanders or some shit, etc.
Now it's just this weird limbo of crystals and overdesigned visuals in fake looking people with colorful hair.
Individual games quality doesn't matter. Ds3 me3 and halo 3 all had the biggest marketing campaigns of the trilogy behind them.
muh journotroon scores
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH
None of those games had a dramatic sales-falloff on the second game.
ME 2 initially sold better than ME 1.
Halo 2 initially sold better than Halo 1.
Dark Souls 2 initially sold better than Dark Souls 1.
FF7R1 sold better than FF7R2 to the point where the falloff was so massive faggots like OP can still bully you people into a frenzy to this day.
Shit ton of new players were completely confused by Remake as well, as the game just assumes you know the story in and out, and tries to change things just so it's different, and alludes to alternate universes and characters that aren't properly setup like Zack. Sephiroth just comes out nowhere, and you fight him.
Now does that draw a new player in and they want to see how it goes or do they just throw up their hands, think the Japanese write incoherent stories and drop it?
FF7 is probably the best paced game in the series, with almost everything done just perfectly. Remake series ruins all this pacing and adds bloat and big time between games. Oh boy, Yuffie's bullshit adventures in Midgar. Yeah, I've always wanted to see more of that.
Worse, they're sequel baiting the awful Compilation shit so you just know they were gonna make more FF7 shit. I would love proper FF7 content, but it should organically flow and tell stories I'd care about. It should be new characters and this big huge world. I got the sense that every corner of the ff7 world was bristling with new adventures and stories. Never got that sense in compilation games.
I think there's a real chance Square goes bankrupt and someone buys them out.
second lowest
Grim.
FF7 is probably the best paced game in the series, with almost everything done just perfectly
Midgar is criminally under utilized
growth every year
noooo just go bankrupt already stop gaining value!
Ubisoft lost 90% of its value in the past ten years and still hasn't died yet dude.
In my opinion, all compilation shit feels hollow because they are just pandering fanservice. They didn't first pick interesting aspects of the world to further develop, like for instance, revisiting the arrival of Jenova, stories of the Cetra, Weapons, Shinra, cool shit in the setting. Instead, it's always about expanding the role of a particular fan-favorite character - Zack, Vincent, or maybe here's more Cloud and Sephiroth! You rike Sephiroth, yes?
Aren't they adapting Final Fantasy 9 into a animated show?
This isn't Rottentomatoes.
Bad games don't get 90+ critical reviews. Reviewing a video game is an incredible investment of time.
Nah they couldn't afford to so they killed the studio instead.
1st lowest is fromsoft the current king of gaming so what do you even mean. You think they'll be dying in a year or two as well?
Konami still makes games?
He goes to journalists as if it isnt the same general score from players too.
Just a quick Remaster is all I ask for Shit Enix.
They do but I think alot of that gain is coming from their gamba machines. They're heavily diversified.
SE threads are always a laugh because so many of you motherfuckers are so fucking stupid it's hilarious
Yeah, and characters like Genesis and others are just attempts to make Seph copies. Star Wars has the big problem of attempting to pander to fanservice rather than making something new. I'm beyond sick of Seph.
A proper FF7 sequel should have a new cast starting a new adventure, with new goals, and something self-contained.
A Cetra game against Jenova would be really interesting.
new crew from Wutai setting off on an adventure on the wutai continent
post-shinra shenanigans
Imagine losing to Pikmin and SMRPG.
Final Fantasy is a has been franchise.
proper FF7 sequel should have a new cast starting a new adventure, with new goals, and something self-contained.
There's no reason to make a sequel that has no connection to its predecessor. That's why FF is an episodic franchise to begin with. They already did this, it's called FF8.

Nintendo outsells everything.
Oh fuck I was looking forward to that
copium
no.
The problem with FF7 Rebirth is that it's the quintessential game. Absolute garbage story, but it has mechanically satisfying and tight controls. The amount of mini-games is mind-numbing and every fight has varying versions of difficulty that really test your skills in an engaging way.
IMO, if you view FF7 Rebirth like an early Atari/Nintendo game with a ton of replayability, it's admirable. But nowadays, everyone expects an engaging and competent story. And we all know Square can't do that shit.
At this point im fine with a straight port
But nowadays, everyone expects an engaging and competent story.
Why? It barely ever happens. Vidya is the worst place to come for good story. There's like 2 games a year that qualify and they're never the best selling other than maybe bg3 which wasn't so much a good story as it was good character writing.
Yeah, and I suspect there's another phenonmenon at work that big AAA devs haven't picked up on. All the old ass games are easier to access than EVER before, (steam especially) meaning new games don't just compete against each other, but old titles. It's much easier to a new AAA game to be completely lost in the shuffle if there's no genuine interest in it.
but it has mechanically satisfying and tight controls
The gameplay was the worst part though.
The same world, the same history, same organizations, same materia, same spells, etc. So a group of adventures go on an adventure with the decline of Shinra in the back ground (perhaps even Shinra civil war). You get to see Wutai try to re-arm and reassert itself. There's a lot of room for new stories.
I like the FF7 world and felt we only got a tiny glimpse of it. Oh and now I think it should have just been its own IP rather than tied to FF.
Story ideas:
Wutai shenanigans - war mongering radicals vs. moderates
Midgar prequel - GTA Midgar
Shinra soldier perspective
Shinra remnants reassert themselves
Rebirth has the most polished ARPG controls ever designed. That's literally what carried the game. If it had stuck with Remake's combat, it probably wouldn't have even cracked 1million.
NTA, but I'm just fucking sick of the universe. The characters are boring stocks, nothing interesting ever happens in the world and SE is so creatively bankrupt it all reverts to Cloud, Aerith, Tifa and Sephiroth nostalgia-wanking anyway.
Nope. I'd take Strangers of Paradise's combat any way, and that wasn't particularly good either.
You KNOW everyone would tear them a new one if they left disk 2 as it is.
The project was greenlit back in 2013 or so, when game development hadn't completely spiraled out of control and FF7 was still enough of a household name that they could expect to make a lot of money off of this.
If they ever remake it they should at least get Saga back
FF13 made the biggest mistake since Spirits Within in a sense it turned the franchise into a joke for its western audience. Imagine getting an entire generation of nothing but FF13. Not even Type-0 made it west-side at the time.
another remake
How many years and how many parts would this one take?? Would you say 10 million??
Stop projecting, Splatroon
I actually supported that decision.
Maybe because I don't really buy a lot of games so buying three of them is not really a matter.
One leaker implied it would be 2dhd. They also wouldn't want to step over Dq 1/2 hd remakes
Stillbirth flopping will never stop being funny!
Fuck Squeenix!
The only journalists bold enough to even review it were autistic megafans who don't play jrpgs outside of final faggotry (except for maybe persona 5)
Nips are bad at making big jrpgs and the whole two waifus thing made them autistic and made them extend the game, so if you explored with Tifa, you must get a chapter where you explore with Aerith, and if part 3 has a Tifa chapter Ghost Aerith must get her chapter too. Just like how in anime a group of characters reply one phrase so seiyus are paid equally or some weird shit
That said, short remakes and no snoy exclusivity bullshit will give them decent sales
There is also the previous CEO who did too much damage though (forspoken, and firing fucking ips like Hitman and Tomb raider, didn't they want popular ips for the west???)
Anon Babble doesn't play jrpgs either though
If your combat system restricts you to controlling1 character then you're just playing discount dark souls. In other words, you're just ninja gaiden with ARPG blackface.
god I hope.
odds are they will rape more beloved games though.
There's a good goddamn reason why JRPGs don't end t do direct narrative sequels and their idea of "series" comes down to shared themes, aesthetics, etc.
I like the aestetics, art style, music, setting, towns, npcs, and of course the materia system. So I just wanted more. But like actual adventures rather than something that obviously wasn't going to go anywhere. For what it's worth, I thought Crisis Core was fine but it should have been the end of the Zack-Seph wanking.
I KNOW they'd fuck it up, and it's be fan-nostalgia pandering nonsense, but it's a setting that I'd like to see where they're going. Ignoring Advent Children and Vincent's Game. This is how I'd place the setting:
Top of midgar is fucked and abandoned
Slums survived and took in the people from the top
Awkward situation and a lot of annimosity: rich people refugees
many moved away to start anew
The actual legal mayor and deputy mayor re-asserted themselves
Rufus is dead
Tseng is alive
Shinra weakened, and the truth of their corruption becomes public
Shinra board removes Reeve and appoints a new CEO who is a reformer moderate
Many Shinra soldiers defect, become mercs, bandits, work for hire,
world tries to find new sources of energy but mako still reigns supreme
btw, this brings the story full circle: Mako energy killing the world is never directly addressed or solved in FF7's plot
against this background, new self-contained story
If you're 25, the only potential exposure to FF you have is 13, 15, 16, and there's a damn good chance you NEVER heard about those games.
I'm unironically hyped for part 3. They also should recycle this combat for a new ip
God no, the combat suck shit. I'm glad it's dying with these failed remakes
I just really like materia. I can't see why they can't say "oh Gaia's huge, we only saw the cities the heroes caren't about. There's more. This continent over here has some people and new cities" Then just set the story on that continent.
Should have done a sequel instead since remake project is just the same story autistically longer and jannies are irrelevant except giving hope to aerithfags so they don't drop out
What I don't get is why Square immediately abandoned the anime aestetic after FF7. The anime world of adventure with shounen style humor really fit RPGs really well. The "anime style rpg" became a joke because it turned into waifu shit for losers. FF7 is taking a lot of 90s style anime jokes and stories and mashing them together.
Right. I'd like to see a sequel and the new unstable world with a weakened Shinra. If soldiers are masterless it's a good excuse for endless bandits and mercenaries which is always a good start.
start as a recently fired Shinra low class soldier
rush back home to the slums to at least try to protect your family
get work as a merc bopping around, starting from the bottom and working your way up
one day you're drawn into something sketchy and unveil a big plot
Just want to remind that you lost, Rebirth sperg and E33 frogshill.
DS, PSP, and GBA releases of the old games
spin offs like dissidia, stranger of paradise, type-0, world of final fantasy, etc.
FFVII remake/rebirth
XIV
XII and X/X-2 HD releases
potential of playing older siblings hand-me-down games
people who consume media from before "their time"
why do you assume people who are 25 don't know shit about FF?
why do you assume people who are 25 don't know shit about FF?
Cuz that's what sales, social media, and my experiene with 25 year olds tells me. My gf is like the one exception but she's been a KH fan since like 6. The only people talking about these games were the already fans in the PS1/PS2 era, with diminishing sales and relevance. You need to break out of these niche audiences, to get the big sales over 5 million and actual relevancy.
stranger of paradise
You can like the game, but it completely got lost in the shuffle, Square didn't know how to market it, and if anything the FF branding really hurt it. There's no way that the game was a mega-hit seller.
Kys smtvtroon, reminder you always cry about Persona being more popular
SoP had no marketing and was Epic only for a while.
But fans!
Dunno why care about numbers this much but normies are posers and they will latch onto anything, just look at silent hill which was an horror game forgotten for decades now had normies larping as old SH fans.
Expedition 33 also proved normies like realistic aesthetics AND the game being available everywhere, ff just needs to go back to turn based and remain ONE game (not 3 since people move on)
What I don't get is why Square immediately abandoned the anime aestetic after FF7.
By 1997 standards, FFVII was the peak westaboo thing.
If only Rebirth was the end of them.
I have bad news for you, turn-troon. Square Enix stock has skyrocketed since the release of Rebirth.
I wouldn't mind if they never changed the story.Yes, I would swallow it with all the filler, all the minigames and LONG boss battles if they never changed the story. Easily my biggest game let down of all time.
Fuck this trash and the whole Compilation.
every thread is some faggot mad at the story being changed with other faggots mad that nothing was changed
Also it's a nice aesthetic most people like, see Resident Evil
People always forget merch is where the REAL money is
It's good for people that hate fat in JRPGs. So fans of Xenoblade, Trails games and Persona are fated to hate it.
FF IX Remake is dropping end of this year. Announcement at the anniversary livestream, full reveal at TGS.
The French animated series sequel is most likely dead though as the studio went under.
Are we still pretending that FF9 was good?
Also FFTR
Nips also wanted team xeen to remake 5 and 6
Anniversary
July? I want to see it next month dammit
Midgar is Akira and Blade-Runner, which is why the old buildings look like they're from the 40's and why so much of it is art deco. The art style, humor, character designs, sex gags, etc are straight from tv anime of the 90s.
Yes
It is honestly insane how much money Square Enix makes with Tifa merchandise alone. I wouldn't be surprised if SE makes Advent Children Remake after finishing the Remake Trilogy just to keep the gravy train rolling.
People didn't care for weeaboo/westaboo labels back then, tho. Most people enjoyed Pokémon, FFVII Evangelion and Dragon Ball despite of that.
Counterpoint, Barret is Mr. T. FFVII deliberatly was trying to to appeal to the west.
Someone talked about silent hill and while SH2R did well enough they made a HUGE mistake making Maria an old hag and ugly so you won't get cosplayers promoting your game for free nor boomers buying merch of her.
If they ruin Heather in a supposed SH3R they are done. Tifa carries a lot of SE money
The faggots mad that not changing the plot would be boring never played a good remake.
I think their plan was to make an epilogue that covered AC but they are probably fatigued by 7 remake games at this point. I would have liked a final game that covered some new version of advent children and DoC. Imo they are playing it way too safe, just go full schizo at this point
Who would even develop it. Either Asano or a smaller team.
Tifa is their Lara Croft, simple design and liked by both males and females. Don't get me wrong I love Aerith design (red jacket over pink dress it's a nice and original combination) but simplicity wins and Tifa being a fighter have her having a lot of cool animations and cute girls doing cool moves will always be popular
I think even Precure made more money than DB at some point thanks to cute girls doing Kung Fu or some shit
Leaker said Team Xeen (RS2R) started it. FF9 doesn't need a huge remake, just change it's graphics and make the combat faster.
Hell, FF5 made by team xeen would do wonders too, and after 7r I can't see square Enix wanted to make BIG remakes anymore just modest budgets, and FFXR can just be like Crisis Core remake
Now 8R alas 7R would have been great and the time jannies would have made sense here, not to mention 8 could use better fillers since it ignored most of the characters after disc 1
It has all the hints of initially having been outsourced, and then being brought back in-house, either to just polish/supervise, or a full development reboot.
Either way, it's 100% under CS3 auspices, probably with Ito and Itahana in charge and a bunch of former FF XVI and XIV devs.
The "leak" happened like 5 years ago. I feel that if it was real we would see something by now.
It's obviously coming just like P4R
Development hell, and Square Enix restructuring.
The animated tie-in (though now cancelled) and FF XIV's latest expansion being essentially a big memberberries advert are clear indicators it was always real.
was wondering why was this thread so calm
Tendietroon just moved to troll post sbfags
LMAO
Almost. DQ3 remake stopped the bleeding long enough to flop out 7R3 which will be the end of FF remakes.
It’s not coming out this fiscal year, but will be revealed soon. They have shown new character arts this week.
Our fans want an old school FF game
Let's make one and put it on a platform that has the most users!
And it will combine everything that's great about old FFs like multiple characters and a job system.
With tough bosses that requires strategy
And then fuck it all up with the art style and release it only for smartphones
Square Enix probably
Damn makes sense.
dei devs = dei games = do not play
Because franchise the size of FF absolutely lives or dies by its numbers.
They still have merch, they will be fine and ff will continue to exist.
we conduct thorough ethical reviews tailored to different regions. Taking the time and resources to ensure our work doesn't become a source of negativity for anyone is essential in today's world.
Replaying ff4 remake I wish 5 got one as well
No 2D hd cancer pls
They obviously had to reboot it after a bunch of random youtubers put together a demo that was better than the slop they were about to serve
Hell no, unreal sonic fan shit was awful, ff9 needs fixed camera angles since those were great
The character models in that look disgusting though
There was apparently going to be one for 5 and 6 but the producer mentioned the DS just wouldn't be powerful enough for what they had in mind. Still a mystery why they never bothered with one on the 3DS.
remake FF9
break it in to a trilogy because lolynot
sqeenix writers realize they can't insert those retarded time jannies because Garland IS a time jannie
Yeah, those 3d remakes for 3DS would have been great but I guess they wanted a bigger one for 6. That said, after 7r they should really let team xeen handle 5 and 6 remakes, they don't need HUGE budgets (well, 6 maybe but again, after 7r I don't see them wanting to make huge games ever again)
Hell maybe they are training with 9R first if their models are successful
We're having a serious discussion, keep the Anon Babble schizobabble at bay for a while.
I'll never forgive them if they nerf Garnet's ass.
Muh review scores
You faggots still think those mean anything?
The anniversary site still describes Zidane as being obsessed with girls so maybe things will remain intact
Pay for scores thinking it will pay back when the game release
Paying the outlets did nothing
And you lost even more money by paying them.
KEKAROOOOOOOOOO
Is it that good?
