I don't think this is true. The type of person to claim they like designs in the vein of Concord's characters is, in my experience, the type of person to claim to hold a belief but act without it. They don't truly believe anything they say. When that type of person puts out art they're more concerned with how others will perceive them through the art than they are with the art itself.

I don't think it should really come as a surprise or says much about an industry when the series someone grew up with isn't as good as it once was.
