So, about that 2XKO game

So, about that 2XKO game..

tag team anime fighter

dead on arrival

I'm thinking a slow death Multiversus style except not nearly as popular during launch week.

Ok lets recap

Tag fighter

10 characters

Still no release date

Looks extremely simple to play WHILE being very fucking hard

League is fucking dying

This shit is getting a 10k player peak if that, followed by a 90% drop the next day
They had the 1v1 fighter almost done, which looked a lot better than this, and ditched it in favor of the FG genre nobody plays

The aesthethic is ass.

FG genre nobody plays

You're going to have to be more specific anon.

hideous art style

Yeah, that was my point
No one plays FGs
Inside of FGs, which nobody plays, nobody plays tag games

"We want casuals!"

Makes a fucking tag fighter

Lets not forget the awful name too. two ecks kay oh is so awkward to say. A shame Riot already slapped people for jokingly calling it Texaco

I honestly forget that is the name, I still call it Project L

League is fucking dying

How?

It's not actively dying but the devs have outright admitted they don't get new players anymore, so what players they have are either returners or diehards. Arcane was meant to bring in new blood but Leagues reputation as a videogame is so absolutely fucked.
This is why they fucked around with the lootboxes, because the playerbase had already collected everything just by sheer number of hours, meaning papa tencent wasn't enough making money.

all they have to do is make a coomer game with some of their characters, 3rd person arpg or something, but NOOOOO we get this shit and they go bankrupt

Its not hard at all, that's the issue. Its like if you could do those fucked up infinite pressure into ToD umvc3 combos within hours of picking it up. They've expertly hit the worst kind of "balancing for newcomers", where the skill floor is millimeters from the skill ceiling. You can't even make much of a difference with nice neutral, because the damage and pressure is nuts.
SF6 is retarded, but Tesco is like if everyone was forced to play modern and drive rush was free

No
It it simple and hard
The combos have retarded fucked up timings at some points with swaps and tag ins
Complex and hard is not the same
Simple and hard makes for a very fucking boring game

Shit is dead on arrival. It's a tag fighter with active tag mechanics. Normies already struggle massively with the easiest fighting games and now they're going to block one normal and then have to guess a left/right, high/low 50/50 or die. They'll put out a big prize pool for the first 2/3 years since that's the only way anyone is going to stick with it.

Bribery campaign for free skins in League by boosting player numbers in 2XKO, followed by Justin Wong, Maxishillian and the other dick riders doing damage control until they stop getting paid, THEN it dies.

this

This.

Play Sett, Jinx and Poppy in Risk of Rain 2

The LoL kit translates a little too well.

Peak fun.

Missed opportunity

Also, I think Riot and everyone else greatly overestimates the allure of League characters. Valorant worked because fps are easy to get into and it's the same team based 5v5 or whatever as League where you can get carried. The amount of League players familiar with fighting games is going to be way lower, and the amount interested in the type of fighting game it is will be even lower. Not to mention they chose the most boring characters to put in those 10.

They were making an ARPG, it was the one that looked the most finished of all the ones they showed way back when
And then turns out Valorant was just ready for release and it is simply completely untextured crap, and the ARPG has been heard of no more

I guess, but I dont think it will get more than 10k peak anyways
We will never know, because it wont be on Steam

devs insisting on trying to appeal to casuals will never not be funny.
sf6 did it the best. wether it was by sheer luck or actually making the game appealing aesthetic and mechanical wise, they managed to capture the interest of those who never touched a fighting game in their lives. wether you like sf6 or not too bad since its the biggest fighting game ever and the one future devs will be trying to mimic its success.

you underestimate how desperate the fgc is for a forever game that pays the bills. Every pro player will gobble that shit up and force it on their audience

Them not putting it on steam will just be a confirmation it's 1k max

WHILE being very fucking hard

Thats not true. Game gives you a lot of options while execution requirement doesnt exist. Its super retarded and will only make things worse because everyone will do 5 way mixups even at below average levels of play. Movement also feels like dogshit literally DNF Duel tier universal movement. When I played alpha lab I was wondering for who this game is for and I still have no fucking idea.

My problem is that it's the same 10 League characters you see in everything else, when it really shouldn't be. Show me what Fiddlesticks would do in a fighting game. Show me Orianna, or Kled. Instead it's the same predictable shit like Yasuo and Braum. If there were interesting in-depth fighters with strange mechanics and interactions, then you could make a roster this small work. But that was never gonna happen.

It's aiming at the same super flop target as dnf duel and granblue rising. Nobody wants casualised 2d fighters based on popular f2p IP. They will never learn, I don't even like smash but I can tell they fucked up by cancelling that clone and keeping this.

with their roster they should have made a smash type game.

I saw hotashi or some other strive player write a huge document about why it's going to be "the big one" and make fighting games a profitable career and save the genre, before the first beta even happened. Then everyone made fun of it, I can only imagine the seething from them.

Its clear that they went with combo of most popular and easiest kits to translate into fighter design wise. Characters you listed and others like Yorick generally gimmicky and more interesting ones are a lot harder to translate into fighter enivornment design wise so they just went easy way with initial roster. Its ass because I expected at least one character like that in initial roster at least but they just went all in on easy design choices.

from the thumb I thought she was driving a tiny Kart

Yorick could have slow/chunky combos like Kouma or Slayer and have his little dudes be projectiles he can activate or something.

League of Legends Kart

Why wouldn't this make one trillion dollars

Intercourse

wait a second, jinx looks a little off here...

Jynx isn't that fat

i feel like concepts like this that are just effectively parodies of like mario kart or smash or whatever just never do well. the most successful one i can think of is the sega racing one but that's always been pretty niche right?

He can also be designed as puppet character or maybe even stance where in one you control his golems and in other stance you control him so it would involve a lot of stance cancels and shit. A lot of possibilities but as I said its obvious they went with easiest characters design wise.

also i am 90% sure valorant was dead as fuck for the first 1 year and it only persisted through sheer determination on riot's part, and their unwillingness to show the shit player numbers which would have immediately sunk the game.

i think 2XKO will start off doing better than valorant because it generally looks more appealing to begin with, but i think it will undergo heavy attrition unless they have actually understood the genre's appeal and solved the issues it has. the fact that they went for a tag fighter setup makes me think they probably didn't

No Tahm

Least gay Tank Girl rip-off.

but i think it will undergo heavy attrition unless they have actually understood the genre's appeal and solved the issues it has

to elaborate on this, a lot of the mechanics typical to the genre are outright poisonous even if they are generally paramount to the games working. as soon as a normal human being is prompted to engage with one of the following, they will rather drop the game than go on playing:

have to study frame data

have to practice strings

be unable to do anything against a new character until you have labbed against them and know which of their moves are overheads, which go through block entirely, which attacks can be ducked against, etc.

said new character is locked behind DLC, so you can't even lab against them

the fact that you have to spend like 30% of the playtime in "the lab" so you know which simon says button you need to press and so you don't drop a combo when you get a good punish off is just retarded. and yes, the TRVE fightan fans would hate these changes because not having to do chores in the video game is for "scrubs". fighting game autists are basically a (self) captive audience so these studios could sell a 80 dollar DLC that unlocked the perfect block function and they'd still buy it just so they could further distinguish themselves from the normies who would laugh at the concept. sadly fighting games will never understand the reality of their situation: they are the speedrunners of the competitive pvp gaming community. they play a genre that rewards chore gameplay, repetition and rote memorization, and the intensity of their achievements stems directly from their obscurity. basically anyone can sink 5k hours on Bez-Black: Kross Tag Kombat and become their local #1 at it (out of the 7 people who play it)

We want casuals!

Casually release a degenerate tag fighter.

"Find your own fun."

Translation: non fighting gamers thinking this will be casual fun? Prepare to get killed. Prepare to be fodder for the whales and experts.

I've been through this with Power Rangers BFTG. Fun as it might be, it's a shit new player/casual experience.

have to study frame data

have to practice strings

know which of their moves are overheads

These are not difficult things and can be done on feel alone, and if you removed frame data, strings, and overheads you just don't have a game at all. So I don't know what changes you think would fix that.

No Jax

No Lee Sin

No Janna zoner

And the most apalling

No Zed, who'd be the easiest pick.

Not even trying kek

These are not difficult things and can be done on feel alone

lol you are just straight up lying

consider plus frames on block moves for example: you cannot know which of your moves you can use after blocking one, if any, until you go into the lab to compare frame data and preferably set up a dummy to spam it on you so you know how you can get out of it.

if you removed frame data, strings, and overheads you just don't have a game at all

yes, fighting games are full of what i'd call poisonous game design: you technically need most all of it for the games to even work. that's why it's so hard to make a more casual fighter. and when a dev actually breaks the genre down and tries to reassemble it with new mechanics and actually succeeds, like with smash bros, it never gets accepted as a "real" fighting game by the fighting game fans. maybe riot can also pull it off without making the game look and feel like scrimblo bamblo bullshit, but i doubt it

i know the s-word is bubbling in your throat so just get it over with so i can go back to playing helldivers

you technically need most all of it for the games to even work

meant to elaborate that you need most all of it but at the same time they're largely also the reason why most normal people are unwilling to play them.

I know the general populace is VERY slow minded but they're not so retarded as to not be able to see an overhead kick and block high. I hope you don't mean you personally find them difficult instead of them being too hard for league players.

arcane top

BLAARGH

see an overhead kick and block high

yeah because theyre sooo consistent about that

Varies by game but in most big titles yeah it's obvious.
